not to seem arrogant, but I knew everythin' Jay said in this video, but I still watched it for 2 reasons: I'm a nerd of mixing and, when I first started time ago, nobody explained mixing so faster but, at the same time, so clear. Trust me guys, if you follow what he says in this video you can mix; It'll take practice but come back here everytime you don't succed in something, cuz he explained everythin', good work brother! p.s. it's even more accurate cuz he made the whole mix on a two track beat, without the stems, I know a lot of ppl rap on youtube beats and stuff like that. Jay already mixed his beat so it doesn't have to do nothing on it, when you pick a yt beat maybe you wanna threat it a lil beat, to make it sound good for a rec on it.
@tctc9593 жыл бұрын
What do you mean with threat it a lil bit?
@gl4z6833 жыл бұрын
treat, I'm sorry
@tctc9593 жыл бұрын
Ah, No worries. But how do you treat It? Like Just Change the Volume or eq it too? I never edited the downloaded Beats, cause i thought they already did everything.
@gl4z6833 жыл бұрын
you have to think that most of them shape the beat to be put on KZbin, the listener has to be impressed by the beat presence and most of the time by the 808s/bass, so they go hard on the bass (low frequencies in general) so that the beat has more punch. Usually, I find that there's a lot of information even in the low-mid field as well, on the sides. That, as well, gives you that sensation of punchiness and loudness so you're gonna buy it more probably. The kick is often squashed, so when you go to master he will eat all the headroom for a proper loudness. When you have to mix on these beats, I usually put 2 channel strips eqs, one that works on the mid and one that works on the side, and so I clean up everything and let the beat breath for the artist voice as well. Of course, ad you say, gain stage it before everything.

For anyone new here, instead of automating the levels just get a vocal rider plugin, it has the same effect and does it automatically. It does not replace a compressor like the automation, but it helps it
