I always use 2 year Bluecol on my two classics. If there's any doubt one might as well play safe with Bluecol rather than take the risk. I also only use rainwater in the radiator which can easily be collected and bottled using any large containers/buckets.

If in doubt, ask a Stag Specialist! When I had the block/cooling system flushed out, and the big alloy radiator fitted at Faversham Classics, they used blue antifreeze, seem to remember it's 1/3rd antifreeze to 2/3rds water.

Great video Tony. I use Blue Glycol antifreeze, have done on all my classic cars over the 50 years of ownership. 2 MGAs, a Jaguar 3.8 Etype, a MGB, aTR7, a TR8, Daimler Double Six Coupe and finally a Stag.

Hi TR Tony, another good job completed , I've always used the blue antifreeze , changing each year which means I must have completed this change of coolant about 40 times and counting. Thanks for mentioning, I'm please you like the badge holders, they should polish up nicely. Keep up the good work. Bob

Evening Tony have you thought about using waterless coolant?.. Also it's a good idea to change the top rad hose clip for one that needs a socket to tighten and loosen, thereby removing the risk of slipping and stabbing the rad with the screwdriver cheers.

Hi Tony I’m going to use the evans classic cool 180 waterless coolant. It does cost a bit but you only have to buy it once as it’s for the lifetime of your engine

I would be worried putting OAT’santifreeze in my stag , coz it stands for organic acid technology , Especially about the water pump seals , which keep the water from the oil & visa versa .

Been running our Stag for nearly 12 years with OAT without any issues.

Good to see the old crud still leaving the cooling system, definitely a well overdue job now completed. Clearly you should be using a fairly traditional antifreeze... I compromised with green Comma XStream G48 for my 90s era Fiats... gives a 3 year life over 2 for traditional blue. I was interested to hear the recommendation for 1/3 antifreeze in the mix rather than 1/2.

@@ArryTheStag Actually Tony I've just seen that you can get the Comma G48 at Halfords, where you got your red stuff. I take your point that you'll do another change and flush when you sort out the heater.. does the heater currently work for winter use or is it stuck OFF ?

Once you've back flushed for the last time did you drain the whole system again from the bottom hose before filling with the new antifreeze?
