I remember i had a chinchilla. It was given to me on christmas because i REALLY wanted one (i don't even remember why, they weren't that common in the first place back then). I remember wanting a white chinchilla and thought that he was a girl so i named him Rose (which is a femminine noun in lithuanian) until one day my parents told he was a boy to which i renamed him "little grey" (or just grey, but said in a cute-sey way). He had this habit of eating the plastic-y parts of wires, so whenever we let him out to run around, we would need to watch him because he could eat plastic which is... well, not good. He recently passed away in july being around 9-10 years old.

Coin Ru no. They can’t get wet, because they have so much fur. The dust has some minerals that are good for them, it keeps their fur soft and healthy.

They use it to wash. Their fur is so thick and dense that they can’t bath in water as it could affect the fur and skin and the dust can get right to their skin and remove all excess oils and waste. And they close their eyes but it must still hurt a bit I know what you mean.
