The reason that solder isn't used in the vehicle industry especially in road racing applications is due to the constant movement of the vehicle. Over time the movement of the vehicle will be constantly causing all the wires to vibrate which will eventually leads the solder to crack causing poor electrical connections.

RylisPro thank you for your support, and your points are well made. The process on top of what you pointed out is very labor intensive. Thank you, Vince

Was wondering if just grounding the chassis or frame is sufficient. Hypertherm said something about each rail and the gantry itself.

My plug is very far (30 ft) from the CNC machine; what do you suggest?

Thank you for your support. In best practice I would move the machine as close as possible to the outlet. Grounding is essential for a stable robot. Thank you, Vince

And also does the ground bar need to be isolated from the frame?

Please review this series kzbin.info/www/bejne/i6GtZaeujc1mja8 as it will cover in detail the required grounding procedure for a plasma system. Take your time, and don't cut corners, and you'll be very happy with the result. Thank you, Vince

I have a Onefinity CNC router and sometimes it has a mind of its own when cutting a profile cut and everything points to EMI interference. I have 2 ferrites on every cable and not sure what to try next. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your support. I would suggest you start with the stock motor cables, and replace them with my double shielded motor cables, and then go over the controller to make sure a ground bus is installed in order to allow for the motor cable's shield drain to properly dissipate any EMI. If your uncertain of what I'm speaking about then please email me from the video description to setup a consultation. Tank you, Vince

So the ground is on only hooked to the ground on plug. Can you use an extension cord to reach a plug 15 feet from plasma table?
@corvetteguy50
@corvetteguy50 5 жыл бұрын
Bwilson7000, thank you for your support. An extension cord isn't best to use for grounding as at that length you would require a very thick cable to produce the lowest amount of resistance. This is why in industrial applications tinned braided copper straps are used as its super flexible, and can be used in different widths required for your particular application. A plasma ground in best practice should utilize a ground bus as reflected in the video, and a ground rod as close to the chassis as possible. I wouldn't recommend it be over 5 ft away. Thank you, Vince

If possible replacing the wood router would help greatly as these were never designed for CNC robotics use. They emit a huge amount of EMI. Thank you, Vince

That should definitely do the job. I would have to keep that big chunk of copper under lock and key so the methheads around here won't steal it.
