Your correct to really get into hot shot and make money six wheel single axle semi with a sleeper headache rack two hundred fifty gallon tanks one on each side saddle with extra tool boxes both sides half bed then fifth wheel with goose neck adapter stability is the key good sleep love that trailer man it’s the bomb your 100% right space is how it’s done and remember make sure that truck can tow the top amount of weight for that trailer and get spare tires not a bad idea for a winch for the bottom bed stationary top maybe get a movable winch for giving you that extra strength remember you got to save your strength to drive tarp and bungee leave the straining for the winches. And if that’s not enough truck get a two axle semi. Big Cummins or a Detroit 12.7 is good 60 series motor. Truck it up man

@@TRTHotshot Yes I have a 2022 RAM 3500 high output with a 40 ft gooseneck trailer plated at 38,000 but I never run that much I try to stay 16 and under on the deck

That will be a nice set up. I’m gonna stick with my ram 3500 flatbed 6.7 HD for now. I just ordered a PJ 40ft deck over fully loaded w air ride suspension 15k axles and front axle lift with added storage will be ready for pickup in July. Have a good one

That’s crazy, this is exactly what I’m looking at for when my CDL is done. A SportChassis or Western Hauler and a 53ft step deck. What I’m noticing is they are very expensive compared to a used Kenworth T680 or something similar that you can grab for $50k and still run a nice low pro step deck. I’m considering all options right now to maximize $$$

I’m not really sure. But I know that extra 10 foot is gonna help you out a lot. We make more money on our deck space than we do weight.

We make money on deck space. Not weight. None of the 3500-5500 can really carry weight. I can scale 18k. We set our filters for 18k and all the loads that weight or less pop up.

Only problem with the 5500 ram is it geared too low or a single axle will have a 13 or 18 speed low RPMs

That’s true. We have one. 2022 model. It spends an extra 500 a week in fuel compared to the other ones.

Buy a semi if you’re gonna pull a 53ft trailer. 3500-5500 trucks 40ft-44ft trailer MAX. What’s that 53ft trailer weigh ? I’m guessing it weighs 15k plus? It’s to heavy of trailer for a 3500,4500,5500 trucks whatever brand truck. That’s my opinion

@davidpolynice3384 I actually found out what that valley is for. On the top deck those ramps pull out and you put them down in the base of that valley so they don’t slide out on you. It’s pretty genius.

If you plan on getting into hotshot a class A CDL will help you out tremendously. No, you do not need a 53 foot trailer especially if you’re going to pull it with a pickup. These guys act like you have plenty of time to just sit around and keep adding stuff to fill up all that deck space and then once it’s full you can leave and start delivering. It would be nice if it worked that way but you’ll be lucky to have enough time to fill up a 40 foot.

Class A is the only way to go. No the legal limit with a truck/ trailer is 65’. Bumper to bumper. Some goose necks have an 8’ neck. Some 9’. So the actual trailer from receiver to end can be 48-49’. If you pull your bed off and run flatbed or cab and chassis then you register as a tractor. Then you can run longer trailers.

There’s no disrespect. When I started I could not get financing for a semi. Credit was there. No trucking experience. So unfortunately I had to make do. There are a lot of people in the same situation as I am with this. So if I come across information that I can share that’s what this is about. Im shooting for a semi now.
