Would really love an in depth look into the live show "how to" get good tone and punch in a metal band. Plug-ins are the way to go when recording, that much seems clear these days. Playing live gets more tricky. Especially if there's little to no house sound. Straddling the line of enough low end, with decent clarity is the key. Would be nice to hear from some experienced professionals on how to setup a rig and achieve this. I'm running an NG-3 through a Darkglass Alpha - Omega 900 into an Ampeg 8x10. Thing sounds massive in practice, just wanting some outside input on live setup. Thanks for the great videos!

After playing E0 and F#0 for a while now and growing accustomed to it, I find that standard E1 or B0 tuned basses no longer satisfy my craving for “bass”. C#0 is next on my list.

what is bill playing his bass through though? What speaker has the range to properly output F#0?

While a low F# is around 23 Hz, you don't need that frequency as it's not even really produced by the string (and it would just sound muddy, also no PA would be able to produce that note). You need the first harmonic at 46 Hz. Plenty of Speakers go down to 45 Hz. The bigger problem is cab tuning. If you got an 8x10 cab with speakers capable of 40 Hz but it's tuned to 58 Hz, your're not gonna play anything lower than a B0 or maybe a Bb0 through it. I know that when Nolly played with Periphery, he used two 610 Zilla Cabs with, i think, Eminence speaker that are rated at 45 Hz.

No one ever talks about cabinets for these low tunings because most cabinets can't handle anything below 35hz

incorrect. Bass guitar is full of harmonics, and that is what makes us hear or feel certain notes. Low F#0 has its *fundamental* at 23Hz, but it could be easily heard with a cab or a speaker that can reach the harmonic at 45Hz
