Spanning nearly a million acres, the park encompasses a variety of ecosystems, from lush rainforests and alpine peaks to rugged coastlines. Here is a comprehensive summary of the myriad things to do in Olympic National Park.
Hiking and Backpacking:
Olympic National Park is a paradise for hikers, with over 600 miles of trails winding through its diverse landscapes. From easy strolls to challenging backcountry routes, there's a trail for every level of hiker. The Hoh Rainforest, with its ancient trees draped in moss, offers enchanting hikes, while Hurricane Ridge provides breathtaking alpine vistas. The iconic Hike to Sol Duc Falls showcases the park's rich biodiversity.
Wildlife Viewing:
The park is home to a diverse array of wildlife, including black bears, mountain goats, Roosevelt elk, and various bird species. Wildlife enthusiasts can embark on excursions to catch glimpses of these creatures in their natural habitats. The meadows of Hurricane Ridge are particularly known for elk sightings, and birdwatchers can explore the coastline for seabirds and shorebirds.
Scenic Drives:
For those who prefer a more relaxed experience, Olympic National Park features scenic drives that provide stunning views without the need for strenuous activity. The Hurricane Ridge Road takes visitors up to panoramic viewpoints, while the Hoh Rainforest Road immerses travelers in the magical world of the ancient temperate rainforest.
Beachcombing and Tidepooling:
The park boasts a rugged coastline along the Pacific Ocean, offering opportunities for beachcombing and tidepooling. Ruby Beach, with its sea stacks and driftwood, is a popular spot for exploring tidal pools and witnessing the power of the ocean. The tidepool areas reveal a fascinating world of marine life, including anemones, starfish, and crabs.
Camping:
Camping enthusiasts can choose from a variety of campgrounds scattered throughout the park. Whether it's the peacefulness of the Sol Duc Campground or the oceanfront sites at Kalaloch, camping allows visitors to fully immerse themselves in the natural beauty of Olympic National Park. Backcountry camping is also an option for those seeking a more remote and secluded experience.
Hot Springs at Sol Duc:
The Sol Duc Hot Springs offers a unique and relaxing experience. Surrounded by lush forests, visitors can soak in mineral-rich hot pools, providing a perfect contrast to the park's cooler temperatures. The hot springs are accessible via a short hike, making it a rewarding destination for relaxation.

That is so nice ... thank you very much. Honestly, it might have been better if I hadn't accidentally erased about half of my video that I took when I was there. Oh well. I appreciate the comment.

I completely understand... We just finished our newest full property walkthrough video and realized we shot half of it in the wrong format and had to do it all again before posting it. 😂

Great videos, btw! I hear your frustration - I just did a Big Sur video (not out yet) and the audio was garbage. Took me about a week to get it useable (still not great). Live and learn but there are so many things that can go wrong (and often do).

Hey Travel Eaz, thanks for this amazing video about the Olympic National Park! 🙌🏻 you are such an inspiration for beautiful vacation trips! I can't wait to explore everything that you just recommended in this video. Only 50 days left until my roadtrip from Seattle through Olympic, Vancouver, Jasper, Banff and Calgary starts 🤩 If you remember, some months ago I requested you to do a video about Olympic NP. I feel very honored that you did it ✌🏻 The only thing left that will be on my roadtrip but not on your channel is Mt Rainier National Park - hoping to see it soon 😇

Hi Chris- thank you for your latest comment, I really appreciate it. And yes, I well remember you! I do have plans to do Mt. Ranier NP. I'm not sure if I'll have it done in time as I'm scheduled to go there (it's only 3 hours from where I live) in March or April. I'm going to Jasper to do a video in May - but unfortunately, you'll already have gone to Jasper by then. Jasper is really special - some of the great waterfalls are in Jasper (Athabasca and Sunwapta) and if you have time, Maligne Lake is gorgeous! Your trip will be epic!
