Since this video, Andrew had revealed that the band went on hiatus because of Joe's unstable mental health that has unfortunately spiralled into the mess that it is now. For new fans do not try to contact Joe to try to help him, you don't know him and neither do I, I am only saying what Andrew had said.
@melkate44758 ай бұрын
I think if joe’s mental state doesn’t get better the best course of action is either to do an album without him (like how Hawaii part II was without Andrew) or do one with help from joe digitally. But who knows how it’ll end up
@jorgerosado20878 ай бұрын
Crazy to think we are now at a point where Andrew’s making more music. Still, Tally Hall will always be a tragic band for me. They truly deserved the world, but were never given the chance by forces beyond their control. Joe especially. Those new images of Joe Hawley are truly heartbreaking. He’s clearly doing better, but you can tell that he’s not the same man anymore. Regardless, I still hold on to the idea of them reuniting. Besides, if Fiona Apple can take 20 years to release an album, so can they. I just hope they do it before it’s too late. We may have another Beatles situation on our hands.

I was introduced to Tally Hall (literally) through a couple of friends I attended a community college with. They were big fans and invited me to Tally Hall's fairwell concert and the fans threw the band a pizza party in this weird empty lot near the venue. It felt like the most janky and shady pizza party I'd ever been to. Then the band arrived. We sat in a circle on concrete waiting for the pizza to arrive. I talked to Ross, Rob, and Andrew about my upcoming visit to Australia to meet a guy I'd met online. They wished me luck. We laughed at each other's jokes. We took goofy pictures. Bora got involved in the conversation. We met other fans. And I felt so very out of the loop. I'd still only heard their music in the car on the way there. I just never turn down a pizza party and a concert, and I knew my friends had good taste, so I was along for the ride. The band told me to keep in touch and let them know how Australia went. Then they played. And I was forever disappointed that that was their farewell concert and I was so goddamn late to the game. I adore their music. I adore the music individual members put out after the fact. I kept in touch very broadly and generally, but I wouldn't have any clue if they even remember why they have this rando on their Facebooks congratulating them on their life's accomplishments. Either way, I'm so glad to have that memory, I'm glad this exists so I get to learn even more about this band I absolutely adore. Haiku, Just Apathy, Good Day, Welcome to Tally Hall, &, Two Wuv... songs that forever populate my every road trip, and all from this one concert I wasn't that invested in and later wished I had been. So, thank you to Tally Hall and to Vince and Dwight (the people who brought me along for the ride) and thank you to Just Jargon and Coz Baldwin. I woke up this morning and put on the Tally Hall shirt I bought that night, started straightening my hair, and saw this existed because Dwight posted it on Facebook. I'm beyond hyped. TL;DR: Tally Hall doesn't get nearly enough recognition....

I was a die-hard fan of Tally Hall since 2007. Followed them and consumed all of their content religiously, met them all and got pics/autographs, I have the 13th Place statue for my Good & Evil preorder, and was at their final show in Pittsburgh. Genuinely was crushed when they went their separate ways, even despite some of the great projects and popularity that they garnished both individually and as a band in the following years. Thank you for this outstanding comprehensive documentary, it brought back so many memories. I sort of got away from music in general over the past 5+ years, so I didn't realize that there was a lot of more recent projects by the guys, or all of these interviews where they disclosed a lot of interesting info, with several of them sharing the desire to re-unite sometime soon. It would be something special to see the kind of popularity and crowds they would get. These guys truly were ahead of their time, and I think it would be so cool to see them get the respect and appreciation they deserve from both old fans and new. Thanks again.

2:06:00 The binary code, when translated, reads,"atlantic lie John's golden shores awaiting the arrival of their unassuming servents". When pasted into google, the only conclusive result was of Queen Lili'uokalani's book Hawaii's Story by Hawaii's Queen. It can be assumed that John refers to John Own Dominis, the Prince consort of the Hawaiian Islands between January and August of 1891, or his father, John Dominis. His father came to America during the Napoleonic Wars, and afterwards had often travelled across the pacific, making stops in Hawaii. Lili'uokalani was the last Queen of Hawaii before the 1893 coup d'etat and the overthrow of the monarchy, following an economic crisis and pro-American ventures. My belief is that this message refers to John finding paradise, only for it to collapse soon after, but I am not fully convinced of this yet. That is the most I can gather from this cryptic message at 3:30am in the morning. As for the purpose of this message, there has been an ARG surrounding the channel Comprehension Amalgamation, who appears to have some connection with Tally Hall, though its purpose is unclear to this day.

The character art for post-band Joe Hawley a little bit broke me - specifically for the detail of the little round sunglasses he wore in that infamous performance at ann arbor in 2016, where he was filmed singing 'storm and a spring' and was widely speculated to have been on the verge of tears for the entire performance. Just. the little details.

I. FUCKING. LOVED. THIS. ENTIRE. DOCUMENTARY. Sorry if that comes off as too strong but seriously, this is 3 straight hours of history and some of the most detailed information (outside of just directly going to Hidden in the Sand) on Tally Hall that I need any and all Tally Hall fans to see. Your dedication to this band, it's history, the unknown future and just everything is fantastic. And man, using Ruler of Everything in the intro and then ending with Variations on a cloud is just... beauty. Holy shit. It's actually something I wanted to do myself if I ever made something Tally Hall related. I got kinda close with the video I have on my channel where I go from the Ruler of Everything music video to the Complete Demos version in the end credits, but THIS is far superior in every way. You already had me before with your Awful Fawful video but now I am fully happy to say that you are easily my new favorite youtube channel. Happily looking forward to your next upload.

Tally Hall are probably one of the most influential bands of the 2000s, i think if you look really deep into it you could consider them the modern Genesis due to being kooky progressive pop with odd connections to other well known pieces of their respective cultures, i absolutely ADORE Tally Hall’s style with everything from their lyrics to their harmonies to how they play their instruments, it’s insane how deeply intertwined Tally Hall are into internet culture

This is a wonderful documentary with awesome guest appearances, great narration, very in-depth research, and such professionalism that I've also seen in other great documentaries. Even the Joe Hawley doc drama, which a lot of people may find uncomfortable, is dealt with care and attention (especially the fact that most allegations are still debated and uncertain to this day). As a relatively new Tally Hall fan who has been listening for about 2+ years now, I am extremely grateful to know not only the band's history, but also little influences they have all around the web. I eventually came back to them roughly 4 years ago? Maybe 3? They've been one of my favorite bands since. Genuinely, nothing beats their unique sound to me. Honestly, if they were to get back together somehow, I'd be pretty likely for success. All the popularity from some songs on the internet could set them up for future success. Rob clearly has tons of resources at his disposal, I wouldn't doubt that they could make music in disney/pixar movies if they ever got back together. Joe Hawley's history is definitely a problem, but anyone is capable of growth, and he did mention the possibility of clearing his name. He would certainly get the help he needs if anything about his mental health is confirmed. I'm just saying, the band might have a bright future ahead of them.

This is such an in-depth documentary, well done! I started listening to Tally Hall at the height of the COVID pandemic in 2020, a good friend of mine introduced me to The Bidding and I fell in love. I absolutely adore Ruler of Everything, Hidden in The Sand, Turn The Lights Off, You and Me, and Spring and a Storm, but my absolute favourites have to be The Whole World and You and Greener. Such a unique, quirky, unusual and interesting band. One of my favourite fun facts is that the garbled radio static at the end of Hidden in the Sand can be played backwards to say "Wouldn't the world be better off if we took nonsense more seriously?" and I think that's just a wonderful thing to think about.
