Regarding why Moses was punished for striking the rock, I believe it is because the rock that flowed with life giving water was a type of Christ. The first time Moses was told to get water from a rock, God told him to strick it, the second time he was supposed to speak to it. This symbolized the fact that Christ would be struck once but not twice for sins. The second coming, he will reign and not die.

I agree 100 percent. That rock was Jesus, and he will never be smitten again.

Check again beloveds. It was him taking credit from the Most High. Disobedience is not funny. God will not have it, no matter who we think we are! He is God by Himself.
@Samwiser71 Жыл бұрын
@@kingdomambassador1904 If I perceive your answer correctly, We are all in agreement that his disobedience to God caused him to only be able to look into the promised land and not enter. But we are saying the reason for God's will for him to speak to the rock rather than strike it is because Jesus was that rock and he was to only be smitten once. He testified to the fact that he would only be smitten once when he said, I am he that liveth, and was dead, and behold I am alive forever more. Hope this clarifies it a bit.
@conley6611 Жыл бұрын
@kingdomambassador1904 perhaps you're right, and perhaps the rock that gives water is a reference to Christ. It's not far-fetched. There are many pictures of Jesus scattered throughout the Old Testament.

maybe Moses suffered God's judgement and was not permitted to enter into the promise land because Moses didn't speak unto the rock. Instead Moses smote the rock twice. Complaining just like the ppl were doing all the time. and for that God judged Moses. Jesus came and died once. If we do not accept that as the price for us, then why do ppl still complain about this life and all the oppression and affliction? Matthew 7:13-14 many are called but few are chosen...........

If you have never studied in a Hebraic fashion, let me encourage you to do so. This "pointer" is one aspect of a type of study called Remez that is a single element of PaRDeS. Together this word means "orchard" in Hebrew, but as an acronym, it speaks of four depths or types of study that enhance a believer's understanding and comprehension of the whole Bible. Of course, one can not contradict the previous one. They all work together in unison. And before I forget, imagine how eating from an orchard is like reading the Bible. It is full of luscious fruit to delight our souls. Even admonishments are for our good. A list of things that point to Yeshua from the Old Testament (Tanakh). First, John 1:1 states Yeshua is the **Word Made Flesh. Considering that Hebrews 10:7 tells us that the **volume of the Book is written of me (Yeshua), you realize that everything written is prophetic. Some simple pointers are **Adam (the last Adam); **Noah- regardless to the reference "in the days of Noah" in the NT, there are clear pointers to the end times. Look at Noah as a messianic figure who saves mankind. Look at him as a supreme being in relation to all the animals. Notice there were 2 pair of each of the unclean but 7 pair of the clean. Notice the numbers having 7 days notice of the rain which had never happened on the earth before. This points to the fullness of the 7,000-year plan of God for mankind. Notice Noah was 600 years old when the floodwaters covered the earth. This is supremely pointing to two things. With seas symbolic of the nations, it points to corruption covering this earth in the 6,000th year. It also points to God's judgment on corrupt mankind at the end of the age; **Avraham frequently typifies the Father; **Isaac- the Akeida - one of the most obvious archetypes of Yeshua. God tells Avraham to sacrifice his son, his only son. (Yet, remember Avraham already had Ishmael by Hagar too.) And God provided a ram. Hebrew actually uses a word for ram that shares the root for the word Elohiym. Thus, God provided Himself as a sacrifice in Isaac's place. (There is SO MUCH more here!) {!!!EDIT!!! How could I forget these!!} **Jacob usually typifies the people of Israel except in a few places as far as I can see. I'm sure there are more. *****Joseph is THE MOST OUTSTANDING picture of Messiah Yeshua, IMO. The list of comparisons is astounding! **Moshe (a prophet like Moses Duet 18 & Acts 3), Yehoshua (Joshua) whose name means Yah Saves, (btw Yeshua means salvation now.) and who delivered the Israelites into the promised Land. (Moses, who usually typifies the Law, could never save us as it, the Law, was not designed to save.) Actually, if you rearrange the Hebrew letters of the first line in Scripture you have the entire message of the New Testament or rather Brit Chadasha - REnewed Covenant (foretold in Jer 31:31). Additionally, the Aleph and Tav together are symbolic of Yeshua. He said this in Rev 1:11. (Yeshua, a Hebrew speaking to another Hebrew, was most definitely NOT speaking Greek.) But look at the placement in Gen 1:1. The Aleph & Tav are not translated, but highly significant. It is in the 4th position. Yeshua came at the end of the 4,000th year. And it is again in the 6th position showing His return will come at the end of 6,000 years. SECOND question. The only way to summarize the Tenakh (OT) is to say it is the Brit Chadashah (NT) concealed. While the NT is the OT revealed. It is the WORD (singular) of God for a reason. Baruch ata Adonai! Blessings and shalom.

