I've had my Ender 3 for over a year sitting in its box... waiting for extra time / rainy day... Well I got a hip replacement last week and since I'm sitting around I decided it was time. The paper directions got me to the point of finishing the main assembly, but this video did the rest. It clearly explained all the adjustments that needed to be done. First print was a total success. Thanks, Sal

This is absolutely superb in the attention to detail and I followed it absolutely yesterday in the build of my first 3D printer the Ender 3x Pro. I watched it 3 times before I even received my printer! I found one tiny little error. At 34:40 you say the mounting screws for the Z-axis motor are M4x16. This is the wrong length, it should be M4x18. There actually are M4x16 screws in the kit, but the ones needed are the m4x18 countersunk heads. The video clearly shows countersunk screws but I did not see this at first and I went for the wrong screws. Well done, thank you so much for the best ever build video, and the voice is so reassuring.

I have the Ender 3 Pro but I'm pretty sure the mounting of the Z stepper motor is the same on both. That being said, at 6:52 the M4*16 screws were too small and my directions said to use the M4*18 (I'm going back and forth between the video and the included instructions haha). That ended up working for me. Just a tip for anyone else watching and potentially building their first printer like I am :)

Thank you! Thank you! And Thank you!!!! I have an Ender 3 I purchased a while ago, but I never had time to assemble, calibrate and print with the machine because of my job. I recently put it together and I was looking to do a quick set up and print to make sure it works since it's just been sitting there for weeks. As with all newbies that have a little technical know-how, you think things should be fairly easy and smooth. "Far from it" is being very generous in this instance. I thought the bed was leveled and it wasn't, scratched it the first time I tried to print. I thought the profile was good ... Naw!!!! Not by a long shot. I looked at a few vids to try to get my bearings and I was thoroughly unimpressed with their directions and walkthrough. I was getting close to giving up and scrapping it for another day. Then I ran into this video and said this has to work on this will be on the shelf for a little longer. Instantly I saw the difference in instruction and directions. I was able to set up things properly in about 30 minutes and I do mean everything. Bed leveling, temp adjustments, other calibrations, it all went smoothly. In fact, the most time I spent in the process was with the bed leveling. (It took about 15 minutes to get it fully completed.) Even the walkthrough with Cura was on point to give a newbie like me a good understanding of the software and what I should be doing. I know I'll need to study more, but for a starting point, this is fantastic! If you are new to 3d printing like I am, this is your best starting point. I am not one to leave reviews but I had to do so cause this just saved my 3d printing life!

I watched the video again. Almost (but not quite) cried myself to sleep. Got up this morning. Watched it again. Emailed Creality. Watched it again. Called a friend who talked me into getting a printer. She suggested bunch of stuff including unplugging and replugging all the connectors. I had a few plugged in the wrong spot. Took me about an hour ro get the bed leveled. Now I am happily printing the thing on the SD card provided. Cat,5H.gcode. Maybe there was a few other things different from your video -- the display panel is totally different but the basic commands are in there if you hop around enough. But yay,,, I am orinting!!

This is my second time buying an ender 3. Had to send back the first one last year after being frustrated through the setup process without clear instructions especially on leveling the bed. After following your tutorial with the detailed steps, I'm now printing the test dog. Will take my real dog out for a walk and hopefully come back to the test dog fully printed properly :)

Wow! I have looked at quite a few build videos for this printer, but this one is by FAR THE BEST! Every step explained and shown so it is really easy to follow. Nothing left to chance. Every question I had in my mind as I was watching was eventually answered. I actually had the sensation I was building the printer as I was watching! Thank you so much for taking the time to put this together - It is far more than a quick start guide! I feel very confident I will be able to put my Ender 3 Pro together and start printing without hassle because of this video. A nice touch showing the Cura software setup as well. The prints you showed at the end were amazing - if mine prints as good as that I'll be very happy. I can't wait for my printer to arrive on Tuesday :)

It is good practice to unclip the electrical connections to motors before moving them along the extrusions as they will act as generators and could destroy your board.

That shouldn't be a problem. There is a flyback diode inside the MOSFETs that drive the stepper motors. No voltage can get through them and back into the printer. When the MOSFETs are turning on, there is a small voltage drop. When they're fully on, the diode is basically shorted and doesn't affect the circuit.

@@PunakiviAddikti I don't believe that is entirely true - When moving the z axis on my 3 pro by hand at anything other than a snail's pace the display on the printer will briefly light up. This is with the printer unplugged, mind you.

Actually the only good instructions on youtube, thank you very much, i was stuck on this for two days because i didnt know that you could twist those spinning thingys to lift up the bed, and before that, the bed was not lining up with the nozzle so thank you so much.

Just ordered my Ender 3 will be here in a couple days. It’s actually my second printer, my first was an Anycubic mega S. Great printer, with no instructions. It worked fine but when we had to move I think something got loose and I’m not able to print really anymore. So I finally decided to just buy a new printer since there isn’t any 3D print repair shops. I’ll say that now that I understand how these machines work better than my first time, this is a wonderful instruction piece that I wish I had the first time. From explaining the parts, how to properly install them, all the way to doing a basic Cura explanation. I can’t wait to start printing again. To anyone new to this hobby, welcome and for your information if you haven’t heard, printing is slow, it’s like watching paint dry except that’s actually faster. Good luck!

Thanks for the detail on this. After seeing that I wasn’t missing any steps, I checked again and again in this video and Reddit and found that my Z - Axis bump switch was pressed all the way flat. Popped it up to where it is supposed to be and I’ve saved Christmas 2023!!! Thanks for the assist btw! 🤘🏼

This was super helpful thank you. It's my first 3d printer and i currently have a dog coming out! Soon to move on to visors for health workers. I had a few issues with the X-axis gantry step - it didnt seem to align properly and i had to force it a little - on the video you didnt mention it. Also at the end i was a bit unclear why we were heating things up before alignment. And finally the 'Home' button leaves the nozzle off the edge of the plate, which i was (am) confused about. Oh and I bought a glass plate to go on, so had to adjust the z-stop. Overall though your explanation was superb.

For the longest time I could not get my prints to work, I had recently upgraded to the CR Touch and the magnetic print bed and couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. I've been printing for just under a year so I'm still pretty inexperienced. I tried so many forums, help articles and other videos. Thank God for your video, I had no idea that the bed and the X axis had adjuster screws! I knew something was wrong because the bed and print nozzle didn't seem as stable as when I had first bought the printer, but I couldn't see the adjustment. Just wanted to say thank you for helping me get back to enjoying my hobby :)

Overall a great instructional video. At 6 min and 50 sec it is telling how to install the Z axis motor, and says to use a 4 x 16 screw, those don't fit. The correct screw is the 4 x 18, it would be helpful to mention that these screws have countersunk heads. I was wondering why Creality didn't include countersunk 4 x 16 screws, then it became obvious when I looked at the pictorial assembly instructions that a 4 x 18 with a countersunk head was called for and required. Other than that issue the video is stellar!!.
