Every single decision you made on this piece just made it better and better. The proportions, swapping out that extra walnut with the extra oak, the shape, the size - you're just becoming a master with the designs as well as with the woodworking. P.s that white pen is oddly satisfying to watch XD

Thanks so much Lois that is very kind of you to say. The pen is as nice to use as it is to watch, I have a bit of a fetich for pens and I love this one, all I have to do is try not to loose it or have it stolen by one of my kids 😂

Watching your beautiful work reminds me of my childhood watching my father learning to use his lathe. He turned out baseball bats, kitchen paper stands, toilet paper holders and even a mug or two. Sadly his health prevented him progressing any further, but what I saw him do totally engrossed me. Thank you for sparking those memories again, and thank you for the stunning pieces you create. We can never have too much beauty in our lives.

Very well done as usual. What a workout. I love the piece. In my shop, "Murphy" would have caused the corners to break off if I got the wall thin. I would have needed to go to the 80 grit "chisel" for final shaping of the corners. If you want to prevent tearout on corners of square bowls, glue on sacrificial pieces of e.g., pine then rough cut the overall shape round. After turning then cut off the sacrificial pieces. I suggested this to some local turners and now they always use this technique for making square or rectangular bowls. Dave.

Overnight thought. In a future square bowl project, consider using the belt sander on the edges like you did for this bowl, but to create a slight curve on each side. May look good, perhaps more visual interest. Dave.

Into the very people who support them and have grown along with them. This sets you apart my friend. Truly I say this, you’ve done well my friend. Don’t change your formula. It’s perfect.

Turning a rectangular bowl sounds impossible until you see a master at work. Beautiful piece excellently crafted. Swapping out the oak and walnut made this work perfectly.

Thanks Brendan, the wood is just stunning I'm trying to find some more brownheart as I would love to turn a piece that is not end grain but at the moment I just can't find any anywhere in the UK.

Never heard of this wood, it was a fun journey to watch. The grain is very interesting. Great piece at the end.you can tell in a hard wood the shavings are dust.
