Another thing have you thought about moving your closet bench in your garage? All the way down to the corner. Next to the wall, it will give you more usable space in your garage on the Right side

I'm 73. I get rid of at least 20 items each day. Some are give aways, some are throw aways, some are trash. My mom hoarded papers and trash. Yesterday, it was craft items I wasn't using. Two days ago, I took a bag of clothes to Salvation Army. I own 8 shirts and 4 pairs of slacks. Tina, Al's wife

Hello! I saw a hoarder clean video and that led to a cleaning motivation video and then yt played this one. I don't have kids but I rarely used cleaning chemicals. I actually use a vinegar soap water mix in a spray bottle. Cleaning or bugs, they both get the same spray mix at them. I have 3 years of decluttering so I look forward to take baby steps to really have a home that pleased our Lord Jesus. Thanks for this video collection, looking forward to more. God bless you all!

Omg. This is me. I love watching these videos and get motivated UNTIL I look around my bedroom and literally see piles turned into a wall almost as tall as me. Then I literally look and try but last like 15 min. I’m at the point of not even looking in boxes of clothes and just throwing them in a bag to donate. I’m at that that point. Plus I have sciatica so my back kills me. I work overnight shifts and exhausted during the day. The Kamari method I don’t even have to do because it’s all literally piled in front of me 😞

Hi! I’ve been watching your videos and I absolutely love them! I’m actually listen to one right now while I’m cleaning! I have pretty moderate ADHD, OCD and anxiety so I struggle a lot with maintaining and organizing my home, but I have found having someone with me as an “anchor” really helps me stay on task, and playing your videos has helped me transform my entire home in my weekend! I have seen a noticeable difference! You spoke about “the dark side of minimalism” and how people will declutter too quickly. I wanted to share my own personal story. Back around 2010 I had been with a guy I had been dating for a few years, by that time it was about 3ish years. My mom had passed away rather suddenly from cancer and I was undiagnosed ADHD, OCD and anxiety at that time, so he would always get frustrated that I was disorganized and that I still had a lot of my mom’s stuff. That by the 1-2 year after her passing mark I hadn’t gone through everything and gotten rid of it all. So, in panic of not wanting to lose him too I did a massive purge and I absolutely regret it to this day. I got rid of many many things that I can never get back and part of me is extremely heartbroken, part of me is relieved I don’t have that massive amount of stuff in addition to my own, another part feels guilty for feeling relieved, another mourns the loss of my mother over and over again when I think about the items I got rid of for a man that I ended up splitting up with 2 years after that, but I try to focus on that rational thought that creeps in and reminds me that I cannot change the past and rather than focus on the material items I lost (and can’t get back) focus on the memories I’ll have for forever. Thank you to you and your family for your videos! They are so inspiring!! ❤️❤️❤️
@whitneypea
@whitneypea 2 ай бұрын
I am so sorry; as someone who is sentimental, I totally understand how heartbreaking that can be! Just know your mom isn’t in those things, and she is always with you. I hope you can find comfort in maybe someone else enjoying the things that once belonged to your mama. Thank you so much for sharing your story & for being here! I’m glad I can be someone who can help you, I understand how being disorganized makes for a cluttered home, because I’m the same way! Also have undiagnosed ADHD. Hugs ❤️❤️❤️

Really awesome vid! :D. One thing I would mention is I don't understand how or why people have an attachment to stuff. Stuff is made and then they break down and can be destructible. People can gain stuff, and then they lose stuff. So in the end stuff is not permanent. People cannot take money or stuff with them when they die. All of that stuff is temporary. You win some, you lose some. You gain stuff, you lose stuff. Stuff is not important. What's important is yourself and your friends and family. Having fun and happy moments with your friends family and loved ones. People are far more important than stuff. Heh. If you need to, you can take pictures of the items and keep them on your phone or something. And remember the good memories. But in the end all of those clothes and stuff is going to end up either donated or thrown out. Anything thrown out is usually typically simply dumped in landfills and they stay that way for years upon years upon decades upon decades, until the government finally gets off their ass and does something about them. Lol. Stuff comes and goes. If you need to, you can remember the good and happy moments by seeing your kids every day. But eventually you will need to let them learn and grow up and become capable and able to live and enjoy their own life and make their own path and learn from their mistakes and become a capable independent adult. The other thing. Remember children takes a lot of your time, work, effort, and energy. From feeding and raising to teaching and playing, which is actually a ton of work and takes up a lot of parents' time. When you and your husband could spend quality time together and stuff, lol. And have personal time for yourself. Heh. Remember as the kids learn to grow up and become independent, you as parents end up having more free time for yourselves. Lmao. And yes I understand because I have a kid of my own. LOL. To me part of being a good parent is protecting teaching raising them to learn how to protect and take care of themselves.

