Hi Sheldon, i think the open airy feel you have now is awesome but i can see the need for more seating. How about two beautiful hall chairs for nooks left and right of the TV? When you have friends over you pull them out and whet they leave the go back to being beautiful decorative chairs. Try to picture two Victorian or neoclassical chairs in those two areas. This will add lots of character to the room without you compromising space and beauty and flow. They would also add a pop or color if you are thinking color as well. That bay window is so gorgeous with all that light coming through. I know whatever you decide will look fabulous!

Hi Sheldon!! Keep it the way it is and maybe add a couple of chairs to make it more conversational. Your guest will be there periodically and your space is yours. I love you are considering the comfort of your guest 😁🙌🏾

So I watched your videos out of order! And I LOVE what you’ve done with the console table made into a window table with the footstools under. I love how it doesn’t block the light, it’s functional and is quite a focal point. Love it. X

I would get two accent chairs (one on each side of the fireplace) and two small ottomans tucked in front of the window. That will allow for more seating options. If you’re gathered around the dining table you can bring over the accent chairs for more seating there. If you’re gathered in the living room you can pull out the ottomans to the ends of the coffee table for more seating there. Then at Christmas you can move it all out of the room if you need more space. I have a large sectional sofa and it can be annoying when my guests need to use the restroom or want another drink and they have to climb over someone to get up and out of where they’re sitting. Hope this helps! 💕

I think a sectional would block the bay window which is a key feature of your living room. It will also draw in your room making it feel smaller. You could add a chair in the corner and have two ottomans or pouffes which would also make a nice conversational area without changing the beautiful aesthetic of your room. Can’t wait to see what u decide to do!!
@emma410932 күн бұрын
Given the shape of the room and the beautiful feature you have in the bay window, I think it could be very easy to unintentionally close off the space and make it feel cluttered. An l-shaped sofa would close off the bay (and impact on Christmas tree placement). You seem to have a lot of space on either side of the fireplace. Could you put comfy armchairs on either side of it and pull these out / move them around as you need for socialising? That would keep the symmetry in the room too. Loving everything you’ve done! You must be feeling so accomplished now that the spare room is basically done.

My house is open plan too so I feel your pain in terms of making a room more sociable.The L shape will block the beauty of the window.i had an L shape and it almost made the room look heavy and smaller. I think a really beautiful chair in the alcove and a small chest lower than the window ledge in the bay that could be used as a bench too ❤

I LOVE your channel! Regarding making your living room more social, I suggest placing 2 matching chairs on either side of the fireplace, bringing in a round coffee table and one more chair in the bay window. Thus would provide seating for many guests and still make it comfortable for your TV watching. It would also keep the dining and living spaces open for easy movement. I love your idea of placing 2 additional chairs in the dining room.

Sheldon....I think a sectional will over power the space. Add one chair, and a ottoman. Happy NewYears to you from New Jersey 🎉🎉
@pami44822 күн бұрын
Rather than blocking the bay window, I would put a smaller chair on either side of fireplace. You can then use your original chair back in front of the window. That would give you seating for up to 6 people. Then, if needed, you could drag 1 or 2 of the dining chairs, facing bay window on the other end of coffee table, so you could have seating for 8. Also, depending on the size of the smaller chairs flanking fireplace, they could be relocated on each end of dining table so it seats 8.

Hi Sheldon, The current floor plan is stunning, and you should put the chair back in the bay window. Buying an "L" shaped sofa will cut off the room and the beautiful bay window. Also, the gorgeous lamps won't be symmetrical, and it will take away from the beauty of the lamps. Finally, where will you put the tree next Christmas? I know you plan to put a tree in the dining room, but the bay window is made for the main Christmas tree. Moving half a sofa to put the main tree in the bay window would be a pain. I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!!!! 😀😄🥰😍

Hi Sheldon- I agree with others about finding two chairs that can go on either side of the fireplace. That will give you seating for 4 people and you can then pull up to smaller dining chair size for when you have six people. These two chairs opposite the sofa will give you the balance symmetry and keep it cozy - plus a spot for your tree next year too! Thanks for sharing!

Hi Sheldon terrible idea with the L shape sofa, I’ll say put two upholstered bench like your dining chairs and put them in the nook of the fireplace and you can add two wooden chairs next to your couch open in the bottom so light can pass through and will not overpower the living room with heavy furniture. Now you have seating for 4 more people and the best thing is you can move them around when Christmas comes, don’t block that beautiful bay window of yours. 😊

Hi Sheldon, I know in a few videos ago you mentioned having basement. Not sure what your plan is to work on finishing that or what state that is in. But you could store the big stuff like the trees down there. I know you are set on your closet office but it would be good to store the big stuff in the basement. Also a smaller chair or ottomans in the bay will be ideal.

