While you are feeling nostalgic for games you used to play, Tiny Rogues may be worth another look at. I know it is more recent than most, but a couple of changes are REALLY nice. 2 new characters (one of which is the daily mode), a handful of new weapons, and Mega Malthael is now pretty well balanced and the fight feels fair! (coming from someone who plays with their meta progress on)

Hey, clever commentors (or at least those who did maths for longer), if something "adds 3 for each other..." do we describe these as additive or multiplicative symbols? Because that's why they only scale so far (compared to suits or diamonds etc)

I'm not math guy, but it's because it's flat integer multiple rather than percentage multiple. So instead of +100% or +150% it's just +3×crabs in row... A real math person will probably barf and correct me now lol

I'd say this boost is additive, as it has a linear scaling ("ax", with "x" being the +3 per itself and "a" being how many symbols of the type there are). If it instead multiplied the result by an amount per additional symbol ("x^a", with "x" now being a multiplier), then it would've been multiplicative.

It's always better to create different multiplier groups for balancing a game like that, unless your goal is to make progression in a game... well... exponential. And this is why most OP builds in earlier versions were patched/reworked not to be too gamebreaking, if at all. (Something-something, suits, card sharks and wildcards).

Just a bit of advice that really matters on the later floors, it's usually a good idea early on to take symbols that you can't consume yet like beer, candy, cheese, etc to fill space and it's often even best in the early game to take symbols you can't consume yet over ones you can unless you're at risk of losing in the immediate future (for example super early on I think it's a lot better to take something like beer or cheese with no dwarf/mouse over milk because you need to take up space on the board and the milk may get destroyed too quickly). This is because it's super super important that you fill your board as quickly as possible and these types of symbols you can reliably consume in the future because runs where you don't eventually find dwarves/toddlers/monkeys and so on eventually are exceedingly rare. This also gives you a good injection of money around the mid game a lot of the time which is really important because the midde payments on high floors can be brutal. I'll also clarify that the sames not exactly true of ore and bananas because you might get stuck with junk if you mess with those, but sometimes you just need to fill space and you don't have a choice.

I would not stop adding symbols, even if it puts you over 20. I noticed you use the removal tokens to stay around 20. By getting up to ~30 symbols you increase the chances of a Dud not being rolled.