For decluttering sentiment items, that I didn’t need and were just keeping because it sparked memories, was to take photos of them and print them, then I made a memory photo book. That way I could see it, have that memory it sparked but not have the physical object taking up space.

Re: vinegar It's not technically a disinfectant but it's highly acidic which can kill certain microbes & break down other particles like dirt & grease. Per healthline, vinegar kills roughly 80% of illness-causing germs, inclusing e.coli and salmonella. That isn't up to EPA specs but is still pretty good!

You realise that you don't actually use most of the cleaning tools only after a while. Inspite of having a vacuum, it's usually hand cleaning with a wet mop that I reach out to. Minimal tools is a lesson i learnt.

Sweet, wonderful YOU! You are enough, your home is lovely, and your family is lucky to have you working so hard for the space you share. Please make time to love yourself. I love the title “Messy to Minimal”….though I wonder if it has left you feeling pressure to reach an imaginary and impossible standard. I hope not. How about a reboot…”Messy to Lessy” 😊. At 50yrs old, I have had long held the philosophy “the more you have, the more you have to clean”. My heart breaks every time I see you work so hard, accomplish so much, and finish with a sigh, saying “it’s far from perfect”. I don’t know what perfect is to you, though I have an idea, and I promise, if it were ‘perfect’ it would be no better than it is right now. Uncluttered, accessible, and clean. Many are struggling to get to where you are, so let’s be okay with that being great…even if everything isn’t color coded, acrylic crated, Cricut crafted, mod-podged and milk painted. Uncluttered, accessible, clean. Perfect. ❤

what cleaner do you use on your stainless appliances?

A bit late here, but a channel called field of focus tests the bacterial load on different surfaces before and after using different cleaners, including some natural ones. I won't spoil the results for you, but she has some vinegar and dawn dish soap videos. In my opinion, the best non toxic sanitiser (not necessarily cleaner) is hypochlorous acid. It's what our immune systems produce, its safe around kids, pets, on your skin etc. It doesn't cause breathing issues and is very gentle on skin, whilst being insanely effective (many times more effective than bleach). It does all this whilst not promoting bacterial resistance, which is a problem with sanitisers. You can make it at home with a generator, buy it already made or use nadcc tablets dissolved in water. NEVER MIX WITH VINEGAR THOUGH. HOCL should be treated like bleach as far as chemical interactions go. Personally, because I am on my own and my home doesn't get a huge build up of dirt, I clean with a some kind of dish soap, or even a squirt of hand soap if its closer. I then spray it down with hocl. I have quite an interest in probiotic cleaners too. I'd love to see some independent testing of them, so if anyone knows of any, please let me know! If we could just mainstream some effective, more natural cleaners, and make them affordable, then the world would be much better off!

It blows my mind that we as Americans need homes with multiple bathrooms and dozens of closets, then we build an actual business out of teaching people to declutter all of those rooms in their homes. Let's face it. We monetize chaos and anxiety. We buy more containers to store items that already have containers. Then complain there's too many. It's sickening. I plan to move into a one bed trailer and throw out everything I own to live on land. The extra space and items just isn't conducive to our mental health.

Good for you! I have 3 kids so having one bathroom and living in a one bedroom trailer is not feasible. Just because your experience is different doesn’t mean you need to invalidate others!

Don’t be jealous because we live in America and we can afford clean water and nice houses and get paid really good incomes in our kids can be raised and have their own bedrooms. Stop hating and get your money up.
