Love the information thanks. Wondering if you are affiliated with these brands or just what you have worked out from trial and error. Thanks

I wish I was officially affiliated with these brands! Maybe someday if they are looking for a tester! My first Camino was cancelled a week before thanks to covid! Sooooo in that down time, a different Camino began, gear testing! When I finally did get to France/Spain my “kit” was pretty solid! While doing the Camino I did actually come up with my own “dream gear”! A little game I would play with myself to pass the time on a long days walk, “how could I design this better”? But by the end of the trip I got to thinking, maybe pilgrim gear is something I could do! I mean, does the world really need another book? If you are curious to check out my site, visit shelltoucher.com -Thanks for watching Paula and Buen Camino!

Discovered some loyal Topo pilgrims on the forum. Just got my feet into a pair of men’s ultraventures a full size up, and they feel great. Going to take to my Camino next week with no break in! What could possibly go wrong 🤣 Thank you for all the knowledge. There is a lot of wisdom here. I have yet to try toes socks of any sort. I shall start with my woollen blend socks with synthetic liner tube socks. Also my sheep’s wool and deer fat cream.

Gracias, I try hard to deliver! Also, I will be back next week! On the Norte. I don’t want to tell you how to live your life but…wear those shoes starting now! Everyday, all day long until you leave. A slight break in is better than none at all! Thanks again for watching & commenting EV! Have a great trip and maybe i’ll see you in Santiago!

@@ShellToucher314 thank you, wow, yes that would be classic to connect. I start on the Frances on 5 June! The forum wisdom got me switching from my original plan to walk in my Hoka gore-tex hiking boots. So switching to shoes, even without break-in, is going to be better for me. I'll be walking as much as possible in them for sure. You deliver like nobody - it's seriously unique and I cannot believe the value and the hilarious!!!

I’ve been looking at Topos and will be heading to my local REI. My question is, will 4 weeks be enough time to break in for my Camino? I’m training every day and currently wear the Altra Lone Peak 7. But I’m concerned the tread is wearing down. I don’t want to risk breaking in new shoes mid-Camino. Maybe I’ve answered my own question?
@ShellToucher3145 ай бұрын
4 weeks is definitely enough time! I start breaking mine in 2 weeks before departure! But if you need more time…wear them everywhere! I think you are going to be VERY well prepared. Please let us all know how it was when you return! (Also, if on Facebook join the Camino De Santiago Kind Pilgrim Collective and post photos and updates Catherine!) Buen Camino!!!

Great information! Will need to look at the Topos. You’re right… the colors for men’s shoes are 🤮 these days! I did order the Tabios… I have been looking for better toe socks for some time now!

Random comment…I watched this after seeing you with short hair. Thought this was a different person, like y’all are a duo. Shell Toucher as a singular name should have been my first clue. 🕵️♀️

Disagree on the colors. Men's colors are typically less bright and don't include fuchsia and purple. I don't want to wear those kinds of colors. I do think this more of a problem in something like a fleece, jacket or top though. I probably would not enjoy that turquoise lady's shoe you are showing. I was going to go with Altras this July on the camino. They already are my trail runner I use for all hikes and backpacking. But you have me considering the Topos. I definitely want that sock though! :D

The struggle is real, right? Lol, but Pixalu I am literally holding up a pair of bright yellow men’s shoes! Lol…but, if i am being honest, they have grown on me…but geesh, whenever I first found them I was really not so stoked on the lack of color options. I think Altra actually does a better job than most…and then there’s Hoka! I feel like i’m wearing not clown shoes, but clown cars! 😂 kidding aside, thanks for watching and please keep me posted on your experience with Topos if you find they work for you! Buen Camino!😊

@@ShellToucher314 OMG Hokas! Yuck. I was just looking at Chacos on their site and some of the womens ones look like fisher price toys with ugly yellow plastic buckles and crazy bright patterns. What are they thinking?

I'm back watching your video again. My "doggies" feel like they might like to try this shoe. My training walks are starting to feel a little uncomfortable now. But the colors? :( I the dark blue with turquoise seem to be the least offensive. I still have 4 months before I leave so I will probably need "interim" shoes as I train and walk around until then. The guy at REI said my Altras are probably worn out anyhow. But the ladies lone peak colors are so neutral right now. I was all excited to get the subdued olive green ones. There is a really nice plain navy blue as well. So nice. *sigh* Well I am going to give the Topos a shot. I will come back and yell at you if I don't like them. (Just kidding. I won't. You seem like a really nice person.) Wish me luck!

Wait a second. Why are you recommend the women's Ultraventure instead of the women's version of the Mtn Racer? I'm so confused now.
@ShellToucher3149 ай бұрын
@@pixaluYou’re gonna love ‘em! Good question! Honestly, my girlfriend swears by them! And since, I have not worn the woman’s version of the Mtn Racer…this approach seemed a safe bet! TOPO ROCK! (And keep me posted!)
