I thought I could just grab a random notebook and use it until I found out that I’m actually an annoyingly picky person who want blank/grid softcover thick bond books with thin paper for brainstorming, dated and pre-structured bond books for planning and undated lined bond books for journaling. There’s still a lot more to be discovered lol

I smiled when you mentioned muji's gel pens. I've been using them for almost 10 years, but not so many people are aware of them. They do not have the classy look, but I love how they have very fine points like 0.25 and 0.38. In terms of quality, I think muji pens are at par with Sarasa pen. Sarasa pen is great for English alphabets.

It's great to meet a fellow pen enthusiast! I really enjoy walking through MUJI too. Lately, I’ve been leaning more towards Sarasa pens because they seem to smudge less when writing. Plus, I absolutely love the muted color palettes they offer!

@FlourishedHope
@FlourishedHope Ай бұрын
Great question! I try not to be too hard on myself when it comes to my writing-if I make a mistake, I usually just scratch it out and rewrite. But for more important pages, like the Yearly Goals, if the mistake is too messy to fix with whiteout, I’ll simply rip out the page and start fresh! 😂 That’s one of the best perks of using a binder instead of a bound notebook-you can remove pages easily without any fuss.

I use the spiral bound college ruled notebooks that I buy whenever they are on sale on Amazon. I'm not into pretty because I have no artistic talent at all. But I love mixing up the Scripture notes I take in these notebooks, so I write out the Scriptures on cute little note pads, also from Amazon, and attach them to the page with different washi tapes. Since I am taking the sermon notes in real time, the penmanship is pretty bad! And because I have arthritis, it makes writing nicely more difficult. But using the different sizes and designs of small note papers gives the page a more aesthetic appearance. And I never knew how tiny I could write!

Hi Liz-How do you recommend storing regular art pens for journaling? Is it okay for them to be stored standing straight up or flat? I sometimes like keeping pen sets in original package. Love your 5-part journaling system and just started organizing my binder 😊. Would really love for you to do a video on Notion. I recently downloaded it for daily/weekly to-do lists but it feels a bit overwhelming. Thanks!
@FlourishedHope

Hi! Thank you for your kind words and thoughtful questions! As a calligrapher, I’ve also wondered about the best way to store all the pens I own. From what I’ve heard, it’s generally recommended to store pens horizontally to ensure even ink flow, which is why I do this for all my fountain pens, gel pens and brush pens. However, for my everyday Sarasa pens, I prioritize effectiveness and easy access. So, I store them standing upright in a pen holder or mason jar. So far, it’s been working well without any ink flow issues ☺️

Hello! ☺️ The binder can be any A5 6-ring binder, but the one I show in the video has unfortunately been discontinued. However, here’s another one I also own that’s very similar to the original: amzn.to/3BuYJfH As for the dot-grid paper, the Daily Journaling and Words to Live By tab pages are made with a dot grid, but I haven’t included any blank dot grid pages at this time. I’ll definitely keep that in mind for future updates-thank you for the suggestion!

That’s an excellent question! I had the same confusion about the distinction between a journal, planner, and diary. The Commonplace Book is a new concept for me 🤔. I used to keep my journal entries scattered, which made it difficult to look back and enjoy the benefits of journaling. However, since discovering my 5-Part Journaling System and using highlighting stickers to emphasize important points, I've found it much easier to revisit my entries.
