Excellent tutorial. Is it just me or Cubase is a cluttered mess? Its UI is super hard to look at.

yeah, I'm used to looking at tutorials where the guy runs Reaper, Mixbus, Studio One, or even programs like Tracktion Waveform Free or Cakewalk. A lot of the tutorials I watch use those or Apple Logic Pro X. It doesn't matter whether you use Mac, Windows, or Linux, just use whatever operating system and DAW you're used to. That said... The more I objectively analyze the UI of Pro Tools and Cubase, the more I realize they're objectively terrible. People only use them because they're used to them, I feel like, and it would take more time to get used to new software than would be reasonable and realistic for a working professional.

The HM-2 for bass tone JAWSH had been using with Cephalic since he joined the band in ‘98-99. It was intentional to grab that tone and frequency that the guitars didn’t have for those moments. Trying to have a hybrid American Death Metal and Swedish Death Metal tone. It was gnarly live too. This was cool to watch Dave walk back through it and how it would have been achieved today.

HM2 is a bit too much for me but I love to use the RAT style distortion like the Nembrini Audio black. The filter function is perfect for bass.

a rat pedal is absolutely amazing at everything except making a guitar sound good. drums, bass, vocals, all great

What settings do you use generally

@@MetalZoned depending on where you put in the chain and how much of the low end you want to distort play with the filter and have gain at around 9 o clock
