@@KG-jm1zl Well, basically the movie's about the warhawks in the Pentagon reacting to an imagined threat by sending an innocent people a nuclear bomb. Mutis mutandi, there are a number of parallels to Desert Storm. We know why the Bush adventure took place, the same influences are trying to change the q to a n and go for a repeat. Now, back to the movie, you're right CZ is obviously triggered and Stargate the movie really on has sand in common with Desert Storm. But let's not whitewash the lies and callousness that killed hundreds of thousands of innocent people.

To be clear, Teal'c believed that O'Neill could save those people because he saw O'Neill's wristwatch earlier in the episode. It was advanced technology that he recognized was not Goa'uld in nature. He realized that, for the first time, he was talking to a member of an advanced human society.

I compare this to music. The more you know your favourite musical track, it never gets less worth listening to. If anything you always discover new things. Also, what makes watching a show like Stargate, Babylon 5 or 1990s Star Trek so relaxing to me is, after a hard day’s work, it’s not even an issue if I nod away during an episode. I know what’s happening and what I missed.

You are missing the leadership and maturity O’Neill brings. From the episode where he races to the gate while alien lightening bugs try to kill him and Carter explains that he knows he has to because it only costs his life. Or when he gets stuck on another planet. Or when they need to download the ancient knowledge and Daniel goes but he stops him and takes his place because he is the only one expendable. Or how he never leaves anyone behind, even the alien that disguises himself as a member of SG1. Or when he trains the new cadets. He is the wise leader that allows the rest of his team to shine.

Only thing I didn't like was my boy Teal'c double fisting P-90s... That was a little much... I would have preferred to see him carrying a machine gun or something. I think that is part of what drew me to Ronan so much. He had a "more powerful" gun, but it wasn't more bulky since it was alien tech.

@andreamiller3578 3 ай бұрын
@@grimmpoetics313 Well, I guess we all have our own tastes, but I respectfully disagree. They couldn't fight Go'A'uld forever, and the Ori were pretty intimidating to me. I thought they introduced some interesting talking points about free choice and religion that probably could have been elaborated on if the show had gone past Season 10. I also really liked Vala and Mitchell and thought they helped refresh the show a bit, although I do think some of the original characters would have naturally gone on to different things if it had been like real life. Teal'c would have been fun to see as the leader of his people and dealing with those headaches (we did get a tiny taste of this but I wanted more), Daniel really should have gone to Atlantis, Carter should have just been the team commander instead of co-leading with Mitchell, who could have just been the new dude. But I do understand the show runners wanting to keep as much of the OG band together as possible.

I don't think I have ever heard a worse take than what you have presented on the death of Janet Frasier in Heroes. First and foremost let me say that her ROLE was the only thing about her that was "recurring", because her talent as an actress and her character within the show was MAIN AF! Her loss in that episode was gut-wrenching to say the least! Yes, they used story telling manipulations to lead to you towards certain conclusions, but that was what made the reveal so damned impactful. That is not a bad thing, that is damned fine story telling. You know that it has to be someone significant for the SG-1 team to respond so viscerally to the loss, and the natural assumption is that it was one of the main team members, sure. However, the turnabout being the death of Dr. Frasier was quite simply, masterful. You seemed to have missed every single point the episode is trying to make for the sake of a pretentious, contrarian opinion. Additionally, the turn of play with the documentary team led by Emmett Bregman was a master stroke in and of itself. He is such a slimy little twerp at the onset of the show and through most of it you find him quite distasteful but by the end, he reveals himself to be a man of truly high character and his flaws were the combination of his work ethic coupled with the forcefulness that he required because he knew he would be at odds with everyone he was interviewing.

He has done the same thing with other Retrospectives, the Star Trek one had completely ignored valid arguments about the "forced diversity" issues, the visual reboot ,fan backlash and declining writing quality of the modern shows in comparison to the older ones. I completely agree with you on Janet's death in "Heroes" it was perfectly written to misdirect the audience and her death held weight in that episode and why the job Stargate Command was doing was so important and why it should be documented. Sometimes it makes you wonder if he even watched some episodes, Teal'c's turn in Children of the God's is explained with 3 subtle scenes, it didn't come out of no where.

I absolutely love the OG movie, it´s my comfort along with the first Mummy with Brandon Fraser or the good ol Starship Troopers. And I absolutely love the SG1 tv series, it´s my go to when I am painting my 40k.

The desert scenes could've been filmed a few hours drive east around penticton area of bc. Most likely wasn't in the budget. Thank you for posting

Idk I quite liked Jackson getting O'Neill's dry witt, it works well for him and it even goes to how nonchalant he can be, plus Micheal Shanks's delivery sometimes is just great. Mitchell: "Alright we need a power source. What about the MALP?" Daniel: "Nop." Mitchell: "Seashells?" Daniel: "Don't go there."

I disagree about O'Neill. I love his character so much and the core 4 characters are such a comfort to me.

It was a pretty incredible show. As amazing an actor as Dean Anderson, my favorite was Michael Shanks. I think he might be the most skilled actor I have ever seen. He played his part so well you couldn't even tell he was acting most of the time. His performance just felt so real.

This main storyline had to end for a simple reason: with the pace of progress, the "good ol' American know-how" would turn Tauri into rulers of the universe. 🤣They casually travelled across galaxies, defeated ascended beings in the last series and received all technology and knowledge from the literal Viking gods!
