I am somewhat enjoying playing tier 6 Strongholds with my clan of noobs, but the whole Strongholds system could use a touch up. I would like for it to be like Onslaught (not with abilities) meaning that we could pick our tank after the map is loaded. Also team damage is sometimes yikes.

Between Frontline and new Steel Hunter, there almost isn't a reason to play standard battles anymore. Frontline is perfect for chilling with the boys and Steel Hunter is for sweating your ass off.

A very fun introduction to this game mode was the earliest iteration back in 2018 in which you were just a wz-5a or e50m exc. I liked that kind of battle royale, because it was a very smooth change from normal randoms

As someone who hasn't played wot in a long time (war thunder player), this guide was really indepth and helpful. Steel hunter is definitely the best mode and the only thing i occasionally return to wot for.

I agree the arlequin's double gun is kinda funny to just plop ~1000 into some poor sop, BUT ricochets and not penetrations make it super annoying, most of my wins with it were mid 10k games, all my anti tank machine gun/derp games were, lowest ~13k and highest 17k

Thank you for the educating video chems. I honestly had a lot of fun playing the steel hunter, definitely a nice refresher, and quite frankly, I think I perform much better in this mode than in the usual arcade battles. Now idk how points are calculated after the game, but I think the win brings a lot of points, so for me it works best if I try to be passive early and then start picking up fights after I've upped tiers, but I think this really comes down to personal preferences, which only further supports that Steel Hunter is ultimately better than the pubs.

I watched your old guide on Steel Hunter because I *SUCKED*. After watching it, I started to win those matches. I started with the Raven like you recommended, and played it almost exclusively until they nerfed it during the previous incarnation. I branched out to other tanks and found I was able to dominate with ease. I even had one win that I knew you'd have hated me for. It was the final two, me and some other scrub who hadn't watched one of your guides. He was in the Harbinger and I was in the Varyag or whatever that enormous Soviet turd is called. The field of play had closed down into the final little 1x1 area. I was down low in a canal and he was up top on a bridge that crossed the canal. He had no angle on me and was too chicken to go into the red zone for a few seconds so he could get down low with me and try to kill me off. We sat like that for a minute or so then the game field closed in completely. All squares were red. We were both being devoured by the game zone itself. I'm sure he was thinking, "Well, we'll both die here so it's a draw." Wrong. I watched your guide, I was armed with knowledge, and I popped my healing circle. I sat there getting healthier while the actual GAME murdered this man. I knew you would be disgusted. It was one of my proudest moments in WoT.

Consumable CD reduction is what truly made me WANT to use my consumables versus other iterations where you had to hoard the meager handful you were given through the course of the match. EVERYONE gets the funny ball now.

Steel hunter also doesnt require any grinding or purchasing premiums in your garage to use in the mode which is good for those who happen to jump from account to account 😉

I want to comment about something a lot of people probably never heard about or probably forgot. In 2018, there was a battle royal mode that predates the original Steel Hunter, I don't remember what it was called, but it was a battle royal with selected tech tree tanks with drops with huge custom maps. Just a little trivia.

That would be VERY INTERESTING to see though. WAIT, are you talking about the one gamemode that was out on the sandbox where you can like collect drops and you`d get your tanks and complteely different ones as well,QB has made a video on that. If that`s what your talking about. It was on Nebulburg,and it was shortly released after 1.0 graphics update. If im right then this is literally the hidden prototype steel hunter.

I dont know if I am tripping but the steel hunter I remember was a Tier 10 only battle royale where repair depots exist to compensate for the long fights. I only got to experience it once with my old IS-7, when it still had that erect gun.

the best way and the only way to make the consumable score go green is to bring it back to basic: let every tank have every ability, just like how the 2019 version did it. doing this and the balancing issues will solve itself out - trap is no longer a Raven trademark (Raven is no longer the noob friendly tank); landmines will no longer be exclusive to Varyags, acid shots and lightinings for everyone. in fact, they can just copy and paste the entirety of the 2019's consumables set lists into Evolution, call it a day and it's still gonna work just fine.

Yes, yes, and yes. Awesome video, chems. Best gamemode in the World of Tanks. Easily the best. I have played this gamemode to death, so I didn't learn much from this, but it was great to hear someone else talk about all these tactics. I have a winrate of about 20%, but mainly because I don't sweat to much and am always trying to break records, rather than win. I employ all the same strategies as you, but my aim is worse, my reaction time is worse, and I can't handle pressure as well. I once got 17 kills with my platoonmate in the platoon mode. You and I should platoon one day. I reckon we could get 20!

12:50 another big thing with acid shot is that it has highly increased pen, so you almost never get a non pen with it.

I love using the double gun on the arlequin its amazing but maybe thats just me, would be easy back to back dubs with it as the high tier hits for 1k which people don't expect also my highest damage games where with the arlequin I think many above 15k and I think I managed to get 19k once with like 10 kills so I would say try the double gun out for yourself I thought it was trash too at one point till I gave it a try.

I believe that in general you overvalue equality in the matchmaking. SBMM will just result in sweats throwing on purpose so they can play against bots. And even without smurfs equal teams lead to more stress to perform and less "great games" as the opponents will be a lot better too. Nevermind new players learning absolutely nothing by making the same stupid mistakes and not getting punished by the equally bad players on the enemy team. SBMM is fine for a ranked system that actively counteracts smurfs, but not for a casual game like WOT
