It's 15th August and it's finally time to leave Glasgow and head ... into the highlands. To Oban and beyond, where we stay the night at the highest station in Britain, it's Corrour! Which was always going to be amazing, and the location of where 'Trainspotting' was filmed - it was always going to be the ultimate tick!
If you want to stay at Corrour, there are three rooms and they are all bookable through AirBNB. Details and links are on the Corrour Station House website: www.corrour.co...
Download the All The Stations theme tune from iTunes here: itunes.apple.c... (other stores are available....)
One of our Kickstart backers - Roger - also made a fun video at Corrour, "Britain's Least Lowest Station", here:; • Corrour - Britain's Le...
Geoff and Vicki are visiting ALL 2,563 national railway stations in Britain - view the progress map and loads more information about the project on the website at: allthestations....

PJ and the Craxfords pacers are good if you want to cram as many people on as possible and you don't care about your passengers (rural commuter lines etc)

I love All The Stations! Me and my dad actually went to Falls of Cruachan by train, took the tour and we got in for free because we didn't use the car! It was a great tour and they encourage eco-friendly modes of transport. I'd highly recommend it! :D

"Man with dog" at Rannoch. Amazing. I was there on a train for my stag do on February 2009. Said man with dog were the only passengers to alight at Rannoch into 3ft of snow. Dog promptly disappeared, and was seen jumping down the platform, completely buried with snow.

I've been looking forward to this one for a while now. My wife and I made it out to Oban (by car, unfortunately) about two years ago, and loved the scenery as we wound our way around Loch Lomond. Toured the power station on our way out. The proximity of the line to the motorway fascinated me (as did the town itself). Thanks for the nostalgia trip!

Took a 3 week trip to the highlands in July of this year, spent 4 days walking, camping and kayaking and It all started at Corrour Station. Such a strange feeling watching that training pull away from the platform and then being alone in the middle of no where. Highly recommend a trip to Corrour!

Don't worry about pronunciations. If you are in an area for more than a couple of days you will pick local names up. My late mother who was 1/2 Scottish herself, took time to learn Milngavie, local to here. Camelon is another local one. You need to hear the name, said by a local, much better than an incomer. :-)

I don't know why Scotrail use class 156s on the West Highland line, I'd have thought 158s would be much better suited to journeys of that length. It can't be that they don't have enough of them as they're used on Edinburgh suburban services.

As a Londoner I can reply with the fact that I know what a bothy is, I actually think it's an age thing. I've been to Scotland many times and while I haven't stayed in one, I know of their existence and why they're used (A kind of emergency shelter in the middle of nowhere). They exist in other countries, not sure what they're called there, for example Norway has them.
