This is what i love about your products Steve, not only do they LOOK bad-ass and cool as fudge, they are also incredibly functional without useless "cool lights". On top of your stuff being cool and functional... it is super easy to use! The most complicated thing you have on this is a simple knob, nothing fancy.. Keep up the good work man! :D

Cool products, Steve. What I think I understand about these meters and why I would find them so useful, is that it allows you to compensate for different styles of music and different recording levels, allowing you turn the headunit OVER that predetermined volume number, while STILL knowing exactly how far away from distortion you are with your system.

Thank you for explaining the gauges. Even my local car audio shop missed the boat on this one by a mile. Only thing I see is to get a wider audience try slightly more mainstream music. If I didn't want to know about a product I would have skipped these

its all good bro, no prob. The height and width is reduced by a decent amount too when you take it out. The actual depth is about the same whether it's in the case or not.

Took me a while to get my head around it. Does not matter which bass overlap you are using, at the end of the day its going to show where the levels are in the music source, and how much you can raise the bass. The only difference i think is that my music source does not distort at max volume, so i just calibrate the meter to just off the red light, at my particular 40htz overlap of choice.. Very very nice product!

Looks awesome and for a good purpose. But i noticed there is one more, a temperature meter or something? The custom cooling is tight, but is it intelligently cooled? meaning do the fans come on when certain temps are reached or do they just keep running all the time? Is there some integration with the temp meter and the fans? thx for your time

Has anyone experienced setting the sub gains with the dd1 (all set) out of curiosity I left the dd1 connected while playing music and it showed a lot of distortion left me thinking... is something not correct? Ran a test tone from 1 hz to 1000 hz and noticed it read the distortion from 100 to 140 hz set lpf and still showed it.

Very cool. I have your Distortion detector and crossover calibrator. Great products. So if I have my system set at -10 db and I run across some track or the radio or whatever that decides to add 10 db or whatever then these will let me see if I'm sending a clipped signal to the amps? I only know enough to make me dangerous and electricity is something I just can't get my head wrapped around. Sorry if this has been covered already or if it's a simple question.

True, but now I remember MTX integrating a feature on their highest end thunder amps back in the late 90's and 2000 that eliminated the guesswork of adjusting the gains (if my memory serves me well), but I wasn't sure how it worked. I watch this video, and it made me curious to see if this setup worked on the same technology as the dd1. Too bad those amps cost an arm and a leg though...

I wonder if there's an amp maker that integrates something like this and the dd1 together into their amps in a way that allows the amplifier to automatically adjust the gains.

Another question... I listen to a lot of music recorded at a lower level like a lot of 80s metal/rock/pop. I've also gotten into hiphop and rap. This means I have to set my amps to play the "loud" newer stuff like rap metal etc and the other stuff is always at a lower level. Would these let me set my amps for the more dynamic, older(typically) recordings while still letting me crank B.I.T.C.H. by Tech N9ne without welding my subs coils?

ive always wondered, how do you use the dd1, with something like mids, if your amps wattage is way higher than your speakers can handle. such as, some 6x9s that are 120 wrms, but you have an amp capable of 150 wrms. i mean if you set that amp with a dd1, isnt it going to be setting it up to be at about 150? ive just never understood that, i cant afford a dd1 so i use an ohms law app on my phone to find voltage of the rms of my speakers, then i set it with a multimeter

I've watched all your videos and there's one thing I still don't understand when using the dd1. Do I set the amp gains then turn "bass boost" knob up say to 20% ? Or do I " bass boost" up 20% then check for distortion?
@RoyalDueces
@RoyalDueces 7 жыл бұрын
bass boost is not a thing you want to use period. but if you choose to set it without it on and then after the om1 is all set up turn it up until it turns red and you'll know you went to far. or if you're looking for more bass and less mids and highs then turn up the bass boost to what you want then set the volume according to distortion limit, i wouldn't recommend doing this because you'll lose a lot of mids and highs. best to set it up with it off and then use a bass knob that connects to your amp and turn it up as needed for various songs
