I pray that at a certain point in the race a big break goes and Jorgensen, Landa, Vlasov, almeida are all represented and there is a staring contest between al teams. Imagine the scenes with kuss but at all teams at the same time. Funny thing is the second leader strategy has been so mainstream it actually might happen too.

Soudal-Quickstep would just sit back in the Peloton and look at the other 3 Teams because Remco has the least amount of internal pressure in my eyes. Jumbo can say to themselve that it worked at the Vuelta and Jonas isnt in peak shape probably. Roglic and UAE would be panicking is my guess.

yeah i feel like they're extremely positive he'll be in top form when I'm thinking about evenepoel who's finally getting back to similar strength before his crash, but that took half a year. Jonas had two months. Really like the guy but I feel like pressure is mounting to a completely unrealistic degree, if he can finish in reasonable shape without losing too much time I feel like it'd already be an achievement but maybe I'm too pessimistic on the other end. Also hope your recovery is as quick as Jonas' will hopefully be 🙏 stay strong mate

I think UAE are going to do the train, Sivakov > Soler > Ayuso > Almeida. I think at this point Almeida has it in him to drop every other GC rider off the wheel of Yates and Pogi. If they do, they will cruise to the finish. If they don’t, you can be for sure it will only be Roglic and Vingegaard left after a hard Almeida pull. Yates has shown his power and could be pretty much red line those two before Pogi attacks and no one will be able to follow him

I'm looking forward to this tour but mostly because I think there are question marks next to several names: Roglic, Remco, Bernal, etc. I liked the drama within the teams hot takes. I think any of those could happen. If the GC looks settled early, I can start "analyzing" team dynamics. Could be fun... Great pod, as always. Love the shades, Benji.

This tdf can theoretically deliver anything from essentially last year, vinegaard winning in front of pogi or roglic and ayuso cracking on the first speed bump, to vinegaard full cracking and UAE splitting the entire podium between them

I dont understand why no one is considering that giro might influence Pogacar form during the TDF. He won it easily that's true but still he had to prepare a peak form for the giro and then for TDF I'm not so sure he will be 100% during TDF.

Not having (a fit) Kuss weakens the visma team climbing wise so now UAE is by far the strongest climbing team. But they are indeed unbalanced, if Pogacar takes yellow early on controlling the race (espescially the flat/classic parts) would take a LOT out of their climbers. It will all boil down to individual strength of the anorexic gladiators. Let the hunger games begin.

I want to pull for Jonas, however, with GC Kuss now out and the significant injuries of Jonas, I just can't see him making it all the way through 3-weeks at a high-level. If/when Jonas faulters, I hope that Visma will quickly switch support to Mateo to give him a legit shot. I don't believe in Remco having the ability to ride a clean 3-weeks, he will flame-out at some point and then stage hunt. The form of Roglic looks the best of the top contenders (who are not Pogi) coming into the race. For me the key with Roglic will be staying upright (not crashing) and having good team support so that he does not always have to work hard himself. If Roglic stays healthy, he can contend for the podium, but I don't see him winning. I believe that UAE will have the team under control and dialed-in for the race. The slight soft-spot of not having strong rouleur support will be noticed, however, the strength of Pogi along with the incredible climbing support that UAE is brining will more than make up for that slight weakness. I am looking at Carlos R from Ineos to be a surprise 2nd place behind Pogi with Roglic in 3rd. Pogi will win by more than 5 minutes. Cav will win 2 stages and Mads Pederson will take Green.

@edwin.jansen3 ай бұрын
It will be interesting to see what Team UAE are going to do. They have not shown any real tactical insight in the past. It was more like, well Tadej is here, we ride for him and sometimes that worked tactically and more often it went into what looked more like utter chaos. I am specifically interested in what happens when Ayuso or even more Almeida gets granted a bunch of minutes by the other teams. The same goes for for instance Jorgenson. What will TEAM Visma Lab do if the rest hands him a 2 or 3-minute advantage?
@GonzoJohnny3 ай бұрын
Sadly without Kuss the visma team has less strength so this also takes away some possibilities to use their tactics. 100% agreed on your view of UAE, i do hope there will be teams challenging them on the flatter/classic stages, except for Politt UAE mostly has climbers and they will have to offer them in a scenario where a big breakaway gets some time. Your specific interest (what if Almeida ,Ayuso or Jorgensen gets granted minutes) is an interesting one. Let's hope for the best ,in my own personal preference this means any scenario where Rogla gets to win the tour 😃

I don't agree with the notion that GC riders should clean up breakaways. The dynamic is just so different. You spend a lot of energy early on, the other break riders look at you to do more work or even all the work, ... Sure when the break start a final climb all at similar fatigue, the GC riders (should) easily destroy the regular break riders, but that isn't the case in a break. The breakriders need to underestimate the GC rider or the GC rider needs to be lucky to have support in the break, be it teammates or some riders willing to work. Else he'll have a very hard time and either will get overworked or the break will not get much if any time on the peloton. This is partially why Remco had to go solo or potentially get burned due to fatigue later in the stage (and stages after that).
