Someone can correct me if I'm mis-remembering, but iirc the purpose of 177 was to satirize Japan's antiquated SA laws at the time. I remember reading somewhere that the "good ending" was meant to be a reductio ad absurdum pointing out how messed up the law was; the law said something like if a woman had "felt pleasure" during an assault, it wasn't SA. So the game points out how ridiculous this law is by saying the woman "felt pleasure" if you catch her, which is why she marries you if you catch her but you go to jail if you don't. So from what I remember, the game isn't really "promoting assault" as much as it is protesting the law that could've allowed a perp to get off by basically arguing the victim wanted it. Now, I think making that point in the form of a game is still in poor taste and can backfire and be harmful way too easily, but it at least helps explain why the game exists. At the same time, Custer's Revenge exists and there was no comprehensible explanation for that one...

idk i think its a tad unfair to put rapeplay with no real people in it- next to something that had real gore-cp, or even the wild racism and school shooter games. that definitely feels like ( the subject matter is simply too uncomfy to tolerate) and less a real outrage. the plot can be crazy as its just some childish porno- you kinda expect nonsense. the others were much less comfy because they have a direct line to something real- simply not being able to exist without some objectively spiteful intentions. a game were your character loses clothes is a cheesy game trope( a childish and not easy to sit through one) but it cant seriously take a spot next to a psychopaths fever dream and hitler audio. its that added meta that truly makes you feel its earned its scorn. illusion simply doesnt fit here theyre a corny porno developer you get some wild plots in hentai and theres a dash of understanding that these are wild for the sake of standing out. .

I actually played JFK reloaded a lot as a teen (I know, I know). One thing you left out, is that for the first month or so of its existence, they had a high-score contest running, where you could win $100,000 (with your score based on how closely you replicated the Warren Comission's findings, where 1000 points meant it was exactly as they said) The winner was a 16 year old french boy, who I believe scored in the high 960s, literally the last day of the competition. Unfortunately for him, the game sold extremely poorly, and they literally did not have $100,000 to give him. In the end, he received $10,000 instead. The company _almost_ went on to create Princess Diana Reloaded, but after the Massachusetts House of Representatives presented them with an official condemnation for JFK Reloaded, they bailed on the idea.

Take this with a grain of salt but iirc, part of the reason the game exists was as an “educational tool” to prove the official claims of JFK’s assassination, only for nobody in the history of the game to be able to get a perfect score, possibly accidentally (or maybe intentionally idk the devs intentions) proving that the FBI’s reports were either inaccurate or purposely hiding information

Euphoria is more than just the torture game rooms, hence why it has the following it did. The torture game rooms is like only one fourth of the whole game. The rest is features post-apocalyptic anarchy, cultists, and some Stanley Parable-like stuff, and some revelations that are probably even more shocking than the first part of the game itself, like your character is r'd as a child, fathered a daughter who was then used for human experiments. I'll just say that "euphoria" doesn't refer to the sadism, but actually a machine that is meant to give people pleasurable dreams. But at the heart/brain of the machine is a girl - an unwilling human computer. The protagonist originally does not have have sadistic tendencies - he's being manipulated/groomed into it for a certain reason. Half of the heroines aren't real. Almost everything is a simulation.

Also, "Deng Xiao Ping" is no misspelling, many chinese words have multiple ocidental spelling variations as they're just phonetic approximations to the real word. So Tong, Dong, Dang, Tang, Deng and many others can be considered correct spellings of the word "鄧"

I think it is. Interact Play VR(It's predecessor) has a similar story structure where the perp gropes, assaults and then blackmails all of the girls but the ending ultimately winds up with him arrested and losing both his hands ironically from a subway train accident, that and the perp also can get arrested violently if they make the wrong choices, but ultimately the perp will always wind up punished. I think Rapelay and Interact Play VR show that ultimately those horrid actions lead to karma on the perp's end, but later games I feel they wanted to have replay value without the worry of being punished for their actions, so they ommited them in later games

