Finally a video where someone opened the face of a draw biased driver. Exactly what I would do if someone gave me a 10.5 degree Ping SFT driver. I might also aim right if I still tended to hit a draw to the left. I saw a video where a vlogger did exactly that on a course vlog. The SFT was not suited for him but he played extremely well with it and said it was because he had confidence that if he aimed down the right side he would not lose the shot to the right.

Perfect for dogleg left though. Carry two drivers. Be interesting hear what it did when you flattened the lie angle too. If you got a bomber right to left regular shot could aim down right and let it draw back. The driver is all about having one shape and sticking to that.

“Really good golfers don’t want the ball to go left. I’m a really good golfer so I don’t want the ball to go left. This driver is going to go left. So I’m gonna hit about 15 of them into the left rough in a row to show you.” I wish they would review these draw bias clubs and aim up the right hand side and see how often they can hit them in the middle of the fairway. Just like someone who likes to hit a draw does.

Swingpath was quite neutral actually, it’s the face that was closed to path hence the ball starts left and then curves left.

@@MichaelNewtonGolf so why didn't you aim right to see if a good golfer could hit shots down the middle ...I am a 16 handicap and my normal shot is a fad /slice ..but I aim this club down the right side of the fairway ,knowing the ball will go left!

I have the same miss... deep and left. I stay far away from high lofted draw biased drivers... 8.5 and below with a neutral or even open face. This is why I love the sub zero still lofted down to 8 degrees.

I am not certain but I believe you can order different gram weights for both the MAX and SFT. Perhaps a few grams lighter or even remove the weight all together just for kicks and giggles since its a hook machine for you :)

I fully agree the only way is to take both on the launce monitor or range and try them both. With SFT also being more closed at address AND lighter it might over cook any draw to now trouble on the left side! I was wondering if Michael tried removing the weight all together for laughs.

Mike, you say the heel weight makes the club's toe lighter, which causes the player to close the club face more before impact, thus making the ball go left. I thought the heel weight caused a gear effect spin on the ball, which is why the ball goes left. Please can you confirm.

Max does sit a fraction closed to my eyes but the SFT much more closed.

Mike- would getting a 9 or 9.5 driver and increasing the loft also close the face? Seems the heel weight moves the CG as well so just wondering to keep a neutral MOI (low and back) and increasing the loft would do the same thing for reducing fade/slice?
@vinebutton10 ай бұрын
No... this was my initial thought, bought the Max and turned it up... Ended buying the SFT and it works so much better, basically have a straight ball flight with it... The sound off the driver is horrific, i'd defo go for a 430 if i was buying one, even for the sound alone.
