How about a brisket on this thing Kosmo? Or competition chicken thighs? Or ribs? Basically, anything besides damn steak! Lol. Yall been on a steak binge for the last 45 videos. But I still watched them all...lol. Great looking cooker. The misses would say I don't need yet another pit but at $499.00 that thing looks like it's worth it. I really like to see a long smoke on a brisket. See how it performs over that duration. Thanks for content man. Keep it up!

Possible dumb question- If the charcoal is in the tube and a fan blows the heat into it, where are all those flames coming from?
@ronaldevans52284 жыл бұрын
I'm going to guess the metal is hot grease trips on it well la flames ???
@KosmosQ4 жыл бұрын
Hello Rob Mart, Honestly that was a surprise to us too! My guess would be the grease.
@starmc264 жыл бұрын
The fire comes from the hot burning charcoal. The air from the fan blows across the charcoal and through a heat manifold out into the cook chamber.... When the grill is that hot (700°), the flames easily come out and extend up past the grates, so long as there's fuel (grease/oil). I've had luck just spraying out the flare-ups with a spray bottle.
@casey5904 жыл бұрын
Were the flames just the grease burning off? The fire is contained in the gravity chamber, correct?

I see you do dry rub, do you do marinating very often? Which is better in your opinion? If I’m gonna grill on Sunday for football I’ll put my ribeyes in for 12 - 14 hours using Dales Low Sodium and a few other things. Basically time depends on thickness. 1.5” - 2” ribeye and 2.5” filets, and I never trim my filets that kills 90% of the flavor.
@KosmosQ4 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris Clark, This is more of a preference thing, up here for our cooks we rarely marinate unless its for a specific video. But Everyone has their own preference!

Kosmo's Q BBQ & Grilling Thank You sir, when we were in Iraq in 2009/10 we could get NY Strip or Ribeye at the PX, I’d buy 6-8 and grill them for that weeks supper. One of my fellow Truck Commanders would mix up some stuff in his room and he let me use it once, my God in Heaven the rub on those ribeyes would make you slap your momma. Never would share his secrets. Again thanks for your opinion.

Kosmo great video as usual. I'm curious if the meet had a smokey flavor on it with the gravity fed system.
@Masterbuilt4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeremiah! Great question - it definitely does with the fact you are using charcoal (you can get that true authentic bbq flavor) and you can always add more wood chunks to your cook if you want a stronger smokey flavor! 🔥

Good looking smoker...any comparison to the Old Country gravity sold at Academy? I would think the OC wouldn't get as hot as there is no fan. But that's not necessarily a bad thing if you only smoke with it!

How does the whole tube with the charcoal not ignite like a chimney starter? Youd think it would just burn the entire way up. I'm missing something here...
@gregw19074 жыл бұрын
So the charcoal is stacked vertically right? Well there's a fan that blows horizontally. MOST of the heat is funneled into the cooking chamber. the rest is used to ignite the charcoal that drops down. That's how traditional gravity fed cookers work.
@starmc264 жыл бұрын
The charcoal hopper is sealed, the only airflow is at the bottom where the fire is intended... No air = no fire, but it does get hot and smoky, lots of creosote build-up on this cooker.
