On Day 7 in South Korea, my wife and I were in Jeonju, South Korea. For lunch we had the ultimate version of Korean bibimbap, which is rice mixed salad, and a dish Jeonju is very famous for. For the remainder of the day, we visited some of the most famous attractions in Jeonju.
00:41 300Zip (삼백집) for breakfast - We woke up in the morning and started off the day with a trip to a famous restaurant called 300Zip (삼백집) to eat a Korean Jeonju dish called gukbap, which is a bean sprout and rice soup. The soup included rice, bean sprouts, eggs, sesame seeds, and some other small vegetables. Additionally it was served with another fried egg on the side. It was a soothing way to start the morning in Jeonju.
3:57 Lunch at Gajok Hoegwan (가족회관) - For lunch we went to this restaurant which is legendary in Jeonju for serving an original version of bibimbap, Korean mixed rice salad. The bibimbap cost 12,000 Won ($10.05) per person, and it included an unbelievable mixture of colorful toppings. I thought it was amazing to watch them making the bibimbap, all within brass personal pans, heated on the stove at just the right temperature, and all the ingredients delicately added to the bibimbap. It was one of the best versions of bibimbap I’ve ever had. It was so simple, yet because of the variety of ingredients and the combination, that’s what made it complex.
10:51 Jeonju Hanok Village - One of the most famous things to do in Jeonju is to walk around the Jeonju Hanok Village, the old village of the city. It’s one of the main attractions that people from all over Korea come to see and experience. There are many things to do within the Jeonju Hanok Village including lots of snacks and restaurants, a hand made paper factory, all sorts of museums, and a number of shrines. Another one of the highlights of visiting the hanok village is to get dressed up in traditional Korean hanbok clothing, and walk around and take photos. So Ying and I rented costumes and walked around. The best Korean snack I had while walking around the village was an skewer of grilled octopus covered in cheese. I never thought the combination would go together so well, but somehow it worked really well.
23:18 Gyodong Tteokgalbi (교동 떡갈비) Restaurant - For dinner we ate at a restaurant within the Jeonju Hanok Village known for serving tteokgalbi, which is a Korean dish of minced short ribs, marinated and grilled on your tabletop. It was my first time to have this Korean dish, and along with all the different side dishes and vegetables, it was delicious.
Day 7 in Korea was an amazing day of visiting attractions in Jeonju and eating one of the most complex and delicious bowls of Korean bibimbap that I’ve ever tried.

I had the pleasure of living in Korea for two years. I was in a city called Daejeon about an hour by bullet train south of Seoul. Daejeon''s population is 1.5 million (Wikipedia), and pollution was never an issue for me. I traveled and saw many wonderful places in ROK. I ate a lot of wonderful food, too, but after watching Mark Wiens's videos I regret that I did not get even deeper into it than I did.

We just returned from a visit to Jeonju based on this video! We ate the Bibimbap at Gajok Hoegwan and loved it, especially all the Banchan and the Egg Souffle. We made a mistake at Grandma's and accidentally ordered the hot sweet bean soup instead of the shaved ice version. The clerk didn't speak English and she thought I was pointing to the hot version. Oh well, it was still good. And you are correct. All the tourists were carrying boxed of PNB boxes with Chcopie. I didn't realize there were a variety of flavors. Thanks for all the tips!

I lived there for eight years and I love to see people experience the culture first hand. I love how respectful you are and how eager you are to try all the different food and cultural experiences! I wish more people were as open minded as you are when you travel. I love to travel and have been to several countries and have also had countless beautiful cultural exchanges with the locals because I’ve been open to experience what they have to offer. I wish you nothing less than continued blessings as you bring the world to our screens and I hope to cross paths with you one day and share a meal. Thank you for sharing your open mind, beautiful soul and heart with us all.

Amazing videos, man! I really like to see the surroundings, weather, people, buildings, moods and sights in the cities you visit. The food you try looks absolutely delicious and exciting, I also like that you show us how the food is made or cooked or composed in the resturants you visit. South Korea is high on my "countries to visit-list", thanks to you. Keep up the good work and your high positive spirits! I wish good health and a excellent summer for you! Greetings from Norway. :-)

Korean food is delicious! It was a nice touch to be able to dress up in the traditional clothing as well. It allows any visitor such a unique experience to further immerse yourself into the culture ☺️ lovely video, as usual! The bloopers at the end were enjoyable, too. I wish you’d include them on each blog lol

I think this is my favorite video so far. Never heard of bibimbap, but it sure looks delicious. If I weren't suffering from anthropophobia (people phobia...) I'd totally want your lifestyle. :( Ah well, I can live vicariously anyway. ^_^ Thanks to you and your wife for giving me the chance to somewhat experience good food and beautiful locations via your videos. :)

question about anthropophobia...and i dont mean to offend but i am curious as to why you post anything on social media for people to see if you have a people phobia? or does it not work that way sorry

Here, it's anonymous. No one will see my face and know who I am. And I don't see people in person, in front of me, so I don't feel threatened or afraid. It's different here; I can talk to others fine, but when faced with them out in the real world, I go into full-blown panic mode, and 9 times out of 10 I'm utterly inconsolable.
