In this series, I assemble what I believe is the greatest team possible for each franchise. In this specific video, we're looking at the Los Angeles Clippers.
5 starters, 5 backups, and 3 rotations players. A total of 13 roster spots on each Ultimate Team. It's not just about talent, but it's about building a team that works and gels together.

The game of Basketball has been my passion since I was 5 years old. I grew up as a kid watching my dad's recorded VHS tapes of playoff games through the 70s and 80s, and collected all the Basketball cards. Something about the game and what it represents just hooked me from a very young age.
My love for the game only continues to grow as time goes on. I love studying and analyzing the game, with an unbiased perspective. Feel free to subscribe, follow me on social media, and celebrate this amazing game and it's rich history with me!

The "Ultimate Team" Clippers will share the championship-less fate of the real team. Before thinking through the ultimate teams of every franchise, it's hard to say that the Clippers miss the playoffs. But they're unlikely to make it out of the second round, with teams like the Lakers, Warriors, and Rockets likely ahead of them.

@@JohnnyRodgers3 Wilt could also have been more dominant in another social/sports era. Too many forget that BIll Russell, Wilt, Elgin, and Oscar were all drafted before MLK's "I Have a Dream" speech and the Civil Rights Act. For Wilt, I think it fueled his need to be a "skill" player rather than a "bully" like Shaq. He was already called "Goliath", and at the time the narrative could easily have been "Wilt is a thug".

Someone to consider as an honorable mention: 1970s Buffalo Braves PG Ernie DiGregorio. He was, like many here, ruined by injuries. And his stats don’t jump out at you. But he was the rookie of the year in 1974 and led the league in both free throw percentage and assists per game that season. I don’t think he should make the team, but he’s an interesting reserve option for the honorable mentions.

I forgot how good look this team on paper. Tbh, Pat Bev and Harrell should be in the list. I know they are not maybe the more talented Clippers, but that 2019-2020 season is the closest the Clippers were to win a ring, and they were key role players to that team. Most of this bench players in this ultimate team were empty stats players, IMO. Wilkins should not counted btw. Also, considering the best coach the Clippers have had is Doc Rivers, i don't see them as good as they seem.

@ManEFresh
@ManEFresh 6 ай бұрын
Lemme get this out of the way first of all. This team is good. Like very good. They actually can compete with the likes of the Lakers, Warriors and Rockets. They definitely make the playoffs and might even get a high seed. I was thinking Corey Maggette, but then you surprised me with Dominique and by that point, you probably have to let Maggette off. So this roster is in great shape and yeah, like you said, their only issue would be health. Now I'm gonna talk random spits here. You may notice that the Clippers have an absolutely horrendous history despite their good talent. Well, basically for several years in the previous century, the franchise saw young talent or draft picks they acquire and are like, "Pssh, this isn't important," and trade them away for worse value in return, tanking their records as a result. But even when they keep young talent or get them from other teams, it doesn't matter, because except for my man World B. Free, who was an anomaly, every single player they get will go through one of 3 results. 1. Get injured. 2. Have a career-altering injury. Or 3. GET A CAREER-ENDING INJURY. Seriously, this happened for years upon years. It was so bad that in 1985, when the team had a young big 3 of Norm Nixon, Derek Smith and Marques Johnson (yes, the Bucks one) to build around. By the time they drafted Danny Manning, all 3 of them were gone due to these injuries. To learn more about all of this, Mike Korzemba essentially made a Clippers Legacy of Failure video a few years ago, so check that out. Great job, Donald Sterling and those before him. Fun fact: They also swapped owners with the Celtics' one back in the early 80's, but I won't talk about that here. And then, there's Dominique Wilkins. How the heck did he end up on this team? Well, the Hawks traded him for Danny Manning. Now, yes, he was coming off an Achillies tear 3 years eariler, which is not great to come back from, but you're trading away something far more valuable to what your team had and needed. Franchise credibility. For as long as they have been in Atlanta, this was the best player they ever had. And you tossed him to the side no longer believing in him. All for a guy who has never proven to be the franchise guy for a good organization. And do you know the worst part of all this? The Hawks had the best record in the East when it was all said and done, and teams they had previously fallen to in the Celtics, Bucks, Pistons, & Bulls (MJ retired) were all gone. This was the year for that franchise to finally make it back to the Finals. With Dominique, I believe they can beat the Pacers and Knicks to that goal. Beating the Rockets? I don't know. But at least they make it for the first time since they were in a much different cultural environment in St. Louis. Instead with Danny Manning, the Hawks lose in the 2nd round to the Pacers in 6. This has to be the worst trade the Hawks have ever made in their time in the peach state. It cost them a potential ring. Dominique's time with the Clips should have never happened. But hey, those are just my thoughts. Let me know how you would think this...very odd franchise would do in this scenario. See you for the Grizzlies. God help their massive disadvantage of being a young franchise.

I'd start DeAndre Jordan at center and likely give him the majority of the minutes at center because this team does not have many great rebounders and Jordan is a beast on the boards. That said, Clippers have one of the best two way starting lineups on the perimeter and I love the versatility the bench provides. There are several underrated players on the bench such as Cassell, Brand, Harper, Manning and Wilkins. I think I would replace Smith with Baron Davis because of the ball handling Davis can provide.

Rough that the Clips have to include a 24-game career to round things out

McAdoo Brand Leonard Free Paul Griffin(PF) George(SF with Clippers) Jordan(C) L. Williams(PG) R. Harper(SG) LAST 3: Redick(deadly pure shooter with the Clippers) Wilkins Manning SOMEHOW, I MISSED ON RANDY SMITH; HE'D REPLACE HARPER. WHILE LEONARD AND GEORGE ARE EXCELLENT 3 PT SHUETERS, I THINK REDICK IS ONE OF THE DEDLIEST SHUETERS IN HISTORY.

I don't think a player with only 25 games played should be in that team's all time line up. Looking at you Dominique.

I gotta put Odom as my last man. Way too versatile to pass up

If we are taking 'Nique in because he played 25 or so games for the Clippers then we definitely should take in Walton aswell. Baron Davis was also miles better than Cassell so Davis should be in aswell. We can also argue that Odom should deserve atleast a rotation spot. All in all having DeAndre Jordan in the team shows some massive recency bias. I would take in Walton and/or Kaman into the team over him.

These guys might qualify for the Ultimate Injury team. I can see it now. First round of the Ultimate playoffs, the Clips are somehow in it after two games. CP3 pulls a hamstring and is hobbled the rest of the way. Kawhi goes down ten minutes later when his knee implodes. Paul George simply evaporates in the next game, like a victim of the Infinity Gauntlet. Minutes later, Blake Griffin will soar through the air to dunk over two Kias, a Hyundai, and an abandoned Suzuki Samurai, only to wind up with hairline fractures of his knees and feet as the backboard rattles. Bob McAdoo, who never even played for the franchise in LA, winds up the last man standing. James Harden, who isn't even on this Ultimate squad, calls out Jonny Arnett for putting this team together and demands a trade at halftime of game 3. Seriously though, you know you're really needing to reach when 25 games of post-Achilles recovery is enough to warrant someone being on even the second team here. Tons of respect for the Human Highlight Reel, but it just doesn't feel right to include him here. Then again, who else do they have for the second team that's really better than the third of a season he gave the Clips? Kudos for putting this one together. The franchise just doesn't have the depth to compete with practically anyone else in the NBA though. If they even make the playoffs, they'd likely be run off the floor in 4 games, 5 at most.