Happy holidays! My suggestion is either getting two arm chairs for the ends of your dining table that could be pulled into your living room for company that are more comfortable than your existing dining chairs or get two arm chairs that live on either side of your fireplace. I know whatever you do will be beautiful but I would be hesitant to cut off your bay window with a sectional when comfortable chairs could be slotted into the room so easily.

I think you should put 2 chairs in your room, one on either side of the coffee table. I think you would regret blocking off access to the window and if you get a sectional, where will you put your Christmas tree next year. I also think an L shaped sectional will be too heavy in that area.

Hi Sheldon, not a fan of the Lshape for the living room. I love it how it is. I think two small chairs/sofa would suit more. You can move them on each side of the fireplace when not in use. Plus when it comes to xmas nxt yr, where would you put your tree? Keep your sofa, it looks so comfy.

The L shaped sofa would limit your Christmas tree location and would mean the tree goes next to the fire. I would get a cuddle seat or 2 Seater sofa or two chairs. Not pretty BUT you could also have some bean bags stored away or even some small stools which you can use if you have more guests coming xx
@hamptons12 күн бұрын
I would opt for a smaller chair option by bay and two small pouffe seats at end of coffee table by dining room maybe? The L shaped would maybe close in the lovely bay which is a beautiful feature on that side of the room. You have impeccable taste so I’m sure whatever you choose will be gorgeous.

Hi Sheldon first let me say Happy New year hope you have a wonderful time and all your dreams come true!……..your lounge is stunning with your traditional panelling I wouldn’t do a L shape sofa it will in my opinion wreck your lounge/bay window I would leave it as it is because for the most of the time your on your own! People seem to find places to sit with what you have! For me I would buy a live chair low in the back traditional if your eye can see over the back of your chair to the window frame it gives the illusion of space! Your style is spot on for the house you have I think you may regret a big change as your home is at your heart ♥️

I have a 82 inch sofa in white with two accent swivel chairs in my living room. It seems to work well . I started to purchase a sectional. However, it’s just to heavy for the space. I don’t have a lot of company. In your case ; try using painters tape on the floor . You will get an idea of how much space your sectional / chairs will take up. I hope that makes sense. Regardless of your decision. I know it will look Gorgeous ! ❤️🥰

Hi Sheldon, thank you for sharing your beautiful home for the holidays. It was stunning and you inspired me. That said, I love all of the architectural details of your front room. I think if you added an L shaped sofa, you would miss those details and symmetry. I would add a classic chair to each side of your fireplace. And for additional seating, I would get low benches or ottomans that you can simply add to the window area and the opposite side of the room for additional seating. You could store it on the ends of your table and pull it out when you have company for extra seating. I’m sure whatever you decide, it will be done to perfection. Blessing to you in the New Year!

I will miss the beautiful backdrop of your Christmas but look forward to the new additions in 2025. I agree with majority of comments, your home is an elegant Victorian show stopper with so many wonderful features. An L shape sofa would diminish that in an instant. Maybe a couple of nice leather armchairs either side of the fire that you can move around the home so they are not a permanent fixture. I have an armchair that moves from room to room depending on the occasion. Thank you for sharing and I just say I was eager to watch this and look forward to your content every week 😊

I agree with a lot of the comments, I would not put a sectional in front of that gorgeous bay window. Since you are so skilled at DIY, maybe build a window seat that even highlights that gorgeous window - it might even become a cozy spot for reading with a cuppa! You can put a couple of chairs on either side of the fireplace, but careful about the scale, you wouldn't want the airiness of the room to suddenly seem crowded. I am sure whatever you decide will be fab!

The window is too beautiful to block off, but that’s just my opinion. I think two classic swivel chairs on either side of the fireplace would be beautiful and create a nice conversation space. If they were small enough they could be pulled over to the coffee table for games too or to swivel to watch the tv. You have an amazing home and in the end your taste is impeccable so whatever you do will be beautiful. Thanks for all the work you put into your videos for us! I’m watching from Saskatchewan, Canada.

Personally I wouldn't put a L-Shaped sofa in that space blocking the bay (personally I think it would 'jar' the whole look of the room). I would do a seating arrangement of - A 3/4 seater low profile sofa . Sitting opposite 2 chairs place either side of the fireplace, slightly angled in towards each other (but only slightly). Behind them in each alcove of the fireplace, put consoles /tables dressed with lamps etc. Adding a couple of pouffes around the outside space (or good in the bay window) would also add more seating And maybe swap-out the existing centre table for a large round one with a smaller one half tucked beneath it. That would give a more open sociable (walk around) space, and also giving it a more centered symmetry and flow. Never be afraid to leave some empty spaces, I think it gives off a better sophisticated deliberate choice of the homeowner. Good luck on your final choice
