Is Satchel and Page the best quality bags money can buy? No, but for the money the value is hard to beat. The leather is great and they have the quality to last a lifetime. At this point I own the mailbag, weekender, and the shave kit. I have the phone case on order and I have my eye on a few other items. I can’t recommend them highly enough.

I was looking into a nice leather weekender bag. There site is so good and all their weekender bag are similar in size. Im 25, what looks professional but not overkill between the Weekender, Pilot Bag, or gladstone? Mostly for business trips and vacation

What size is the bomber jacket in? Definitely want one but not sure what size to order. Im 6'2" 180 pounds. These jackets run small so for my frame a large might be too small. Is he wearing an XL or a Large?

I'm an XL in Satchel & Page jacket! I'm usually an L, so I sized up. I'm about 10lb heavier than you but you're also 2" taller so go with XL.

it does patina nicely but it's not soft - not at first, it needs a good amount of use first

chrome tanned leather is softer and more flexible, so (for the average person) it's more comfortable for boots and jackets than veg tan. It's also usually more water resistant.

You’ll want chrome tanned leather for most apparel applications because it’s very supple. It’s not nearly as tough as the heavy oiled leathers, but you wouldn’t want to make a pair of fine driving gloves or women’s miniskirt out of anything but chrome tanned leather.

I recently purchased the black backpack after owning the original brown version for several years. I noticed that the black version is substantially slimmer and smaller capacity compared to the brown one. I informed S&P of the observation and I was told by customer service that they had since updated the dimensions-definitely much smaller than the original. I wish they had informed customers on the product page that the newer black version has less capacity/volume. The brown one is my go to when traveling due to its capacity, thinking the black is the same so I purchased it. I'm very disappointed that S&P changed the size. Just wanted to share this info.

I like bark/oak/veg tan leather but using it for a travel bag or boots is kinda silly. You can’t get it wet, it’s not very strong, it requires much more care. For stiffeners in a bag or boot it’s fine but I think most people buy it because it’s expensive and they think veg means it’s good for the environment or for animals. Nice bag if you only travel to California when it’s not raining.

A couple of years after he initially reviewed the mail bag and I finally bought it. Its beautiful. The leather is so nice and the style is top notch. There is one problem and it drives me NUTS that Nick didn't mention it under the cons section of the review. I DETEST the handle not being on the top of the bag. I love the look and style, but carrying it by the handle, the bag always feels lopsided. Not sure that breaking it in will even help with that. I never would've anticipated that the handle placement could so adversely affect my enjoyment of a well-constructed bag. It's so bad, I am looking to sell it or give it as a gift to someone that wont be driven crazy by this fatal flaw. But man the leather is nice.

Noticed that the backpack color does not match the website color compared to older reviews like the kavalier guy’s channel. His backpack has that rich darker mahogany color where as the one in this video looks like a brown saddle color..

As far as the jackets go, I like big, short and boxy because I am. Being built like a muscly Celtic Scottish post box restricts. Which is why I like vintage American stuff (vintage Scottish stuff can be tiny, Scot’s Irish were poor n tiny 🙃)

The gladstone is nice but you lose space in the bottom and top corners, by the hinges ... those are not functional corners unfortunately. As a result you lose that entire line which is a bummer.

I’ve looked at their stuff before and it’s interesting, but the brand name is weird to me. Satchel and Page is just too close to Satchel Paige, the famed pitcher for the Kansas City Monarchs. I wish I understood how they picked this brand name and whether they considered the similarity. I acknowledge that this is kind of a strange thing to find off putting, but I can’t be the only one.

I’ve ordered two bags from S&P and both went back immediately. Zero quality control. Hell, one was covered in leather spew, which is the death of quality leather and they told me it was natural and would go away with time. Nonsense, leather spew is evidence that the bag was in extreme environments and started spewing the fats in the leather. You can’t fix it. That was not cool.

@@PaulAndBiscuit vegetable tanned leather isn't always great in the rain, and some bags like the Mailbag are low on features, some guys would prefer more zippered pockets (they're avoided sometimes because that counts as a breakable part)
