I installed the BoatEFX steps for saltwater boat a couple months ago. Those steps are the answer, heavy gauge aluminum, powder coated with all stainless steel hardware. I got the 4-step model for 24' bay boat on a Ameratrail trailer. Easy to install, a lot of adjustment with heights and angles to set for best fit. A little pricy but very good quality. Would recommend to anyone looking for boat trailer steps.

Alex, We appreciate the review of the Boat Step by Sure step. We have updated a couple things in our kit including longer bolts for mounting. Also we are in the process of upping the weight limit to 375LBS. Again thank you.

Hi Alex, good review of all the different brands. Just to touch on a few things regarding our BoatEFX steps. We also offer an all aluminum construction step for saltwater use as well as with our wake and pleasure boat steps. We also offer 10 different powder coat colors for all our step systems 👍🏼. Finally our steps are bolt on application to the winch or trailer frame depending on what the specific boat and trailer calls for, but we also were the first to design the universal bracket for the step system that lets you level and adjust the steps to your liking. Overall we appreciate the transparency and overall views on the steps!

Great info. I’m a big guy and getting up in years I recently had my knee replaced. The company I work for we actually make a step similar to these for Lund that they package with some of their trailers. I tried one the other day and just didn’t feel comfortable using it. Me personally I still prefer to step on the fender step and the top of the fender to enter my boat. If you have a quality trailer like a ShoreLandr you don’t need to worry about the fender breaking.

Alex - I've also been researching boat trailer steps. I noticed that you have a deep V boat, but you didn't look at pr provide the specs of the deep v model of Omega Steps. Regarding your placement of the Sure Steps, my concern would be when loading the boat, sudden wind/wave action could cause you to miss the centre winch and hit the steps. This is why I may prefer the Omega Deep V Steps or the Easy Steps, as they mount somewhat more on centre and behind the winch post. Thoughts?

Hey Alex - great video - thanks for the detail and your thought process on choice. I've been looking to potentially get steps and your setup is very similar to mine, Shorlandr trailer with a Lund boat. My question is how your install worked out with the trailer jack. Based on your position of the mount and how you were going to slide the winch post back, I can't see how you can pivot the trailer jack up in a horizontal position. This is exactly my issue as most of the steps I've looked at are positioned on the left side of the trailer where the jack is at, and the swing tongue swings to the right. Makes it so I need to go with the top mount steps or to mount back on the side of the frame where the spare tire is mounted. Regardless, can you tell me how that is working out for you or if you had to move things. If you moved things, can you include a pic of the finished product? Thanks!

I priced steps with boat efx. It came out to around $1000. I have a 25 foot offshore boat. That requires more steps.

Trick step all the way looks the best and very well designed and built to last
@ChuckClark-zc8gg2 ай бұрын
Agree. I have used the Trick Step on a Ranger RT188 and now have one on a Lund 1650 Angler. Trick Step is customized for each boat type and model which makes it very easy to install (just 4 bolts attach to trailer and 2 bolts for the handle). Also great customer service when deciding which model is best for your specific boat.

Same here, just installed Trick Steps on my RT188p this weekend - what a difference! High quality, super sturdy and easy to install! I am editing this post to include the customer service/support from Trick Steps -- and Joe specifically -- was exceptional. Highly recommend!

Comparing efx to sure step which would you suggest for us older guys. I’m thinking stability - how easy is the handles on each to reach and hold on the way down and gripping power of steps? Gripping on sure step looked great but wondering how close and easy are handles to grab for stability. Thanks

If you don't mind spending the extra money I'd go with the EFX Steps based on what you are asking for. They both are great, I just think you will like the EFX ones better given the options you have for grip and handle layout as well as higher weight capacity.

What would you suggest if your trailer frame is I-beams, not tube shape? Great info otherwise, thanks.
@boatefx4 ай бұрын
We always prefer to mount to the winch post, so as long as that is not an i-beam you could easily get a set of steps on your boat 👍
@wayne-oo5 ай бұрын
The only thing that sucks with all of these steps is when loading your boat in less than ideal weather you run the risk of piercing your bow with the step if your a little off ! I wish someone would build a swivel into a step much like a tongue Jack so you can move it out of the way while loading !
@AlexTimm5 ай бұрын
That's a really good idea. I also had this exact concern, especially having a roller trailer, it is super easy to get off center. I did put some roller guides horizontally closer to the bow on my trailer so now it is where I would have to be trying to get that far off as they will push me back to center. I'll be doing an upcoming video on it, another great mod that makes it easier to load the trailer
