This is a perfect example of how, in Eve, if you want to make a ship do just one thing, you can make it do that one thing very well. But that doesn’t mean its a good fit - you don’t do much damage, you have no means of range control, you have no means of securing a kill, and you have no means of de-tackling yourself. Your fit might have a niche use in FW as first warp-in to get people zoned-in on shooting at you while your buddies come in and tackle/wreak havoc, but your FW targets will quickly learn your ways, so that niche would not last long if used regularly (eventually they’ll know to just point you on arrival , and kill you last) and, for solo engagements such as you showed here, it’s a dead-end, my friend. Tanky? For sure. Pvp dominance? No.

Wow, amazing tank! Its a pity about the lack of range control / tackle but I imagine that fit would work really well if you dropped the multispectrum and replaced it with a scram, for baiting on gates :)

Yes, it uses implants, but only to get it into the extreme range. Without any implants and only T2 modules (and T1 rigs), it will still perma-tank 250 dps or so, very respectable for a frigate.

With no prop mod and no tackle, I want to at least seriously threaten other ships at web range, since that is the most common range of ships I fight. Scorch can do that. Also, Magnate Navy gets a bonus to damage. And with only two gun slots, if I fit anything other than lasers, the dps will be so anemic, I won't be able to get past the passive recharge of most other frigates. With lasers I do a decent 140dps point blank and 85dps at 10km. That is sufficient to threaten most frigates.

ah. so 450dps is the assumed damage from the gang that went after you? otherwise 139hp/s recharge rate at maximum peak (20-33% shield)...you don't have any prop mod, nor a point, so i fail to understand the utility of solo pvp in this thing. [edit] although reading your replies looks like it might work for niche cases in faction warfare complexes. i looked at a merlin but it only gave 108hp/s recharge rate...better resists and an extra mid slot, but not as good....still your fit is extremely expensive. blech.

Yes, without pirate implants I get 139 hp/s. A set of Nirvana implants boosts that to 207 hp/s. Then you add uniform resistances to get the ehp/s. Against uniform resists (with my implants) it is about 450 ehp/s, but against multifrequency crystals, its only 364 ehp/s for example. Without implants, you get 312 ehp/s against uniform resists. Of course, you can overheat the Multispectrum Shield Hardener for a temporary boost of 10% extra ehp/s. Only activate when you are close to peak recharge of course. Should last you a good two minutes.

To maximize your passive shield recharge rate you need as much space for shield power relays as possible. So, as many low-slots as possible and enough cpu to fit the relays. Cruci has only 4 low slots. Slicer also has 5 low slots, so its equal in that respect. However, Magnate Navy also has 3 mid slots instead of 2 and more generous CPU, meaning that you can have a 11 slot tank (5 low, 3 mid, 3 rig) plus a nos to support it.

Technically a nice build but what's the point of a perma tank in pvp? You're better off with a burst tank and prop

There is literally no point to this build :) But in practice, I don't PvP for 'kills' (I got plenty solo kills already), I do it for fun, and having a whole fleet bear down upon you, trying to take you down and then warp out with :o is fun to me. Additionally, in Faction Warfare, you get points for 'holding the area', and if your opponent warps off or even doesn't even engagen, you can technically (and with regards to income) count it as a win.

Give it another try with the Career Agents. You can find them in the Opportunities tool. They'll give you a good walkthrough to this mega-game. This is the game that "doesn't have a learning curve, it has a learning CLIFF" lol. But the Career Agents do a good job and make it a lot easier.
