Q: Can I send you a deck to check out?
A: Only patrons can send me decks and expect a reply, because I get too many of these requests to manage. Consider joining the discord (links above) and posting your decks in the #decks channel for community feedback.
Q: Why didn’t you play this certain card I would play?
A: Because I don’t think it is as good as every other card in the deck.
Q: Why did you make that play at time stamp XX:XX?
A: I usually talk through my plays, so watch again and see if I mention it (I often do, sometimes during the turn after the play to keep the video moving). If I don’t mention it at all, I may have missed it. I miss plays several times a day, and so do other players.
Q: How can I support the channel?
A: Watching the videos IS supporting the channel. There are many options above if you have extra money and would like to help more. I appreciate it, I have a lot of bills and life stuff to manage, but it is not required. Take care of yourself first, watch the videos, then give other financial support if you really want to.
Q: Will you play janky deck xyz?
A: My mission is to show people decks that they can play often, win games with, and feel successful with. I don’t enjoy decks that strive to achieve an interaction but rarely win (aka, janky decks). There are many successful jank players on KZbin, and you should check out their channels. I am competitive, I like winning, and I like helping others win and feel successful. That is why you won’t see janky combo decks on the channel very often.
Q: Do you show all your games, or do you edit out your losses?
A: I don’t show all my games. The video is usually the best moments of between one and three hours of recording. I remove games for a number of reasons, both wins and losses. Some games are slow, some aren’t competitive because of lands, some are the same matchup over and over. More losses get cut out than wins because winning is more fun for me, which makes for better content for most viewers. It can be disappointing for those who want to see me lose (yes, people watch just to see me lose, I see you!).
Q: If you edit out some of your losses, how do I know if a deck is good and worth crafting?
A: If you watch the entire video, I always give my honest opinion about the deck at the end. As always, you are welcome to draw your own conclusions. My goal is to show off a variety of decks that can get a player with skill and conviction into Mythic, and I want them to have fun doing it. I almost never show a video of a deck that I don’t believe in, and if I don’t like a deck after playing it, I guarantee you will know about it if you watch the whole video and listen to what I have to say.

I have spent a lot of time talking about and looking over my Esper Doom foretold Deck. Here is a summary of my thoughts: The quality of a card in the deck is based on it’s synergy with the three Core cards: Yorion, Doom Foretold, and Dance of the Manse. Skyclave Apparition, although it is good removal spell, has anti synergy with doom foretold and no synergy with Dance. It has Ok synergy with yorion. I cut it completely to run more boardwipes. many 60 card control decks run 4x boardwipe, so i thought five or six should be the right number in 80 card decks. There were so many games where I either had the boardwipe, or i lost. birth of Meletis is synergetic with Doom and Dance, but because of its place on the mana curve, in most situations does not synergize much with Yorion. I found that the 0/4 wall was simply irrelevant in most situations, because Rouges have flying, it can’t block brushfire, and because it was simply too slow(i need a blocker this turn), making it a suboptimal replacement for an omen of the sea. as a draw spell, it leads to flooding out whereas omen of the sea does not. I am very surprised that you do not run even a single copy of Treacherous Blessing. it is extremely powerful in conjunction with yorion or doom foretold. I also cut down on ECD because I did not consistently have reanimation targets, and 5 mana removal is just too expensive against aggro when I don’t draw a boardwipe. It’s also not good against rogues. I went down to 2 copies, and added on 1 Ashiok in its place. I also cut glass casket because it is anti synergistic with doom foretold and not that good with yorion. Unless it gets milled, it’s probably not going to be in the graveyard to get back with Dance. If you’re wondering why I don’t mention every synergy, such as casket +apparition, it’s because there it is an 80 card deck, and as I said earlier, it revolves around 3 core cards. And Skyclave Apparition, although strong, is NOT one of the core cards. What do you all think? My opinions are not fixed. I welcome you to change them.

I found casket+doom foretold to have positive synergy because I've found several times my doom foretold can continue on when sacrificing the trapped creature on my turn when the opponent has nothing on the field. Technically you can always cancel out your own doom foretold anytime you would be left the choice of having to sacrifice the skyclave. I do find myself challenged with esper doom and green decks that manage to get their draw card abilities out (great henge or garruk's uprising) which usually produce a challenge with wipe cards as they continue to just land creature cards while drawing add'l cards on the following turn. This means you end up needing cards like skyclave or ECD to take care of those. You'll note, CGB at the end of his video flashed up his match ups and it looks like in all cases, he lost against green. Regarding treacherous blessing, you have to pull out of your 80 card deck the doom foretold in hopes to get rid of this. I've been burned by this card several times and with omen of the sea, golden egg + yorion + charming prince loop, your hand size should be ok.

I've discovered that in trying to build decks, you need to ask yourself these 3 questions. 1. Is the payoff better than ugin? 2. Is it better at aggro than Embercleave? 3. Is it's engine better than The Great Henge? (4. Is it Rogues?) I sort of gave up on deck building because of this... It got too depressing.

@ 40:56 - feels kind of a room temperature IQ moment to not play the swamp first when the opponent has this mana open. It can reasonably only be four counters (lofty denial, jwari disruption, negate or keep safe - in order of likeliness) and two of those require you to pay one mana to avoid the counter. Great finish of the game regardless though!

skyclave aparition actually gives the OWNER of the exiled card a token when it leaves the battlefield. So you could have exiled your solemns that were mind controlled by the lullmage or played from the robber and if they then killed your apparition you;d get the token because you owned the exiled card and your opponent was only in control of it. and they wouldnt draw a card since solemn needs to die for that.

I've been using an Esper Doom deck in historic that is kicking ranked it has won me 13 matches to date and only lost once and it wasn't to my opponent it was because the shuffler decided to screw up the deck

Treacherous blessing is a good card in enigmatic etrata when you mull to 4 or 5 and then you have a full hand. It feel soooooo good. Elspeth's nightmare is another good card in enigmatic etrata. Chapters 1 and 2 go off and for chapter 3 you get etrata. Try it cgb. Because I have liked elspeth's nightmare before rogues was big. A lot of value for 3 mana.

I play this deck since the early zendikar rising meta and y was playing esper dance since doom firetold exists. I would recommend Tome over golden egg, i seems like a nombo but it isnt, you can sac it on doom if you need, ENightmare is my hot newcomer since rogue decks. I play solemn since its release on doom decks cause its so good. 2 cling is too much 4 crawling Barents is too much. Sea gate restoration and shepperd of the flock could be considered ;)
