Build. A month ago I knew nothing about pc components, I decided to build one on Jan 5th and my build is almost complete, just waiting on my cpu and cooler.. It's intimidating at first but not hard at all

I didn't realize that the 9600x wasn't too much more than the 7600x, I might have gotten that instead. I read it's 14% faster, so not a huge difference anyway. I got the same mobo as you, but I went with rx 7700 xt. There will always be the "if I only spend a few more dollars..." factor, but on a budget you gotta draw the line somewhere. I started this project with an $800 budget and quickly realized that am4 doesn't make sense right now, so $800 was definitely not happening 😅 Edit... That cooler just screws into the stock Am5 back plate? I thought I missed the mount install and I rewound it, then I thought you forgot to install the mount... Then I looked up the cooler. That's crazy.. Pretty simple

True! The new B580 from Intel would have been a great addition in this build, and would have been about $50 cheaper than the 4060 I went with. Definitely looks like a solid options from the reviews I've seen so far!

Hey! Fair point, the 990 might have been a little overkill here. I've had bad experiences with cheap SSDs in the past, so I guess for me personally I put a higher value on quality storage than others. Definitely an area where you could cut down some costs though!

Hey! Fair point, from my perspective this build will also be used as my main work machine as well, so I wanted to make sure I had a modern, decent processor for my work tasks like email, word docs, power points, teams/zoom, spreadsheets, etc. Definitely agree that for a pure gaming build, I could have probably gone with a 7000 series or maybe even 5000 series from AMD to cut down cost. But for me, have the latest gen parts in a new build plus something I know is going to easily handle both my work and play workloads was worth the extra $100 or so. Call it peace of mind I suppose!

@@SamWhyze same thing. i also plan to build a pc for casual gaming and creative tasks like 3d modeling and simple animation in blender with ryzen 9 7900 12 cores and rtx 3060 12gb (other part are mostly the same as you). any comment?
