always love to see crt comparison video coming from crt enthusiast! its cool that size, tvl, tint, tube health, tube type, mask type, inputs etc all contribute to how the picture looks on a crt. and videos like this helps us who like a certain looks to get an idea on what type of crt we should be looking for without actually buying and trying all of them. thank you and please do more of this!

I have a sony fv310 that has bigger scanlines, great for 240p but I did notice the lines while playing 480i and it doesn't look good (my older crt looked better imo). Now I have the RT4k and that's almosot like having every type of crt (slot mask ended up being my favorite).

@P-0-Seventeen, what in your opinion is the best 13" - 14" CRT TV for retro gaming?

Hey have you ever used a degaussing coil? I have some blotchy red on my small PVM. I don't think I've seen a video on your channel using one.

I have a NEC monitor that I swear has one of the best composite video of any monitor I have, but I wonder if it’s more so because it’s a Shadow Mask, or that I love the look of it the most. It’s the only Shadow Mask crt I have unfortunately, however I would love to find another. I’m generally someone that prefers a softer look than a pure sharp look(Though I still love testing things out with S-Video or component.)

Omg thank you very useful, in your opinion can a aperture grill iiyama vga crt monitor with a gbs control come close to a pvm (as the prices are astronomical)?
@P-0-Seventeen3 ай бұрын
@user-wd7zu3vh9f yes, in fact most all crt pc monitors will look sharper if not far sharper then video monitors will. But of course most all of them won't natively do 240p/480i

@@P-0-Seventeen i have been so torn between the two choices, on one hand the vga crt with an upscaler can look very close to a pvm/bvm but on the other for some reason it doesn't feel authentic for me (i know it is a nieche thing) but at this point for me might as well connect to an oled as we are already using upscaling and fake scanlines you know? Plus nothing quite looks like a big professional video monitor connected to some consoles. But damn the prices are too damn high! Found a 14L1 like the one in your video but it is incredibly far away (15 hours!) and the seller only does pickup. I have a 9 inch pvm but it is not practical for long play sessions as i get eye fatigue). Sold my consumer set trinitron as it was no where near as sharp as pvms. And now waiting on a deal on a pvm or bvm.

This videos are rare, most people don't even know there were different types of CRT. Having a video comparing masks and also comments by someone who knows the terms and their meaning is a precious thing. I enjoy this much more than a similar video from a big channel like Linus Tech.
