It's hard to go wrong with a car built so right. The driving experience is nothing but pure enjoyment.
Perhaps another one will be in my future but for now, This will have to do. Even the girlfriend loves the thing

Majestic beauty! I really wanted to get one of these, but a good example with low milage is so rare. Ended up getting the M40i G29 and it’s amazing in its own right.

I just purchased my Z4 Sdrive35is. There are some basic features that one should expect in cars such as the Z4. 1) My Z4 has a bluetooth, but it only has it for the phone not the music/audio, that will allow you to play your music using your iphone or android phone. 2) It has no 6 CD changer like it indicates in the manual, which means you can only have one CD in the console. 3) It does not have a garage door opener that can be programmed. 4) When you let down the hard hard while you are inside the car, the windows will not close, which means you have to hold down on side keys to close all four windows. But, if you are outside of the car in close proximity, you can open and close both the hard top and all four windows, using the remote key lock. I had a hard top Mercedes SLK and all these features were there.

Bit late reaction, but thx for your video. Got my iS 5 years ago now with 100k (kilometers) on the clock. Now at 188k Main use is driving the Alps. And then some stuff around the house (Netherlands). It's not a sportscar. Too heavy. Too soft. But if you take that to mind, you have a fast GT. Still love it. Still not going to test drive anything else. It's white with red interior.

Hi Peter I’m considering buying the s drive 35i manual, what’s the reliability been like for you over 5 years of ownership, anything to look out for?

@@thedrivebygg To start with 3 important things: It has never quit on me, ever. But....there are gremlins. It costs me app 2000 Euro's a year to drive, counting everything (service at official BMW dealer; tyres; repairs; some speeding tickets). It now is at 203.500km already :). Since my post it has been on 4 trips: in the Alps again, Lago Maggiore, The Provence and Lake Garda (all from the Netherlands). The gremlins: The roof end-switches go every now an then. I swapped them out at 190kkm. Don't want to stand somewhere and not able to close it (with rain coming). Not too expensive but can ruin your vacation. Can also be self inflicted when you leave something in the trunk that gets caught in the mechanism. The ignition coils: I swapped them now for the second time as they get bad (instead of just stop). Not too expensive and you can do it yourself. Injection units: had those replaced at 120kkm and anticipate at 220kkm again. Yes, expensive, but overseeable considering the mileage. Had one leaking front shock. Replaced both. Rather expensive as it is the electronic adjustable one. Not had it, but the high pressure fuelpump can go. I was unlucky with a stone through the radiator. Not a gremlin. I was unlucky with a dislodged condense hose from the airco.. Not a gremlin. That's it. I have the autobox with "flippers" and like it a lot. The manual is not to be had with the "is", but indeed only with the "i". I prefer the autobox (with flippers). Just faster gearchanges if you want to and "do nothing" when you're cruising. Hope this helps. Peter

I think they have aged really well and look better now, most modern cars all look the same. I also think they will hold value well now, as it’s the last analogue z car.

Some of stock 35is in the UK have been dyno'd at 370 bhp. It's not unheard of with German stuff for them to be a little cautious with their power figures. It does make me wonder what the potential really is?

@BRUCE LEE 35is has more options as standard (DCT, 19", Leather, Power seats, M Paket interior and exterior) and 40 more HP.

@BRUCE LEE the 35iS has 12% more power (340HP) and ONLY comes in the double clutch automatic transmission with steering wheel flappy shifting. At the 35i like this one has the same engine, but „only“ 306HP and the double clutch transmission was an option, stick shift is standard. And that is the reason why I never considered the 35iS. I like manual transmission in sporty cars, even though of course you can accelerate faster with the flappy things. I do own the 35i in dark blue/beige, wood trim and manual transmission and it is a quite fine car. Although a bit to comfortable and heavy to be a true sports car, a Porsche Boxter corners much better

Your Z4 doesn't seem to have the M-sport package yet it does have the M-sport front bumper.. Was that retrofitted?

inflatable2 you're the first person to notice and yes, You are correct. While it does have the "sport" package They didn't offer "M sport" package in 2009. Later they called it the "m" package and literally changed 4 things, bumpers, logo on steering wheel+door sills+shifter, different wheels and 10mm lower suspension. Basically it's silly they became all about badging with no differences in performance. Even available on all models, not just the 35i and 35is. Oh and headliner changed to black, and I did change that in mine vs the standard one along with bumper. 👍🏼 do you have one? Or how did you notice?

Thank you, yes I own one, a 2010 30i E89 (specifically wanted the last NA inline 6-cylinder BMW made).. Which obviously also does not have the M-sport package because like you said that was introduced in 2011.. Only thing "M-sport" I have in my car is the M-sport steeringwheel (heated).. I agree with you about the M-sport badging on modern BMW's, I think it really took away some of the power of the M logo if you can have every single BMW, no matter the engine, with the M logo on it these days.. Overhere in Europe we even have Z4 18i's (2.0l 4-cylinder turbo, same engine as in the 20i and 28i, just different ECU mapping) with only 156HP driving around with M logo's on it because of the M-sport package (that the latest models almost always have fitted).. M-sport for BMW is now the same as the AMG-line package on any Mercedes or S-line on any Audi.. But anyway, I do like the look of the M-sport bumpers, it makes the car a bit more aggressive looking especially from the front, so I get it why some people retrofit them (why did you not get the rear one?).. I'll keep my car stock in that regard I think because it's pretty expensive retrofitting those bumpers and I feel I then also have to do all the other stuff like the carbon look interior pieces etc which would make it even more expensive.. The standard look is not bad looking either I think, so I'll keep it as it is.. Only thing that's not stock on my car are the side-blinkers, mine has the LCI chrome LED ones retrofitted, which look a lot nicer then the pre-LCI white plastic ones I think.. You might wanna look into that maybe, they are relatively cheap and easy to install.. I also have the same 19" styling 296 wheels as you.. They are a bit hard on the ride together with the standard runflat tires, but I like the look, especially on your silver car (my Z4 is black on black).. Ohw, and I have the same short "sport" antenna, but that can hardly be regarded as a mod since it's a official BMW accessory.. Enjoy your E89 Z4, I know I do..

I do not agree on the logos there. If you know BMW you will see huge difference in M and M sport. M sport package offers stiffer suspension and better more aggressive looks which I think is good, but still the M sport bumpers are not close to the M cars, I almost can’t tell a AMG apart from a AMG line. Also the M performance does not look like M cars either, and branding is with 40i,35i,50i after etc so you easily can tell if it is an M car or not

It's not automatic, it's a DCT! Not that there is anything wrong with BMW's sport automatics, they have been building excellent automatics since the switchable auto in the E30 325i. Add a XHP flash tune to the latest 8 speed auto or last gen 6 speed and it will just as fast as a DCT.
