I've been making this same gel for a few years now with some added essential and hair oils (minus the guar gum, it's not necessary). As a tip, you really can put the flax seeds, and marshmallow root all into a pot at once, boil, let it thicken, then strain through cheesecloth. Prob cuts the time from what Curl Mix directions say, FYI :-)

Hi Alyssa, when you use the concentrator nozzle to blow air in between your hair you won't get frizz. I do that at the end of the night after my hair has air dried most of the day. Great video!

I know nothing about your hair type BUT i'm thinking that because you deep conditioned for two days its not accurate as to how effective the gel actually was because the curl definition could have mostly came from the deep conditioning and if you use the gel alone you might not get the same results? I know I'm late, but I think it will because I use flax seed gel alone without any product prior ( except normal shampoo and conditioner) and it results in my hair turning EXTREMELY defined. So, try it out and see.

+Kay Dee it's like 4a-4b wet when dry it's puffy curly and I can also comb the curls out lol my hair is very interesting, yes I buy the Bentonite clay powder and make a paste out of it and apply to my hair and it does define it as well and tightens my curls and I've never tried that clay before
