Watch our original Stock Tank Pool DIY to get you started! • The Ultimate Stock Tan... The best improvement you can make to your stock tank pool is a lounge deck! Here's the long overdue video for our Stock Tank Pool DECK BUILD that we completed end of last summer! Note, this isnt a DIY since there are enough videos on how to build a deck, but more to give you ideas of what's possible with your stock tank pool! Special thanks to my brother for the help on this build!

This would've been a good project to use that Trex stuff. I know it's much more expensive but, this is small. It would keep the water damage to a minimum and you wouldn't have to stain or treat it. Also, adding a small diaphragm pump and a cheap tankless water heater could make a great hottub in the winter months.

Afternoon Good Dad Lucent! I copy catted your pool build last summer. I did put “that “ valve down one ring. The sun here in beachside Florida is killing the rubber seals and plastics of the pool pump and hoses. I did break down the pool over our winter with a good wash and automotive car wax, replaced some hoses for this season. This season I’m going for a pool deck myself. The2 and a 1/2 year old likes to step on the pump and fitting to fall over the side. Maybe a little bigger on my part. Love your videos. Great work. Jason

Thank you!! I don’t have framing details but it extends two feet off the sides and back. If it were to do it again, I would have gone about 3 feet off the back just so there’s a BIT more room to walk around without risk of young kids falling in. But now that the kids are older/taller and can swim great I have slightly less concern! (And there’s a secure cover on anyways when not in use!)

Your video is awesome! Fantastic quality. (And when I heard you say weddings, and MA, I immediately wondered if we ever worked together!) I have been wanting to do a stock tank pool with stock tank planters around it for so long. I think this might be the year! I have a few questions for you, if you have the time to answer. If not, no worries. :-) 1. Wondering how you attached the cover so it stays on. Does the tank have the same rim on the bottom to attach bunch hooks onto? 2. Deck footing piers: Since you live in the same climate as I do, I am wondering how the deck piers have held up, or will hold up, with them being above the freeze line. 3. How did you get the tank home? A U-haul van or truck?? This has been my biggest deterrent for too long. ;-) Thank you!
@LucentProductions
@LucentProductions 5 жыл бұрын
Awesome!! (Our wedding company is Lucent Wedding Films!) 1. I actually used tie down straps for the cover. Some attach to the deck itself, and others go to ground anchors around the front of the pool. 2. Haven’t seen any isssues with frost and the footings yet, thankfully. 3. Getting it home was a big challenge. Borrowed a small pickup truck but it still overhung the side a bit. If you watch our original pool build video there’s a quick picture in the video of what it looked like. Def nerve racking driving back roads with that in there!

I had the same question about how to keep the tarp down... I would love to see a picture of that in case need to plan anything into the deck build. I had a long drive to get the tank home - so for $35 I rented a 6' x 12' uhaul trailer and felt totally comfortable on the highway. It stuck out one side maybe 6" beyond the wheel.

These stock ponds are pretty cool, but do they make them any deeper than 2ft? That is great for small kids, but bigger kids or adults need one a bit larger. I might like that size for a koi pond, but I'd probably have to put it in the ground or it would probably get too hot. Nice job!

looking to doing something similar, do you need to remove sod and pack down the ground to add the concrete footing blocks or plopping them right on the sod and mud would be fine ?

I would def dig up grass and compact dirt + add a bit of crushed stone so you have a solid base.

What would it take to get detailed deck plans? I’m looking to copy this except with taller 4x4s to put a sail shade. Any issues around the stability of the deck blocks? I have limited woodworking experience... but I have access to some free lumber so why not try?

ah good question, I sadly don't have an exact blueprint anymore. I know that the deck extends 2' beyond each side of the pool (so 12' at its widest on the back).

A+ for using timber screws instead of simple ceramic deck screws for the framing. Someone clearly knows what they're doing.

I built my own pool last summer and I’m putting together the deck this summer. I have been pricing out and looking at covers as well. Do you have pics of your pool covered with this tarp? How are you staking it down. My worry is things sticking or jutting out that the kids can get stuck on...

Niki Russell I posted a picture on our “Community” tab so you can see how it’s attached! Ground anchors near the front of the pool and then hooks on the deck. 👍🏻

Where would you have put the plunger valves? Both on bottom of the stock tank? And why?
@LucentProductions
@LucentProductions 5 жыл бұрын
I would have put the return valve closer to the bottom instead of right near the top. Only because you need to fill the water above the valve which made it almost to the top of the tank.

I'm building a deck based on this video but am wondering what degree angles you cut for all of those diagonal braces ? I've been using trial and error so far but am running low on wood. lol

I question the design of the concrete pier blocks holding the upright 4x4s. Is there drain holes through the 4x4 pocket? Even if there is a drain hole, water will eventually rot out the upright 4x4s sitting in those pockets. I would have used a different pier block design where water would not sit in that pocket with the 4x4s.

All the blocks have good size drain holes and I haven't seen any issues with water collecting.

I have one more question! Did you custom tarp work well? I got the intex one and it sinks below the water if they makes sense? So when dirt and leaves land in the tarp and I try to take the tarp off it all falls back inside the pool!

Excited to get started on my whole process of one of these for my little kids, I'm just wondering, going on now threw years in, how are you doing with rust on the interior? did you plan for that at all or is that something you'll deal with when it comes? I've seen so many different videos, some seal and line it, some don't. What do you suggest?

@@LucentProductions thanks for the reply. So what I've gathered after tons and tons of internet research is that you use it for a few years until you start to see some rust and once the galvanized coating wears off then you paint it and treat it as most rubber paints won't stick to the galvanized metal. you can sand and treat beforehand but why stress yourself out more? We're going to use your video to make our kids pool. Thanks again!

@@LucentProductions Awesome! Can'r wait to see. We were thinking about coating the inside with Pool Paint once the galvanization starts to wear off. Can I ask what pool cover you're using now? Did the 8 Ft. Intex end up working out for you guys or did you switch over to something else? Thanks again!

@@AmberPisanoChefWillBeFamous The intext one didnt work as great, so we had a custom mesh cover made for the pool! Still lets rain get through to prevent pooling of water/sagging on the cover, but keeps out big debris.
