Excellent work! My opinion on the Touareg: 1. Check the specs when buying. Many do come with electric/memory seats. Seems the previous owner disliked electric seats 2. Our diesel isn’t the cleanest, so I’d be inclined to get the petrol versions 3. At 5M totally worth it Would choose it over the X5 any day. And I’m a BMW diehard . Prado: no. Discovery 4 heck no.

@@kevinswackyworld not too tech savvy and I’m not an expert , but yes removal of the dpf (with ÉCU remapping) would potentially solve the dirty diesel issue. The DPFs get clogged quite fast in our settings and end up ruining the engine. In other jurisdictions that I’ve lived in, it is illegal to remove the DPF. Your ride wouldn’t pass the emissions inspection.

Did some reading on DPF removal. For some of the newer models (those with AdBlue), removal is not easy. There is a 2nd cat converter downstream from the DPF that would get clogged with soot. Then there is the urea injection system to deal with. And re-tuning, remapping, reprogramming. Petrol version sounds an easier option in my non-expert opinion.

Well, if you look at it in a different perspective, you will realize that that price is worth it. For instance, it has a brake pad sensor which will warn you if your pads are warn out. How many times have you seen people drive with warn out brake pads without their knowledge. When they happen to notice probably the damage is big to an extent disk rotors are requiredto be changed. That could be a costly maintenance that otherwise a sensor would have alerted you and you would avoid that extra cost. Another thing is tyre pressure monitoring system which would alert you of any indifference that could potentially lead to accident in cases it pulls on one side, or it would save you the cost of replacing tyres more often because under/over inflated tyres usually leads to tyres being warn out quickly. There is so much more that I can't mention all. As for me, as long as you have the cash, spend to avoid spending more at a later date. Remember cheap is expensive.

I have Passat Mk7, it has same sun roof, same gear nobe , same steering wheel, dashbord almost , and very nice leather+ electronic seats, Audi and VW they share electronic seat , Audi used to be American car but later on bought by VW, VW cars are more durable compare to audi or Porsche Cayenne, Porsche too much electronic and it brings problem every now and then

Nice review however kuna kitu I need to highlight, you were given a very basic trim to review and that's why you imagine germans failed. Well no. I own a SEL trim whith more features. All electic operated seats, heating and cooling seats, all round camera that gives you birds eye view, soft closing doors, air suspension, drive assist features such blind spot monitoring, lane drift assist, safe distance assist and so much more. So RLine model is still one of the basic models of Touareg.

Diesel is good in terms of fuel, but the cost of maintaining it super passes that of a petrol, infact the cost of fuel in petrol would be equivalent to the cost of maintaining a diesels.
