The inner rocker panels are hard to access behind the now plastic outer rockers. I was able to get 90 degree wand in seem and fog this area that’s prone to rust. Good work

The only issues I’ve had is the car is very messy to work on and the trunk lid drains got plugged from so much undercoating and trunk lid was holding water. Other than that I’ve seen vehicles newer than mine needing rocker panels and other body work where mine just shows a little rust along the rear dog legs. Great stuff!

Hello Brad, I'm buying a new 2023 Kia Rio and I live in the salt belt, (Michigan), and I'm wondering what I should do since the car is straight out of the factory. Should I do multiple coatings, black paint, clear coatings underneath the car since the car is brand new? Or should I just stick with fluid film. I want to reapply it every year or so to ensure it doesn't rust, just don't know what I should do for a new car.
@bradsbuilds Жыл бұрын
Hi! I'm my experience, being as thorough as you can with fluid film or other types of oil based undercoating is your best bet. Taking your time and being thorough will make a big difference over just generally spraying the underside. Relatively inexpensive FF sprayguns can be purchased online. If you don't have access to a compressor, you can get a case of aerosol cans and purchase wand extensions for the tips to reach into the cavities. Depending on how harsh your winters are, you could always reapply after 6 months instead of a year. Be sure to be as thorough with the body cavities (quarter panels, fenders, rockers, door bottoms, etc.) as you are with the underside. Thank you for watching!

What's your take on the metal in the fender wells that hides behind factory sound proofing material? It is removable, but not easily. Do you spray in behind this or just let it be? Worried the fabric will become saturated and fail.
@bradsbuilds Жыл бұрын
I'm not exactly sure what you're referring to. The sound deadening material that I'm familiar with inside of fender wells is usually a fabric pillow that is just held in with friction. I've also seen plastic wrapped foam material that seals the fender to door gap internally. Either way, both can be moved out of the way if necessary when removing fender liners. The fluid film shouldn't bother them. I know I certainly haven't worked on every car out there so I may have never witnessed exactly what you're dealing with, but I hope my response helps regardless.
