Puck Pieterse actually did race since the Tour, she won the MTB World championships. If she is on TdF form I would say she actually has a decent chance here, as she can end up in a small group with Vollering and no other couples. She can attack in tha last 20km, Kopecky will only focus on Vollering so the chase might be very disrupted. She is a great descender and if she has someone with her not called Kopecky she will beat them in the sprint. I have my doubts about all the other Dutch women winning, even from an early break. Bredewold too much climbing, Markus not on great form despite that Romandië win, Rooijakkers did not look on TdF form in Romandië and the climbs could be too short for her plus the last 20 km do not suit her. Vos I think also just a bit too much climbing probably, she”ll only win if a relatively big group comes back at the end. Actually given this years’and recent form Talitha de Jong would probably be the best bet to win from an early breakaway as she also has a good sprint.

I think Powless is going to pull out a weirdly high-quality performance again. He got 5th in Leuven and 11th in Glasgow, and is frankly a much better rider than his results would suggest. He had a child this year so he hasn't been in quite the form he's been in in the past, but I would not be surprised if he gets like 7th or 8th, and I think he could do even better.
@willcampbell3238Ай бұрын
I feel like the goal of the Dutch squad should be to stay completely intact until at least the last 80km. When Pogi and Evenepoel go, and they will try to go long range, you will need a completely unified squad to chase them down. One of the reasons their long range attacks work is because there is no cohesion behind. (Obviously, the main reason they work is because they are both GOATS, but they MIGHT be less successful if there were a proper chase behind). Anyway, a unified Dutch squad might be able to keep a Pogi, Remco gap to a minimum and provide the best chance for MVDP to make it.

Rainbow Roglic, calling it now. Gets away with a small group and Pogi doesn't chase.
@adamdvorak3483Ай бұрын
we can hope.
@fan-2sport-nf3szАй бұрын
That's hard to believe. Roglic will likely help Pogi, who is superior in 1 day races. Roglic wasn't also in optimal conditions for the itt. And also taking into account the loss of mohoric, stronger guys (like Primoz) will work harder to make the race difficult.

The hardest part of the loop around Zurich is the first climb (zurichbergstrasse) is 200m @ 13-17% leading into a short 5ish% downhill and before you have time to rest you go into the second climb. Seems like this section of the course is where attacks or race winning moves are likely

I think the idea of Slovenia struggling with controlling the break only works if all of Spain, France, Denmark and Italy manage to get someone into the break. If any of those team misses the break I think they'll be the ones controlling the break until the last 80km or so.

Agree Roglic in moves on the circuit is a good strategy. Based on his performance in the ITT, he won't make a race winning attack. Pog, Remco, and MVDP nulify each other. The winner will come from behind and pull an AVV.
