MerrahNextDoor I am too. My only reservation is I don’t cornrow, 2 strand, 3 strand or flat twist. I her that those are some of the rings you need to do to your hair in order to manage the hair. I don’t know what to do. I stopped relaxing in 2015 but I still have relaxer on the ends, don’t want to big chop, but I do trim. I’m confused.

Tips: Research what your hair porosity is, as well as hair type. Watch natural hair videos of You Tubers who have YOUR hair type, so you can get an idea of how your hair might react to the products and techniques they use. Might is the key word here. I saw a video of someone with 4C hair who had an allergic reaction to coconut oil! Not all hair textures can use all the same products. I hear of people with 4C hair watching videos and taking tips from people with 3C hair. Not the best idea! If you use the same products as a 3C person, and try to do the same techniques, then you probably won't get the same results as 3C people. You'll be struggling and struggling to make your hair do something that it doesn't do naturally. Get to know your hair, and embrace your texture. If you're 4C, 4D, 4E, don't expect your hair to look like Shizen Wong. Save yourself the heartache. Learn what works for you!

Natural is like a Part-time job & OT! I love having my natural curls out but going through the styling process can become overbearing and the amount of money I spend on hair products (natural oils, generic brands and high end brands) is KRAAYYY! Shouldn't complain because I always love the results of soft, shiny & good smelling hair from the products and process. sometimes wish there was a faster & not so expensive.

Amy Clements Which area of the UK are you from? I've found a few in good stores in Manchester, one sells Giovanni and Aubrey Organics which I love. I'm the same, wouldn't buy from Amazon/ebay etc but I trust the UKcurlies website. Also, if the general black hair shops aren't selling what you want you could try TK Maxx, they sell higher end shampoo's and conditioners etc x

Just a little note: For folks trying to go natural AND curly girl method, both of these (shampoo & conditioner) have silicone in them and while that helps with styling curls, it can build up in hair and create that vicious cycle of needing to use sulfate shampoo because the only way to get rid of silicone build up is with Sulfate/clarifying shampoos.... I've used both of these products and while they create great slip, it's sometimes a good idea to try sulfate, paraben, & silicone free products (ex: most Shea Moisture products are free of these things). Just a suggestion for fellow curly girls.

I'm transitioning and after watching tons and tons of videos I decided not to follow any methods because it becomes overwhelming. I want to be free with my hair so I'm trying it all, lol. No matter what I use on my hair if I do I good cleanse with apple cider vinegar or shampoo all the build up is gone. At first I was falling into the don't do this and you can't do that trap and it was becoming so overwhelming now I just do me and it's awesome. I have been transitioning for 16 months now and my hair looks and feel great. If I'm in the store and see I product I want to try I don't even look at the ingredients I buy it slap it on my head and if it's awesome I keep it and if it sucks I return it so I guess you would call this my method, lol. What I've learned from doing this is I would have missed out on some amazing products if I followed all these different natural hair methods.
@daniellequinteros7781

Socialmediaoverload CG method is just works for me. I've always stuck to my natural curls (except heat straightening) and I've tried it all! I stick to a couple brands because that's the easiest for me because I know its mostly natural and don't have to worry about build up or chemicals drying my hair. Shea Moisture products are the bomb diggs and work for my hair type (2b-2c) and I absolutely recommend trying some, but by all means everyone should try a load of different things and do what makes your hair the healthiest and look the prettiest. I just wanted to put it out there that not all the products Alyssa mentions are CG. But holy moly her videos are AMAZING!. I have tried so many different things with my hair styling because of her so I'm not bashing or hating on her methods AT ALL btw.
@Socialmediaoverload
@Socialmediaoverload 9 жыл бұрын
I've tried one shea moisture product that I hated it was the deep conditioner in the tanish looking packaging. My scalp itched so bad it felt like it was on fire and it broke my forehead out. I never break out so that sucked :-( I had to rewash my hair all over again which really sucked but my scalp was miserable and so was I. I don't have a holy grail shampoo yet but my holy grail conditioner is the Giovanni deep moisturizing conditioner and my holy grail deep conditioner is by cantu. I love trying new deep conditioners more than any other products but I always find myself going back to the cantu one. I still continue to venture out from it because I never know it might be a product I love better out there. I will continue to try new shampoos once I finish one I try another one so eventually I will find a shampoo I don't want to live without, lol. I'm one of those people who shops the whole hair care isle not just the natural products section.

Omg, your hair is to die for. I've been natural all my life but i've never tried to really care for it as much til couple days ago. Yes this is for persons who want to go natural but I'm getting good tips from this video nonetheless. Keep up the good work. Did I also mentioned your hair is gorgeous????

Going natural is like to quit smoking its hard to do. I feel like an addict there's temptations everywhere to stay relaxed. I have my mind set my natural hair is ugly ppl made fun of it although my relaxed hair is ugly too it doesn't grow either.

BLESS YOUUUUU this is so helpful! Especially the part about not chopping it off that it my worst fear. I've been so confused about what to use and I think it's making things worse to not have a set routine haha. Now I have a better idea of what to do :) thanks so much!

TheTumiShow Productions yass gurl I would suggest shoulder length like a lob or a Bob and stay away from relaxers and heat. I did this and my hair is not perfect but I have my curls back

Hi Alyssa! I'm trying to transition from relaxed hair to natural hair. My hair is already short but my question is where do I start??!!! My hair is straight (from the relaxer) and thick, I'm not sure of my curl type or if I have any curls at all! Oh, my last relaxer was about 2 1/2 months ago! Help!!!

my hair is shoulder length and damaged and my mom wont let me cut off everything thats been permed yet so im just letting it grow till i can today i tried sort of a twist out and it was pretty good so i might do that so that i wont have to put as much heat on my hair

Yeah I just started and I haven't put heat on my head in a month. It's been hard though. I just don't see any growth happening! It's frustrating.

Since when did keeping the hair God gave you become a part time job?? Just keep your hair healthy by washing it from time to time and eating healthy etc.!! You are taking care of hair, NOT A PET!! Sheesh!!

It's a lot of work to keep naturally curly hair healthy. You obviously do not have natural curly hair if you didn't get that metaphor.

I see what you're saying, but if you want it to grow out and STAY healthy, you should take those precautions. Many African American women don't have 'long' hair because they don't treat natural hair the way it should be treated. So yes, it can be a part time job.

Wow! I see this is old but so encouraging! I am starting to feel like this going natural thing is possible... July 2015 was my last relaxer but I look nuts. I have never gotten a weave or worn a wig in my life, so it was nice to hear I don't HAVE to do that! :)
