please please PLEASE do your research on what products are good for your skin type and remember the food you eat and how much water you drink is a MASSIVE part of your skin’s health. i have genetically clear skin but i do a ton of research on skincare. my brother had cystic acne for years since middle school until he started eating better, and his skin cleared like magic. just know everyones skin is different and not everything will work for you!

I’m 33 and have been using several Korean skincare products lately and have noticed an improvement in my overall skin hydration and texture. I do think the “glass skin” routine is a bit too high maintenance for the average person though. The main things that you need are a cleaning balm/oil, gel cleanser, serum, spf moisturizer for daytime, and moisturizer for night. Toners, essences, and masks aren’t really necessary unless you just like to use them. Retinol is great but you cannot use it with certain things like salicylic acid. Diet, exercise, adequate sleep, and water intake are factors that effect your skin too.

Gel cleansers aren’t necessary, different skin types use different kind of cleansers like foam, moisturizers with spf in the day time isn’t needed as well, that could do or just using a moisturizer and spf separately, and serums most definitely aren’t necessary

Some drying ingredients to look out for are denatured alcohol, ethanol or just simply alcohol, however, there are some alcohols that are good for your skin such as cetyl alcohol. Also look out for glycerin in products! It's a really good ingredient especially for moisturising. Also beware of fragrances like linalool if you have sensitive skin it could be irritating. Also for people of colour some sunscreens could leave a white cast mostly mineral ones, I think the ingredient that causes this is the colouring of zinc oxide. Also if you want to use a mineral sunscreen make sure it uses non nano zinc or titanium oxides as if it isn't non nano it can absorb into the blood stream which of course isn't good. Just some tips for everyone! Have a good day

Hi, thanks for sharing! I agree with some of the information that you shared. According to Frieling, alcohol can be a helpful component of a product to help ingredients permeate the skin, preserve the product, and make it seem lighter when applied (Migala, 2020). Alcohol may be particularly drying and irritating to the skin, thus skincare products containing alcohol can harm the skin. Alcohol is a solvent that can dissolve the skin's natural lipids and oils, which can interfere with the skin's ability to act as a protective barrier against the environment's harmful rays and pollutants (Metrus, 2022). Alcohol can also irritate and inflame the skin, which can result in redness, itchiness, and even peeling. This is especially true for people with sensitive skin or dry skin since alcohol can dehydrate the skin further and exacerbate already present dryness. Denatured alcohol and SD alcohol, for example, can be very abrasive and damaging to the skin (Amable, 2020). In general, it's crucial to use skincare products with caution and look for formulations that are tailored to your unique skin type and issues. It may be advised to stop using an alcohol-containing product if it is causing you irritation or dryness and consult a dermatologist for specific advice.

I’ve heard there is no scientific backing for the idea of “microtears” but chemical exfoliants definitely are more “even” and you don’t risk scrubbing too hard with your hands since you’re not scrubbing at all.

A good tip as well is there are different types of acne, if you have the ability to do so I would recommend you talk to a doctor/dermatologist. Hormonal acne for instance is better treated with very specific solutions and sometimes depending on how intense it is, you might be recommended a prescription. I have hormonal acne and have tried thousands of products and every single one has made my acne worse, i finally found one that actually works on my type of acne which is called PanOxyl, but once again you should try and figure out which kind of acne you have before you start throwing stuff on your face.

I had hormonal acne for a long time and the only thing that finally helped me and cleared up my skin was... I stopped the consumption of dairy (basically anything containing cow's milk; there are many alternatives such as oat, almond, coconut, soya milk that it's really not a big problem to switch to one of those). I realise it might not work for everyone, but I honestly recommend everyone struggling with hormonal acne try.

I had acne all over my face, neck and back for 14 months. I tried all the natural and unnatural(?) way but nothing works. I actually went to derma at first month because it’s unusual for me but failed. Then I decided to have courage and went back to derma after 14 months but in different hospital this time. It cost more money tho. The doctor told me that it may take 3 or more months since I was diagnosed with acne vulgaris. After a week, I decided to lessen my stressors, which means- I quit my job, avoid foods that would trigger pimples, more water than usual and no negative/problem thoughts. The result? After a month, all my acne’s disappeared. Like seriously, I just help myself and my doctor haha. Now, I’m working in a non toxic environment. I’m just glad that I got the courage to leave my prev job and start a new life.

I just saw someone post that you do the oil cleanser only at night when washing off the makeup and then the water cleanser a.m. and p.m.

For the cleansers: use them at night only or it might cause dryness. In the morning, use a toner instead

And you shouldn’t exfoliate every day, you should also not use a face mask every day. Maybe 1-2 times a week. However you should cleanse and moisturize every day.

I saw some people say that the things like exfoliation, toners and essences are not really necessary for my skin bc im just a teenager, but now im not sure, some people say it’s important (especially for glass skin) and some people say its not and now i just feel lost

ive been struggling with acne since 4th grade, and im now 15. I HATE having to do my skincare. I take 1-hours out of my day everyday to do my skincare. All my relatives try to give me advice but nothing works and all its doing it pointing out the insecurities even more. Im so tired and upset. everyone around my age has clear skin without having to do anything but use a cleanser while i spend and hour a day trying to achieve that skin. right now my skin is bumpy, dry, with acne and hyperpigmentation. im about to ask my parents if i can get pills or use a birth control to help with my skin. any adivce you would give?

I'm not the poster of this video, but I had really bad acne when I was a teenager. It's probably a hormonal thing that can go away once you're older. But I can highly advice you to not over wash and dry out your skin. Use a light lotion (e.g. the Nivea soft lotion) and - trust me on this - drink LOTS of water. 2-3 liters depending on your activity level. Try not to overdo your skin. The issue is: your skin is oily and you think you need to dry it out. No! You need to provide it with a base line of moisture, so clean your skin gently in the evening (no need to do it in the morning unless you sweat and it's 30°C every night), put on the Nivea lotion and DONT PICK. If you have open wounds from picking, I recommend a lotion containing Dexpanthenol from the pharmacy. It's a lotion that supports the skin to heal. I use it as a spot treatment when I pick a pimple. Ask your doctor, in Germany, the lotion is called Bepanthen, maybe it helps to find it if interested. I know it's hard, I felt exactly the same, try to be gentle to yourself. An hour of skincare daily is not needed ❤
