I have a Pepers Dirty Tree too - I think its a great way of getting that TC/Fortin sound without spending a crazy amount of money. The build quality is also solid, nice switch/jacks/LED etc. For me its a bit of a novelty sound for low tunings that does THAT THING rather than something I'd use often. I also have a DIY build TC Integrated Preamp clone pedal and it sounds identical to the Dirty Tree
@PippPriss2 жыл бұрын
Are you sure? I have the Isosceles, and while the TC mode sounds exactly like the TC integrated of the Isosceles, the DT sounds VASTLY different then both TC circuit as well as the Fortin 33 or Grind setting of the Isosceles. DT is way more mid humping like a tubescreamer, but adding a bit of the clank of the TC integrated. Mainly tested this on a Peavey XXX clone from Bugera (333)
@kadestorm2 жыл бұрын
Definitely worth the hype, especially with that presentation. Especially useful for low tunings, but useful as a well-rounded boost solution.

I also have a clone of the TC integrated preamp and I can say that it is one of the pedals that works best on rectifiers! But, since I tried the IBANEZ ST9 (or Maxon ST9Pro+) I can say that ST9>TC Preamp, it's up to you to check, if you haven't already ...

Hey Jon, I do have a recto and the peper dirty tree pedal and love it as well. The only thing that I always found a bit strang with that pedal, it's a bit microphonic. If I tap on the back of the pedal, I hear it through the amp. Do you experience the same with yours ? I wrote to tony peper and never heard back... Great video, thanks !

@aaaargl2 жыл бұрын
Your Les Paul sounded really nice even without the boost. 8-string definately needed the low cut though. I think its important to say that this type of pedal (you know theres lots on the market with this type of circuit.. loooot of hype in the last years) do not work well with every type of amp. Especially the super high gain amps i find can't handle that much volume boost in the front end. (e.g. EVH5150s/6505s, Diezels, JVM410 etc) They handle the classic TS/SD-1 Type circuit much better. Rectos, classic 800s/JMPs, even the old Peavey Valveking that my bandmate uses work super well with the TC preamp-boost-type pedals in front. I think it got something to do with the input stages and how they are designed and how the gain is produced in the amplifiers. I'd be interested if you made the same observations regarding boost/amp-combinations, Jon.

I've had mine a little over a month now and, though the tone is great the hiss and noise are unreal. Is there something wrong in the pedal, or is it something I'm doing? I'm running into a Marshall MF350 full stack.

Great demo but tbh while it works great as a tightening boost of course I think it´s a bit of a shame that the TC integrated pre circuit is almost exclusively seen as such. It can be so much more than that and add versatility to almost any amp playing any genre. Boosting the lows a bit can really fatten up the tone which is great for bluesey or sludgy stuff for example. It’s almost like the fortin 33 turned the circuit into a meme limiting the user immensely.

Love the Recto’s loose and flubby low end everyone trying to get rid of. It makes mesa sound uniq and fat. There’s a bunch of “tighter in lows” amps can be chosen around.
