The directions say, and a phone call verified that for the 32 inch 4 by 8, you install the rods (all 4 of them) in the third and fifth holes from the top. Not sure where this other advice is coming from but the rest of the video is very helpful. Thanks.

The company's 'how to video' explained everything. I had no problem. Also, if Vego separated the hardware, they would have to hire some folk to do that - meaning extra operations during manufacturing. I don't have an issue with creating a job but each unit would cost more, overall. I'll take the time to separate everything myself.

Great video! I put together one that was 8’ x 2’. Your tips were very helpful for assembly. The only thing I did different was I only ripped the plastic off until the holes were uncovered and then once I had it in place in my yard, I took off the plastic thus it didn’t get scratched. Also, I sorted all of the nuts and bolts before I started making it pretty fast and simple to assemble.

Great video 👍👍👍The plastic was a pain for me, especially putting 3 panels together before realizing that the back side had plastic on them too. I only removed the plastic on the outside of the panels where the panels meet to avoid scratching. The bolts in one bag were a pain too and agreed with you, they should separate them. Other than that, I was impressed with the quality and packaging.

Those beds look great. We've grabbed a few similar ones from Bunnings here in Australia. Different brand, but pretty similar! We chucked some cattle panel between a couple and made an archway which worked out great! They are super easy to build these things, and look really great!! Big fan of raised beds.

We are doing the exact same thing with the cattle panels! We are putting the beds short end to short end with the cattle panel trellises going between them! I do too, they just give a good feel to a garden I think. It keeps it organized, easy to work in, and just makes everything more.. comfortable for sure!

THANK YOU for your tip about placing the short straight panel on the inside when aligning. Called customer support - told me they have never built one before and said it doesn’t matter how you layer the sides it will all fit. But from an engineering perspective - there has to be a reason why they insist curves pieces must be on inside. Means there is a better way to layer the straight pieces than just random layering.
@WhitepepperFarmshomestead
@WhitepepperFarmshomestead 10 ай бұрын
You’re welcome! Yeah it never called it out in the instructions but I’ve built similar beds and I put the small piece on the outside (I can’t remember if I showed that in this video or not) and it made the bed kind of bow out. To me it just looks so much better with the small piece on the inside. And you don’t have any sharp edges!
@VeryMiley
@VeryMiley 10 ай бұрын
@@WhitepepperFarmshomestead exactly. The biggest risk of any raised bed is the bowing out. It’s inevitable - but with wood beds you make yourself you can use braces and corner supports and 4x4s to try and get the most out of it. But with these pre manufactured beds, it’s harder to finagle … so every tip helps to be successful ! Thanks again!
@WhitepepperFarmshomestead

I just bought my 4th one. I did 8’x2’ for a row of tomatoes. All the curved pieces were dented so I messaged Vego and was told to unbend then rebend them myself. That’s a hard no (I’m 66 and 4’10’). When I explained that to Vego they started back at the beginning and asked which sections and what the damage was (I had already sent them photos). Needless to say, I am very disappointed. I am moving into a new home next winter and was planning on buying 8 more. Not so sure now. Will be checking out other companies that sell the same product. Maybe they had a bad day, but now I am stuck with a damaged bed. I have one from Ollie, so maybe I’ll go back to them for the rest.

Heather! I read your super awesome comment and now it isn’t there anymore! You had two awesome tricks for assembly that I didn’t do and they were honestly awesome! And also… as far as vego vs OLLE quality I would have to say vego. The metal seems a bit more sturdy and OLLE doesn’t come with support bars (they might now but when I got mine that didn’t). As far as Vegega.. I’ve heard better things about them and they seem more comparable to Vego but I don’t have any personal experience with that one. Also.. Since they scratch so easily, why not just leave the plastic on? "Rounded top nut" I've always known as an "acorn" nut"! Since they don't seperate the nuts, bolts and washers, maybe you could do that yourself beford you start building to make it go faster! Just some thoughts!

You appear to be a well-meaning, helpful young man with good video skills, but you may wish to talk with people who do this kind of work professionally or who have more experience. For example, although I am no pro, I always use a parachute bag to keep fasteners handy and separate when I have to complete large assembly task, or I wear a bib with multiple pockets; I also know of people who use old muffin tins (Note that I used the verb "use", not "utilize".) Also, Vego clearly tells you to only peel what is necessary to fasten parts together and to peel off the rest when the bed is assembled. It keeps parts from getting scratched and the overall weight makes it easy to peel without having to work hard. Just two examples. If a low level 4 by 8 bed takes you more than 80-90 minutes to assemble, check your process.

What a patronizing comment to leave on what is by far the most helpful online video about putting Vego beds together! And Vego does NOT clearly tell you to only peel what is necessary to fasten parts together and to peel off the rest when the bed is assembled. It says the first step is to peel off the film.
