Actually, pilot seats often use sheep skin because it keeps you cool when it's hot, and warm when it's cold. It allows air to circulate under your bum and behind your back, so that those parts won't start sweating and sticking to the seat. Many airliners still use them, so the pilots will be more comfortable on long flights. I would love to have one of those MT sheepskin chairs for my gaming rig, as I live in New Orleans, where it gets kind of hot. =)

Setting up for an Anvil livery with a center mounted Virpil stick, left mounted Virpil throttle, right mounted mouse plate with control panel extension mounted over the mouse plate, and the locking casters/center shaft it would cost just under $2k USD after shipping (Before discounts). If the SC liveries are still available in 3 months I'm all in as I'm moving soon I'm all in. I don't have room for a full cockpit setup along side my work desk but this is perfect for me. Regarding price, one thing to check out before you get too hooked is shipping. For me at least, I'd have to tack on an extra $180-$200 in shipping. I'm already pretty happy with my chair so I wasn't seriously considering picking one of these up, but this is certainly something to consider (and likely one of the hazards of reviewing a sponsored product, as the reviewer wouldn't have need to check shipping costs).

A nice office chair isn't trying to solve for the same thing this is and isn't comparable in any way. This isn't a "gaming" chair like the market was flooded with years ago. It's actually built to US Air Force spec for flight sims for their pilots. And as Morph points out: this has a proper thin back so that your elbows can move due to joysticks in your hands. I also have the Gen 1 (used Morph's code when I bought it a couple of years ago!) and can't imagine playing SC without it. Having my entire kit connected permanently to the chair is a God-send. It makes things so much easier while I'm playing.

I _really_ like my v1.0, I was getting wrist and elbow issues with a traditional gaming chair because the big side protrusions interfered with my elbows, even when just doing office tasks, and this has completely eliminated that. I had to add a seat cushion because it was a bit of a hard sit, and I vaguely regret not investing in leather rather than (what was at the time the base) Cordura-now it looks like Cordura is an add-on and there's a PU leather as the cheapest option. If you do a lot of to-camera KZbin videos or Zoom calls the locking base and casters are great, I just sit down and I'm in my camera's focal plane, the shot is right, and I'm ready to go.

Interesting with the space for the center stick definetely, but never liked chair mounts. Got the full kit from Monstertech but prefer desk mounts cause it let's you easier transition from ship combat to fps combat. Having to fold away the sticks and screw them tight in place really gets tiring eventually. Especially in games like Star Citizen where you are often transitioning from ship to fps gameplay. With desk mounts you just let go of the sticks and you are already in reach of the mouse and keyboard. Just way more natural i feel.

Love all the salty people saying this chair is 'overpriced'. Think about how long your ass sits in front of your PC every day, and if you're a flight simmer you wont get an easier way to mount stick that is futureproof just with a new mounting plate if you upgrade sticks. I bought the original version about 2 years ago and it has made setting up for flying so much easier and less time consuming, and it hasn't broken down/worn out in any way. These are NOT built like a shitty gaming chair you buy for 100-400 bucks. Obviously if you're a student or tight on a budget then don't buy this chair. Most people don't just buy these chairs on a whim, I saved up for a few months and bought it during the holidays when it was discounted by like 10%.

I dont know anything about monstertech but I have to say, this looks suspiciously the same, one large foam piece with some plastic as the support. Even more to the point, im under 200lbs so im not a massive person. It was incredibly frustrating and disappointing to have pissed money away on that chair. For the same cost as the chair you are reviewing I was able to get a Herman Miller Embody and as someone who also spends most of their day at their PC for work/gaming this is the chair ive been looking for all along. Bear in mind this my opinion, again, no personal experience with the product but I would like to see the back without the cover before making any kind of decision.

I have no desk, everything is mounted to the chair including a mouse pad tablet and phone mount. even hooks to hold my headphones and VR / nun-chucks. Also the Xbox controller dongle wireless logitech one and all the extra USB cables i could ever need with 2 7 port powered USB hubs. and audio interface and midi short 25 keyboard for rust's instruments DLC. as for monitor, i'm using a 70" 4k TV and 2 43" tv's in portrait mode beside it.

As a rather large person (big, not fat) cushioning on regular office chairs seems to thin out on the seat bottom pretty fast and the form factor of a typical chair is a bit small. My daily is currently a Secret Lab Titan and a HM Aeron. The cushioning on the MT chair seat bottom looks a bit thin and I'm worried that it will compress rather quickly and feel like Im sitting on a board (not comfortable). Also where is the Drake model made from plywood, sheet metal, and burlap?

Socrates is correct, there is a big difference between receiving a product to review and being paid to do a review. When you get paid, you typically need to sign a contract that outlines things you can and cannot say. I had no contractual obligations to the chair. My positive review of it stems from genuinely liking the product after using the original prototype for over 3 years without any issues. Granted, receiving the chair is technically a form of payment and that's why I've said in 3 different places that the video is sponsored in order to clearly outline my bias. My channel isn't a product review channel, so when I do one, it's typically because I use that product myself and fully support it. I've turned down tons of sponsorships because I just cant see myself using their product.

Ridiculous price. But they know SC players like to spend.

It's the normal price for a chair like this.

Someday I hope they will make chairs with slouching in mind. Who sits perfectly upright?

Hmmm i kinda want to mount my sticks lower than you .. that possible? Also no idea why people who play an overpriced tech demo are concerned about chair prices. This is onenof the view parts of sc that is not pay 2 win 😂 I am gonna get this or a second hand herman miller cosm which is around the same price.... I dont think i can have something so obviously sc in my living room if inever wanna get laid again though 😅

The mounts are completely adjustable, the stick mount plate is on a perpendicular track that can be lowered all the way to the base of the chair if you want, although then the vertical track would interfere.

If I was shopping for a chair I would consider it, but my secretlab was about half the price, and I’m content with mine.

What? Are you physically flying? What a joke these chairs are, get a nice office chair, you don't want this

This is an office chair designed for flight sims. And the did a collab with a game company, but it's not a gaming chair. Do some actual research first.

for $1k I'd much rather get a top of the line Virpil HOTAS and mounts than a chair. Honestly at that price tag it should come with the mounts at the very least. I'm sure the quality is top notch, but that price is more than most players pay in rent/mortgage each month.
