I will keep my 2020 GRY, it is stock and I love it. Yes, the display and the low mirror is a bit annoying, but in fact, when sitting in the car the line of sight is not obstructed by the binnacle as it is actually lower than the base of the windscreen... and... the new Dash looks like something out of a 1980's Nissan. I think it's great they included an oil cooler, and more oil capacity for the TC I believe? No one has mentioned price yet? I wonder how much it will be? Remember the 2020 model was over £37K retail here in the UK at the end of '22. Maybe this new one will be £39K?

I think they opted for the variable torque split, because this way, the center differential can stay longer in the front biased mode and thus reduce the heat it generates. I saw a lot of videos of tuned GR Yaris, where they went into the only front drive mode on track. I would have wished for more cooling there too!
@PIRASMotorsport Жыл бұрын
Yes, this is true. Another parallel reason is that they can lock more in certain situations, based on all the other sensor variables, to reduce understeer. All of this amounts to a less natural driver feeling. Just add proper cooling and the Syvecs control unit if you do a lot of track work with wide and sticky tires!

I've already swapped out the steering wheel for a Alcantara version, next in line is lowering the seats by 35mm, then it will be ride height, spacers and better rear spoiler. I'm happy with the power, but might do stuff in the future if it's gives the car more security and reliability. Generally it's a great looking car that I intend to keep into my old age 😀

Thank you for the video! I was wondering if it really is a variable awd system that it not set like the driver wants. As you pointed out for yourself, I also don't like that the car wouldn't behave the same everytime. I guess with syvec, this could be changed on a 2024 version just as simple as on the older one. I am currently looking for one, if I can, I will buy the older one for a bit cheaper and maybe spend money additionally, or buy a newer one and change the awd settings to not be variable.
@PIRASMotorsport5 ай бұрын
Yes, I agree with what you say, happy to help! Also, keep in mind that the new one has better torque splits than the Gen.1 (where I always end up in 50:50). Ultimately it also depends on how you set up your chassis (angles, arms,coilovers and tires). The Syvecs enables you to cater for everything, including changing grip scenarios, having different settings
@rlrrlrll5 ай бұрын
@@PIRASMotorsport Happy to hear that others think the same! As you were talking about the torque split, i had to smile and thought that guy gets it :D I don't know yet if I like 50:50 or what the second generation has. A few years ago I owned subarus so I guess I would want that feeling back. I guess I will try both first gen and second gen and go with my gut feeling and what interior I like better. Once I drive and feel I need to change, I can still do that.
@PIRASMotorsport5 ай бұрын
Yes; GR’s feel very different from Subaru’s and EVO’s, as they are lighter and don’t have overhang weight front & rear. Therefore they are more nervous at their limits, and you don’t have that drift inertia you may have come accustomed to. You can make them much better thru performance mods, but this car will always favour grip driving and small drifts to big ones

Another super interesting video. So even with the uprated valve springs in the 2024 model, you’re saying the kelford springs would still better? Or are you just referring to the cams? Thanks
@PIRASMotorsport Жыл бұрын
Cams 100%, springs most probably… the new head (like the Corolla) has larger exhaust valves/valve seats, so there are some substantial differences, that can be overcome by turning your Gen.1 engine. In real life this counts only when making bery high power, over 380+ bhp on this engine