Blah Blah Blah. Im sure your impressed by yourself.
@YeshuaThyKingdomCome Жыл бұрын
@@au7-721 , On the contrary. The more I learn the more I realize that I DON'T know. The knowledge and understanding held within the chapters of the written Word are too great for (the collective) man to understand, and the joy I get from studying who my God is far surpasses earthy pastimes. If you will reread the first line of my comment again, you will see the reason I posted. It was not to brag but to encourage. I suppose some people hear something new and are drawn to want to know more, and others become full of pride and want to put someone in their place. Well, I'm already there. There is no way you can be full of pride and become boastful and be a true student of the Word. If you do, you are not applying what you learn to your own life. Now that would be a waste. Blessings and shalom.
@2topaz Жыл бұрын
I haven't understood a thing. What's Hebraic studying? Let's start there
@YeshuaThyKingdomCome Жыл бұрын
@@2topaz , to study Hebraically is to first understand we are reading a translation. It is appreciated by thinking men and women, not necessarily all theologians, that both the Tenakh / Old Testament and the Brit Chadashah / New Testament originated in Hebrew. (A Jew speaking to other Jews would certainly not be speaking Greek.) Frequently a word in Hebrew has different meanings or connotations. Thus, the context of the passage largely determines which meaning applies. However, it goes further as language evolves, or devolves, depending on how you look at it. Foremost Hebraic studies rely on Hermeneutical practices in which context is king. If we do not understand the nuances of the language in which it was given, then we might misunderstand even the basic message. Additionally, we often consider exegesis of the text, but we fail to recognize eisegesis plays a tremendous role as well. I will give you one example. The word translated "good" is clearly a subjective word. You might call chicken soup good while another might not. However, the use of the word "tov" in Gen 1:4 ("And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness") that was translated "good" means so much more than what we presume. God was not saying so much that He was pleased with His creation as much as He was saying "it fulfills its purpose." Think about that for a bit; It is a huge difference. You can clearly see I am not a teacher. Again, I will state my goal is to encourage Christians to look deeper. The treasures held within the Hebrew language and writings of Scripture are mind-blowing, and only the Most High God could have possibly created such a masterpiece. Even the construction of the Hebrew letters speaks of our Messiah Yeshua. Heb 10:4 "The volume of the scroll is written of me..." I have a feeling only those who desire to know their future Bridegroom (John 1 - the Word Made Flesh) will take hold of this and dig deeper not for knowledge's sake but for love's sake (John 14:15). Does that begin to answer your question? I'm sure I'll think of a dozen other things I could have listed.

Bible Quiz: Q - Do the Old Testament Bible endorses slavery? A - Yes it does! Exemples are Exod 21:2-11 (in the very next page after The Ten Commandments); and Lev 25:44-46 Q - Do the New Testament Bible endorses slavery? A - Yes it does! Slavery as a social institution is endorsed in the New Testament and slaves are called to obey their masters "in everything" (Eph 6:5-9; Col 3:22-4:1; 1 Tim 6:1-2; Tit 2:9-10; 1 Pet 2:18-20) Q - Do God, in ANY part of the bible, prohibited humans owning humans as a property, aka slavery? A - No, there is no word that prohibited slavery or even says that is an imoral and evil act. Q - Is the Bible the word of God? A - If you believe God is ok with slavery, than yes, the Bible is the RIGHT book for you. But if you have your doubts about anything that you've read until here... Go read more.

Firstly, your choice of forum to ask such questions and (internet-level) answers seems a bit of a mismatch. I hope you are not a troll. Surely, an apologetics forum would be a better match? Perhaps you are hoping for an audience with a lower understanding of history, the Hebrew language, culture, and the Bible? Anyway, to explore this topic further, I will ask you a couple of questions (I promise I won't be as crude as to give the answers - I want you to answer): 1. What do you mean by slavery? Give me a detailed example of the kind of slavery you think the Bible is referencing. 2. What religion do you follow? 3. If the previous answer is "none", then why is slavery wrong from your perspective? What objective standard are you basing your complaint on? Bonus question: What do you hope to achieve, by bringing this topic to this audience?

29/30 (thought David took Goliath's head to Hebron). Great quiz. God's curse on the serpent pointed to Christ, the Ark of the flood pointed to Christ, God's promise to Abraham pointed to Christ, Passover pointed to Christ, the bronze serpent pointed to Christ, Isaiah pointed to Christ ... it's all part of His wisdom, power, and grace. I always thought God was a little harsh with Moses striking the rock, but there's probably something about Moses' attitude that I didn't comprehend. After all, God is just. I assume Jephthah carried out his oath, but he allowed his daughter to spend some time with her friends mourning. What kind of stupid oath was that?!

A moderately difficult quiz. Glad that you put the reference verses in. Wish you would put in a line of commentary. #7 Not quite any of the above. God gave Solomon wisdom because he asked for it for governing the Israelites justly, and he did not ask anything for himself. 1 Ki 3:9-11 #9 Why Jonah flees his mission is more important. Jonah is a nationalist and has ne preaching in the Northern Kingdom for quite a while, but they have not repented. God now wants Jonah to preach to the Assyrians, the enemy of the Northern Kingdom. Jonah knows that if they heed the the warning and repent, they will be spared. He does not want the enemy of his homeland spared while is homeland is to destroyed for their wickedness. #14 Even most of he quizzes don't get that one. Congratulations! #16 But only after the Israelites cried out to God and repented of their apostacy. #21 Yeah, that's a very gentle way of stating what actually happened. Lev 20:11 give a clue to the ugliness that actually occurred. Canaan is cursed because Noah has already blessed his sons, including Ham. Once given, the family blessing cannot be revoked. It also has a parallel to Adam and Eve and the fruit. #23 He probably thought his dog would run out and greet him first.

question 14. What I was taught. Moses was to declare the rock the second time but struck it in anger. Doing so broke the prophetic shadow picture of Messiah. To be one time struck the second time declared.

😢 74%... I am not familiar with the Book of Judges nor much of Jeremiah - except for certain key verses.💔 Finally, I very often invert Elisha's name for Elijah. (I originally learned The Word in Spanish.)😭 However, this has motivated to study more and harder.

Elijah was first, then Elisha.
