What a wonderful compressor, I had the honor to mix the wonderfully talented Gloria Anderson and James Dupre thanks to the tracks you provided to Produce Like a Pro and the mix contest (I didn't win😜), Thank you. I ran her and him through my Black Lion Audio Seventeen Comp and then into Black Lion Audio's Bluey for some saturation that the Bluey can provide. Thanks for showing us this compressor.

We have MANY favorite vocal compressors like 1176, 2a, 3a, Fairchild, Distressor, etc. But this Hazelrigg VNE is a very special box. Let us know your current favorite “go to” vocal compressors (hardware or software)

Really great compressor and great presentation. My favorite comp is a new thing called a Verspyck/Hirsch Clear Compressor. It has a similar purpose. (keep your eye out for it)Often compression is used to mask a singers limitations. A compressor like the VNE doesn't mask anything. This is what you spend the money on. If you are starting with beautiful and awesome and you want to retain the subtleties of a masterful performance I would think a comp like the VNE would be essential. I'm looking forward to checking one out and comparing it to my VH. Thanks again !

Do you know if there are differences between this and the fearn vt7 other than being one channel and no knee control? Also, I'm looking for a centerpiece compressor. I'm selling smaller pieces of gear for more high-end pieces. I'm between snagging a fearn or a stamchild. I know that they are pretty different pieces. But if you had to have only one for your studio, which would you pick? I like the fearn for the duality of having it as a vocal compressor that reacts like this. I also like the glossy transparent character for modern music. I like the stamchild for the features, depth, and character. Also looks pretty snazzy haha. Is it too much of a one trick pony?

Anything based on the Fairchild is definitely not a one trick pony. It is capable of being a stereo bus compressor, group master, vocal, and so many other things. That would honestly be a really tough pick. As far as what the differences are between this and the other fern products I truly don’t know. I’ve never used the fearn compressor. Only the pre and EQ

I talked with the Hazelrigg guys and they told me the VT7 basically 2 VNE’s that can be used as a stereo bus comp. Plus the added knee control. I got one and so far I’m astonished. It does something special to the low end and has a sort of clear sheen in the highs. Not an extra added sheen though. More like when you put on prescription glasses. It is WAY more than dynamics controller.

I have yet to use those, but I just mixed track at a Masterclass at Warm Audio that Warren had used those mics on and everything sounded great!! I do wish my friends at Warm Audio would send me some 😂

I’ve own a VNE and have worked my entire career on a cl1b. I’m going with the VNE . They’re different but the VNE is better for tracking for sure. Mixing can be a little more subjective

@@maninironmask7925 oh, you mean for my voice got it. That is their new “content creator “microphone called the Ray. which essentially is a 440 with some really cool bells and whistles to keep the volume and tone of the microphone sounding the same as you move around. Very clever.
