Got almost the same rig for my komodo. I switched from the portkeys to the smallhd 702touch with redcontrol. I hated the WiFi of the portkeys, because it was only 2Ghz, so no more live monitoring of the image on a smart device. And the OS feeld kindy shitty. I think it is not really comparable to the monitors from smallhd. But really nice rig though, I would shorten the cables ;-)

I can't thank you enough for these videos man. Between this video and the Run N Gun KX video - I have been able to assemble a rig very similar to yours. The only problem I have run into is the batteries. For whatever reason, both of the ZGCINE V160s that I bought are dropping power to the camera after they dip below 40% or so. Have you run into this issue and have you found a solution if so?

Wow, what an incredibly robust and well-thought out cinema rig! It's clear a lot of care and planning went into designing this setup to be as flexible and versatile as possible for different types of shoots.

The equipment you manage is a true filming monster. Good video!

Beautiful build. I've been looking at getting a Komodo X but the one thing apart from money that makes me hesitate is having a good side handle and eND. I love the RVLVR Clutch with Z Cam eND, it's so easy to customise and use, a part of me doesn't want to not have this functionality 🙂 I think the Clutch will soon be available for Komodo, but I guess not with an eND.

Very nice set up!! Thanks for sharing. It is very clean specially placing the video transmitter in the back and not on a side. For that you mention a Tilta back plate, but which one is it ?? And also for that is there a plate with DTaps output to do the same work ??

This is so off topic but I gotta know because I watch pretty much every video you post and I've always noticed. Are you sponsored by Karl Kani haha. It's such a nostalgic brand here in the US. But your's always looks like you just got it! Great videos as well man! I've gotten a lot of value watching your lighting tutorials especially!
@damiencooper8 ай бұрын
haha, a lot of people ask me about it :D Especially whenever I'm in the states. It made a huge comeback lately but apparently only in Europe. Went to a post malone concert last year and I feel every third person was wearing Karl Kani. But no, unfortunately I'm not sponsored. Would love to be though :D

Hi Damien, enjoy your video. I'm also a KX user, just wonder if the Metabones speed booster works fine on KX, I heard many users said speed boosters only work on OG (I used the Canon 0.71x on my OG as well), it will scratch the area around the sensor if using on KX. Also, I saw you using the Sigma 18-35 with the booster. I thought S35 lenses are not working with speedbooster neither, the lens should not be able to focus to infinity, right? Thanks
@damiencooper8 ай бұрын
Hey. The canon one scratches the soft parts around the sensor. The metabones does not. And the b-roll combination was an accident 🤦🏻♂️ Never used the 18-35 with a speedbooster
@ooopsproduction47808 ай бұрын
@@damiencooper Thank you so much for your clarification! All of my KX friends are concerning about the Speedbooster issue. Now we may probably get one from Metabones, I'm only using the regular EF>RF mount from Metabones. I always wanna get the Sigma 18-35 for run & gun shoots, I love my Sigma Art Primes and the 24-70. Thanks so much and support your channel!

Hi Damien, have you switched from Nisi C5 to Bright Tangerine Mayte box? If yes, why? I was about to buy Nisi C5 based on your previous KX gear review 😊
@damiencooper8 ай бұрын
Nisi only has two stages and can only accommodate 95mm lenses. So for the cine rig I’m using bright tangerine. But if I’m shooting run and gun with a VND I’m still using the C5

Do you sometime put your Red in a gimbal or you always shoot handled or shoulder rig?
@damiencooper8 ай бұрын
I do. But I currently don't have good lenses for it and the heavy cine zooms are a pain to balance and the stills lenses a pain to focus. But with the right lenses it's easy and I have a full gimbal video coming sometime in the future too

@Horizons_Roses8 ай бұрын
Hey Damien, Genuine question here, but how do you plan to finance / support this rig while leaving the commercial scene in your country ? It's an expensive rig for KZbin as it's also a rig that needs a crew to be properly operated. Take care, regards
@damiencooper8 ай бұрын
That is a very good question, one that I have asked myself numerous times ;). Generally, shooting youtube content on a RED can't really be justified. However: I basically only paid for the body and lenses. Pretty much the entire rest of the rig (batteries, transmitters, monitors, cables, cage, filters media, focus motor etc was sent to me by companies BECAUSE of the youtube channel. secondly: The content I intend to upload in the future will still mostly be about shooting with a crew. Just not for clients in my case. We went out to shoot a small scene with a handful of people yesterday and we will be shooting a short film next month with a crew of 11 people. So there's still a big use-case for this. Do I get more views or subs because of it? Probably not though :D
@Horizons_Roses7 ай бұрын
That's still a 20K$ + investmenent and some cost for repairs ahah, that's super high end for youtube and nice to see you doing the effort. Interesting to see what you will produce then @damiencooper ! Lovely rig and mindset. Have a nice day
