You're the only one I've seen to point out that the bearings on either side of the turbine need to be rotated so it falls into those groves. I just put them in & closed it up & couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work. It was driving me crazy! Even my pool guy couldn't figure it out. Thanks for the assist!

Excellent step by step explanation on both video and audio. I've used my old Hayward Ultra since I put in the pool 15 years ago and just replaced the rockers and pads recently. Your tip on soaking the rubber shoes in water sure helped. Very helpful.

0Thanks loads for this, it was a big money saver and helped me when the Hayward service dept couldn't diagnose the issue. Shame you don't do international delivery ( as would have liked to purchase parts from your company as a thanks) BEWARE to others reading this - I made a big mistake purchasing from Temu initially and the bearings rusted within a week - SOO disappointing (they did a full refund tho). But the genuine Hayward parts have been fine. Cheers.

Works for me. thank you! A couple notes for others... pay attn to how that orange/red disc on top of the gear box is aligned before you piece it all back together. I have NO idea what that is for, and nothing inside moves it.. I dunno. Seems to have no function, but it's there! ALSO.. I wasn't going to replace my turbine because I could easily spin it with my finger and I'm SO glad I decided to do it anyway. One of the bearings literally fell apart in my hand when I opened the case. So, two new bearings, propeller and even replaced the pods and pod feet. One issue I had is it kept getting stuck in the pool and I discovered that the suction was just too much. So like with my old one I just removed the two "wings" and BINGO... It still sucks (well, doesn't suck? ;-) ) , cleans well and is now crawling walls. THANKS FOR THE VIDEO! :-) - Dan B , Carlsbad CA

Really well made video. It is quick and the person narrating it isn't too verbose. My only suggestion would be add information about the gear box. I am looking for information about how easily the gears are supposed to spin.

Thanks for that. should have mentioned that. if you put your mouth up to the small opening you should be able to blow into it like a whistle and gears should spin. 👍

Im so glad I found your video I have the one that has the white wheel. Im glad I didn't get the black wheel one. Thank you I replace the shoe pads but still doesn't move. The one piece that I was trying to change is the wheel thats about 2 to 3 inches wide and in order to change the other wheels you have to go to the last cover which it is hard I remove the tiny screw but it still won't come off is there a replacement for the outer body of pool vac plus this turbine dont know exactly what it is called.

Hi David, I am going to take my old Navigator apart (again) and check that all parts that spin are doing so. It still does not turn away from the corner step in the pool. If you/I hold the navigator by the hose (say it's submerged 2 feet into the pool water) with suction on, should you see it spin/turn or not? Mine does not, when I test it like that. Do you think the great big top most gear is shot? It looked fine but I did not actually measure it. In open water it moves and turns fine. THANKS! Froggy

I have the Hayward Pool Vac XL pool vacuum. It works fine while the pool pump is running but as soon as the pump shuts off the pool vac will float to the surface. I have a dedicated line with three way valve for skimmer, and I do have it adjusted to give the vacuum sufficient suction to do the job. I also use a sand filter and I have backwashed it recently. Do you know why or what would cause it to float to surface? Thanks.

Somehow air is getting in the skimmer line. Check the pump for an air leak

I have the Hayward-Wanda the whale. I purchased in April of last year and had to replace the turbine and the wings. I see the shoes are now becoming worn. Pinch a penny prices are outrageous for the parts! $75 for turbine and $35 for wings. Getting pricy to keep fixing!

Thanks for the video, I have one too, stopped working, opened it up and it's one of the bearings from the A frame wheels. I can see they are cheap in the US, but here in Europe they charge a lot for them, from 75-100 euros for the replacement kit. Nevertheless, I will have to buy one and repair it.

Thanks for the video. Altough I have checked everything I cannot make the turbin spin easily as seen in 11:10. It is too "rigid" to make it move. But the spin moves without any issues if I use my finger in the centre. Any suggestions?

It could be that one of the removable vanes is out of alignment. Try removing 2 of them but not right next to each other and see if it improves.

I run my service vacs a little faster than recommended as they need to clean an entire pool in less than 4 hours, how does the V-flex respond to the extra speed?

It will work fine. You will only notice less climbing ability but greater ability to pick up larger debris.

Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I have been trying to figure out why my cleaner does not move. Is there only 1 upgrade kit, or is it unit specific. My cleaner ALWAYS gets stuck on the steps. Is there something I should look at to fix this? On the pool deck with no water inside, it will spin just fine. In the pool, it does not. Thank you.

Yes one kit for all the models. First thing I would change is the A-Frame and bearings. Get the kit listed in the video description.

I find that my 4 feet wear down and the suction makes it suck down with no movement. Replace the 4 feet and moves around the pool just fine.

Disconnect the cleaner from the lead hose then place the cleaner directly into the trash can, it’s the easiest rebuild I do

the new turbine blade last about a month before breaking...even sooner if there are leaves in the pool.....the turbine spindle gears last about 2 years at best......the orginal design is much more durable

Nothing wrong with the fixed black turbine in my opinion. But I've had pretty good luck 🤞 with the V-Flex turbine.