It still amazes me how human behavior and our individual experience of life shapes our perception, reality, thought, etc. that leads one to make disturbing and taboo games mentioned above. Earlier I watched a breakdown video on the pilot episode of Breaking Bad which talks about this condition of darkness. Also, right before this video I just watched a user speak on the preservation of video games in general as a future educational tool documented library, physical or digital and how preservation would help study many topics of value, as how the gaming industry is mostly oppose to preserving games do to no benefit of financial gain for them industry libraries that have been lost do to law suits, and other factors. Also games who have lost their entire code and some saved luckily by been backed up by an employee even though it’s not supposed to be replicated outside work.

The dichotomy between Hatred and Left Behind, and how they're right next to each other on the list, is fantastic. As someone who's pursuing a bachelor's degree in computer science, I can tell you that it takes a lot of mental work to make video games to begin with, like doing the coding stuff and all. The fact that some individuals made such disturbing games makes me think what was going on in their minds when they were making these. Edit: Though I'm glad to see many people who agree with the fact that it's messed up, I'm literally baffled by how some people in the replies went to some lengths to actually defend stuff like these. And those who claim making games is "easy", especially for the older titles has clearly never made or worked on making any games themselves. Even if you used some so-called "game making" software for modern titles that doesn't "require any code", you still need to figure things out like the gaming mechanics, levels, plot (if any), etc. and you have to put all those pieces together. I played manhunt and the sequel and I think the only reason it was controversial was because of when it was released otherwise the story is pretty solid by modern sensibilities. Enemies are definitely bad people and the protagonist is exactly the same. Black mirror did episodes called white bear and shut up and dance which had a similar portrayal of the ethics shown in the game and were widely accepted despite their bleak endings.

It isn't comparable with shooter games, most of which are set in some form of war, or with zombie games where they are fictional monsters - both of which will have the enemy fight back, at least adding a gameplay or plot element to the violence. This game, from my thankfully limited knowledge, seems like nothing more than f-tish content of an illegal and traumatising scenario that many helpless women and girls have been subject to. Making a game pandering to an audience of people who enjoy it does nothing but promote s-xual assault and put ideas into a possible perpetrator's mind.

I think that fits Demonophobia well, I personally love the game but it REALLY feels like an over-the-top late 70s to early 80s low-budget horror film, I mainly get a lot of vibes similar to Hellraiser combined with Cube (Cube isn't from the late 70s or early 80s but my point still stands)

Not surprised. I played scmrpg about 15 years ago and it was pretty tongue-in-cheek. I think the south park Satan sprite perfectly frames the satirical/edgy state of mind that came from the 90s/00s. It didn't feel like a school shooter simulator or anything, it was just a bad rpg with a messed up setting

Gore and violence is easier to integrate into a game, unlike sexuality themes.... Just look at many +18 game publishers, they BARELY revolve around the Triple X topic, and the gameplay is more focused around puzzle solving or other gimmicks... ​@@jellifygirlmost of these games involve far worse than just "slightly" deviant aspects, also sex crimes have always been viewed as worse, the reason for that is because humans who arent depraved see sex crimes as far more disturbing and irredeemable than a shooting or stabbing, its for this same reason that in quite a few countries and cultures (most notably the middle east) if a woman is raped or sexually assualted then her father or partner would often kill her, himself and their close relatives to put them all out of their misery, equally victims of such crimes usually end up falling victim to their own mind sooner or later as do their family members (who's mental states are shattered far more from a sex related crime than a non-sex related crime)

For example a game can be banned if the protagonist takes meth to gain a speed and accuracy boost, with little or no debuffs. It's the same archaic nonsense that gets things like Kinder Surprise eggs banned in the US. Except in their case the 100 year old blanket law is a ban on any food items concealing non-edibles inside.

i've been around for a bit and there are a lot of more pixel side scrolling games where the monsters SA you if they catch you or when they defeat you. a lot of them are japanese games, while some english games are in the mix too. it's probably a fetish, and it goes after both male and female protagonists. it's a rabbithole
