For the unused space: Set up a "confessional" area so you can do, well, confessional shots like they did in "The Office" which can be really funny for RPGs. "It's going to go great!" (cut) "that did not go great" For display cases, I used Billy cases with glass doors from Ikea. They look really classy and are pretty low profile, just 11" from the wall to the front which is surprisingly important. Lastly, it's been a pleasure to watch your channel grow, SDub. From your original posts on reddit to a full fledged bidness this is pretty great.
@tinaprice49482 жыл бұрын
I also use Billy. I use white cases and put in the glass shelves, which really make your minis stand out, and its nice that the shelves are adjustable, I use more shelves in glass than what it came with in the white wood shelves , so more bang for the buck per bookcase :D

For glass cabinets - you should see if you have anyone who makes glass/acrylic fish tanks in your area. They use thick and heavy enough materials, and are used to accounting for large weight loads (water is heavy... and also wet...). They should be able to source and make you the sort of thing you're looking for! Lovely space mate - look forward to consuming all the content you keep making!

For the display cabinets use Ikea Billy Oxburg bookcases. Glass doors that are full length and you can do like Adam Savage did and paint the doors black and then put LED strip lights inside to light the contents. Don't know what colors you can get them in offhand, but I'm sure if you wanted something a bit more "METAL!" you could paint them whatever color you want.
@Daniel-mz5ek2 жыл бұрын
Couple of people have said this already but the ikea detolf are the cheapest around, I have one. Good things are that they are glass all the way round, being ikea you can puts lights and stuff in them cheaply. They also have a footprint of a single kallax unit which allows you to elevate them and have storage beneath them (okay I lie a little, just looked at mine, the base overhangs by a fraction of an inch but the feet sit well on the top of the unit). You absolutely must screw them both to a wall though as balancing one on the other does wobble if not secured. Just looking at mine, I'm not certain that 2 detolf units would sit on a double kallax you'd have to measure - but given what I said about the overhanging base I suspect multiple singles would be better. Also those kallax units take 4 of the A4 sized 'really useful' boxes which if you stick a magnetic base to them, and magnetise the minis could store LOADS of less-display worthy minis very cheaply. Magnetising the bases is a pain but hey... you have employees! ;) Downsides: are the biggest issue I have found is that the shelves are rather too spaced apart for miniatures (unless you put in big stuff like ork stompas or large scenery), could do with double the number of shelves but unlike most Ikea stuff its not easy to achieve that. This said, its probably not impossible but you'd need to look at one close up. Also they are not super super sturdy but certainly don't feel fragile, if multiple ones were braced together along the top it would def improve rigidity. All the glass does add to the weight so keep that in mind. Finally, they keep the dust out for a while but not forever. Dusting will occasionally still be necessary!
@The1Goby2 жыл бұрын
I think a fun idea for display cabinets would be to use the tools you have at your disposal and make them yourself! You and your crew have a good DIY mindset and it would give you a lot more control over the dimentions and where they would fit. Plus it would make a good video!
