Beautiful how the copper has set within the black. A happy result from the resin accident which could have been disastrous. I have seen other wood and resin turners use silicone sealant to stop any leaks. I love that you share the entire process with us, and show us how you saved the casting. Then turned it into such a gorgeous container. Black and copper with that burl, just beautiful. ❤😊 xxx

The bowl looks terrific. I appreciate the stills which show off the grain so well. I have not done a resin project like this, but my take-away is "Plan for a leak". I have seen other videos where folks use a cheap plastic container. The container is always too large, so consumes a LOT of resin which gets wasted. I did get a smile from the piece of hanger used as a mixer. I knew what could likely happen, and it did. Oops. Very good initial judgement on the resin volume, now if only "Murphy" had stayed away. Very well done as usual. Dave.

Thank you so much, this resin in nice and thin so bubbles have a lot time to escape and get into all the cracks. If your wood is very porous then seal it first with either resin or wood glue, this will stop a lot of air coming out the wood while it is drying. 😀

Nice result on the barrel, I couldn't make out the copper until you did the alcohol wipe over. Jim at Sprague Woodturning allowed separately mixed colour resins to set up for a while before adding to the wood in order to reduce them mixing and retain contrast but still get those fascinating swirl effects. Now you've got a resin sponsor it might be worthy of some experimentation.

I love it! You matched the lid really well, that's something I've seen others struggle with. All that resin without a pressure pot too! I bet the leak was a pain to clear up! I hope you managed to clean it without your wife seeing it. At Christmas too! I enjoyed watching you nail it this tricky project. I did rather enjoy the moment with the coat hanger stirrer though. Lol.

I love the outside surface of burls like this almost as much as the grain, which makes me wonder why most of the resin projects I see done with them are opaque resin. That said, the copper swirl i the black is gorgeous!

Hello Mike. I do hope you and your family had a very good Christmas. I really enjoyed watching this turning. I’m so pleased to hear that you have been approached by Let’s Resin to work on some collaborative pieces. Definitely a recognition by them of the high quality of your work and how, together, you can expand the variety of your designs, whilst demonstrating how versatile resin can be. I hope it will prove to be a long and productive arrangement. As to the canister you made, I thought it was beautiful and will look forward to seeing what you have planned for forthcoming projects.
